[sp]Wish he wore his helmet[/sp]
Finally watched Homecoming.
Zendaya's character wasn't just pointless, she was straight up annoying at times. The stalking joke is cute until you think about it, and it becomes creepy. The infantile nature of the character is just too much. Usually these closed off, immature characters have something that explains why they're this way; but here the writers either shit the bed, or thought it wasn't necessary. They really dropped the ball either way.
I really liked that the film didn't feel like another Universe exercise, and was more personal - really fits the film's themes. However [sp]the scene with the Avengers invitation was weird. I felt bad for Peter "missing out" on that stuff, even though I was clearly supposed to cheer for his choice. Somehow the film didn't resonate with me there[/sp]
Some in-universe stuff I loved. Happy's back, that robotic hand assistant's back; but [sp]Pepper returning is just a bad decision. They did a bit in Civil War that was tasteful and actually served the story, now that Gwyneth Peltrow has recieved enough of a check Pepper's suddenly back? This sucks. I would love this scene if they didn't have that bit in CW, however[/sp]
Not enough Hannibal Buress. Just 2 scenes, seriously? The other comedy stuff was golden though, especially the school's news reels.
Also, my screening had the projection and sound turn off at the very end, to only turn on in the beginning of the credits; so I was pretty confused reading some stuff online that mentioned a part that I couldn't have missed when watching, turns out, I literally missed that part.
I thought Zendaya's character did a good job of iterating the "rebel anti-social teenager" I remember when I was back in high school. Though that was ten years ago so my memory may be fuzzy.
Besides that, I agree that she really added nothing to the story whatsoever. That last line she gave felt really forced, as well.

From my experience, people this immature were more like typical outcasts, a bit "freaky", because they were nightmare to be around with, and I'm still very close to those experiences (i'm 22) Maybe that's why I hated this character so much.
Also, Jennifer Connelly voicing Karen, I wonder if it's a nod to Paul Bettany as JARVIS, since they're married?
Maybe he put in a word for her, since he often joked about how easy and high paying these jobs are.
Has anybody else noticed a possible visual nod to 1989 Batman? During the first Vulture and Spiderman fight, there's a shot where, in the background, you can see the Vulture making a bird silhouette in front of a full moon, it seemed really similar to this:

One thing that I'm a little confused about is toward the end where [sp]the Shocker suddenly is guarding the school to see if Peter will back off after the Vulture's threat or not. My issue is, Vulture realized that Peter was Spiderman --just moments before-- in his car. How did he manage to call the Shocker and have him show up in the half minute it took Peter to walk into the school, tell Liz he had to go, and change his costume?[/sp]
Some more continuity stuff:
Remember the short where Lizzy Caplan was stealing Chitauri guns from the New York fight? Didn't that establish that SHIELD took care of cleaning up New York?

yeah? that's why vulture and his guys got laid off?

The team that came didn't say they were SHIELD though, right? I watched it dubbed, but there were no shield logos anywhere in the film.
as far as i remember they didn't say who they were, but the assumption was it was SHIELD

"Department of Damage Control" it says on the wiki page.
I guess they didn't want to confuse people since about this, because shield wasn't mentioned since Cap 2
I was under the impression that the Department of Damage Control (fucking terrible name btw) was specifically designed to clean up the Battle of New York, not as a greater department for all mop ups of the Avengers.

[sp] I really hope he doesn't spend the whole film like that. He goes from looking cool to a 50 year old bald purple man with anger issues. [/sp]
I saw Spider-Man: Homecoming yesterday. Overall it's another fun Marvel movie that does some things better than majority of MCU films but in the end it still follows the formula a lot.
Without spoilers I liked how the plot is less "save the world" and more about stopping a cool criminal that has a motivation you understand. Unfortunately just like most of Marvel movies you feel nothing more than the fun. More in spoilers.
MAJOR SPIDER-MAN:HOMECOMING SPOILERS
[sp]For the longest time Marvel has a real issue with giving their heroes scenarios with real weight and consequences. In this movie I liked how Peter had to abandon his friends to be Spider-Man because it felt difficult. All of it doesn't matter unfortunately, his team still wins and he never loses friends due to his disappearances. Even his crush still liked him although he bailed on her numerous times (except for the final time). The only moment that felt more emotional was when Peter was stuck under the rubble... which was ruined by the cliche echo/voiceover of lines we heard from Tony before in the movie.
I liked Vulture and the twist was also nice. I don't want to list every scene but you understand him. Great villain but I wonder if he can stay a villain. His operation seemed to depend on staying a secret. Now he's a known criminal and his family probably won't want to do anything with him unless he tries to be a good citizen (when he gets out of jail). Somebody else can be the Vulture for sure but that's the suit, not the character. Cool to see Michael Mando in a big movie like this, possibly turning into Scorpion later.
What was also nice was the low kill count in this movie. I remember Spidey never going for a kill and I'm glad they stayed true to that. I'm actually a bit annoyed how much the other Avengers kill without much thought.
Lastly a nitpick I noticed. The movie starts with the movie Peter is shooting. The scene with Tony in the car takes place almost right after the airport fight in Civil War. It feels weird seeing Tony making jokes when in Civil War at that time he's depressed, angry and his best friend just lost the ability to walk.[/sp]

[sp]Actually I feel like this is exactly what he would do. He didnt seem happy at all for that scene, he cracked a few jokes but never a smile. Probably dealing with the depression.[/sp]
Speeder-Mon
[sp]i was not expecting Gwyneth Paltrow at the end. I thought she was done?[/sp]
Ruffalo and Cheadle were so out of it during D23

Seems like they were playing, no?
[sp]even though that's probably what's going to happen?[/sp]

They're definitely joking around. They have good chemistry tbh.
ruffalo is such a dork. his reactions during d23 were great
I saw spiderman homecoming. I think it was a great adaption of the character. Tom holland is the best spiderman we've seen on the cinema yet, and Michael keaton was a very scary villain.

:v:
Ever since the cartoon show of Doctor Strange and Spider-man team up, I really hope they have a duo fight scene in infinity war or even their own movies

[sp]He was probably already chaperoning. What if he stalks her constantly under Vulture's order for "protection"? They seemed to know their way around the school.[/sp]

[sp]saw on reddit that they followed the crystal back to the school, so they were expecting somebody to go back to it. Vulture remembered tget and told Shocker to look out for Parker[/sp]
here's a compilation of interviews at d23. i especially liked josh brolin's comment about tom

Finally got around to iron fist after what feels like ages of it being available
10/10, good casting, characters and none of it felt like wasted time to me. Ending kinda meh I guess but I found everything else pretty riveting even though [sp]Iron Fist never gets a permanent costume[/sp]
I was concerned about Claire being forced but she was for the most part pretty well placed.
Just gotta finally watch Cage and I'll be ready for next month
Why does Ward look so much like Fred Armisen
zendaya's character in homecoming wasn't bad, It's just she didn't actually do anything besides the odd joke or so. the 'stalker' joke was in pretty lame fashion, though.
I really didn't care about Michelle in SM:H. She had very little screentime and I wasn't a fan of her personality. [sp]If she is supposed to be the new MJ, I think they tried too hard to make her different. That being said I don't care about her race.[/sp]
Apparently [sp]the MJ thing is just a dumb joke to "enrage" people, and it doesn't hold any bearing. Kevin said that iirc. I bet it was Pascal's idea.[/sp]

That will be exceptionally confusing later on if [sp]they add the actual Mary Jane to the MCU, because it'll make two MJ's for viewers to get confused by[/sp]
Really retarded
I honestly don't see the problem here
