Saw an amazing theory on /co/. What if the big final fight with Thanos is the first ten minutes of the movie? We don't get any lead up, it just starts with everyone getting bodied. He shows up for the Time Gem and just slaughters everyone. Strange is the only one left standing, so he uses the Eye to go back in time and warn everyone (as opposed to the Silver Surfer falling through his skylight like in the comics), so the whole rest of the movie is just everyone trying to prevent their upcoming deaths. This way you get to ratchet up the tension (since they're literally going up against a 100% mortality rate from the get-go) along with a ticking clock element. Plus, the marketing guys get a bunch of footage of people dying to put in the trailers. And even better, you get a free shocker when some characters STILL die even after Strange warns them.

It kinda sucks because I'm afraid that whatever they end up doing would never measure up to something that ballsy and creative.
Really liking how they've changed Thor's character from the stoic, sort of boring guy he was in the first two films to a 'dude bro' funny guy. Thor 3 has the potential to be one of the best, if not the best, MCU films.
That's the main reason I completely gave up on the MCU version of Thor, to be honest
As much as I like Thor being a fun bro, he should at least take himself seriously some times. He's an ancient warrior prince, aside from being a literal demigod. The whole "fuck bitches, drink ale" thing was always more Hercules, Thor always carried himself with more dignity (even if he does enjoy a good bout from time to time). Having him just be Chris Hemsworth's character from the Ghostbusters reboot seems like a real waste of potential; luckily, if that last trailer is anything to go off of, Ragnarok is gonna really embrace Thor's godly side, rather than just keep him as a dumb-as-rocks jobber.
I don't know what cartoon it was, saw a clip on facebook, but it was a fight with Thanos. They baited him into using each stone one at a time instead of all at once, so they were able to hold him off. He actually aged all the avengers to death except Thor who only got stronger the older he got, and used the time ring to rewind that, so everyone was back.
Wasn't that done already in X-Men Future Past or something?
Yes, but it's still a super effective tool that wold have reviewers going "OH MAH SOSHUL JUSTUS I WANTS TO SPOILA ALLA THIS YOU WON'T BELEEVS 100/10 ARMARGAR CLICK HERE FOR SOME MESSED UP SHIT WHAT I SAW" aaand it's rarely done in the cinema in any movie with a budget like this, or even half a budget like this, so it remains super effective on all the pokemans.
Wasn't that done already in X-Men Future Past or something?
I mean kinda, though that was more concurrent, rather than "this happened, now let's go back".
did you have a stroke partway through this post
No, I actually read Rotten Tomatoes reviews instead of just looking at the numbers.
I'm so afraid Vision is gonna die before they become 100% a thing like in the comics :(
I believe the stone already made him alive, he'll already have the power of it, like Scarlet Witch. So when Thanos pulls it out of him, etc, pt2 maybe, Vision will return surprisingly. But, Hawkeye, Thor, or Stark will perished, and so many others, if one guardian of the galaxy could die, might be Drax. Since Avengers 1 in which Capt said to Stark he wouldn't make the sacrifice play, so it could mean Spidey will take his place, to live. edited, so I didn't mean Spidey won't die.
spoilers https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hhIBklzja8o NO WORDS.
"This video is a duplicate of another video" First time seeing that pop up.
Marvel Unlimited likes to put up spotlights on certain arcs/characters that tie into current and upcoming adaptations or "sequel arcs". They've had "teen spider-man", shocker, vulture ones up for awhile, and even Mr Negative since he's the only villain shown off for the Spidey ps4 game. Today I got on and am intrigued to see they've added a Kraven one to the top. "Kraven's Last Hunt", a 6 part arc from the 80s. Makes me wonder if they plan to use him and perhaps this story for something sometime.
Seeing some reviews of Defenders. [sp]I guess they don't team up till Episode 3[/sp] And the USA Today review gave it 2 stars out of 4 because Danny was part of the team and the whitewashing bullshit people still don't have a grip on yet. [editline]•[/editline] https://www.usatoday.com/story/life/tv/2017/07/26/marvels-defenders-netflix-review-daredevil-luke-cage-jessica-jones-iron-fist-better-off-solo/509425001/ Brings up it's a fucking bore and sluggish pacing throughout too.
Is there a word for whitewashing white people [editline]27th July 2017[/editline] Nah I don't even wanna think about that shit again, it's flat out brain dead and just makes those reviews transparent
Is there a word for whitewashing white people [editline]27th July 2017[/editline] Nah I don't even wanna think about that shit again, it's flat out brain dead and just makes those reviews transparent
I've seen people call him a "white savior", not unlike Tom Cruise's character in The Last Samurai. He's white and better at being a different culture than people of that culture etc etc What's funny is that Danny wasn't much of a savior, the show ends with him having fucked up on all fronts. Show Danny is also a terrible Iron Fist.
It seemed as though there were people upset about "white savior" that were characters in the story Like, it's part of it. [editline]27th July 2017[/editline] Someone brought to attention that Defender's is 3 weeks out and the review embargo is lifted now, and that Iron Fist's was just 9 days prior. They speculate this shows more company confidence [editline]27th July 2017[/editline] Although apparently only the first 4 episodes are available to be reviewed [editline]27th July 2017[/editline] Folks at /r/marvelstudios say Collider is a good source on these reviews, so I took a look at the Defenders one and a couple of the other shows, and I think I agree. Might even be worth looking at a follow-up review, they bring some points and perspectives on some things I'd forgotten/didn't notice. http://collider.com/the-defenders-review-netflix/ Their main complaints are how long it takes to get to the point of the show, and that it feels like another prelude rather than a finale. That last part makes me wonder if that's just because they only got to see half the season, though.

Then again, I take any review for a grain of salt.
damn nice here's hoping sony actually does it, no balls imagine if that Tom Hardy Venom was completely scrapped in favor of a good one from MCU
If emoji movie gets no fresh reviews I hope there's a major reshuffle at Sony. Just give Marvel full creative control of Spider-man and his villains
Supposedly they (Sony) were talking about dismantling Sony pictures, and that they are waiting on seeing how the "franchise potential" on emoji movie is. If it loses money and is a critical bomb, there is no franchise potential

TASM made a whopping 757 million (on a budget of 230), TASM 2 made 708 (on a similar budget), and yet that still wasn't enough to keep it alive, though i read they were aiming for a billion the emoji movie was made on a budget of 50 mil, so that significantly lowers the bar, though we have no idea how much they spent on marketing. what's it going to take for it to be considered a failure, i wonder? maybe <150 mil?
Meanwhile...
hopefully disney buys them out then they could detox ghostbusters

Opening weekend projections show 32mil this weekend, but who knows for sure. [editline]28th July 2017[/editline]
hopefully disney buys them out then they could detox ghostbusters
I think let's worry about getting Spider-man back in rightful hands before we dream about them delving into other Sony owned properties. Would be interested in a list of what Disney would now own if they bought out Sony pictures though [editline]28th July 2017[/editline] Quick Wikipedia shows Sony Pictures' film franchises include The Karate Kid, Ghostbusters, Spider-Man, Men in Black, Underworld, Resident Evil, Robert Langdon, The Smurfs (via Peyo), and many more. And I also saw skyfall but I have no idea if they actually hold Bond [editline]28th July 2017[/editline] Looks like after Spectre Sony no longer has the Bond rights.
