Defenders Finale
[sp]What the fuck and how the fuck[/sp]
Same boat as you though I haven't seen any of LC at all. I watched the intro and it does look like you'll need to watch the solo shows because I instantly had no idea what the fuck was going on and that intro fight looked like crap.
I totally agree with you on the intro fight. It was almost nauseating with the way it was shot, how dark it was and how many times it broke the 180 degree rule. It's funny how it's the only fight in the first episode, the rest is respective shows' character figuring stuff out in between seasons.
I am two episodes in and it doesn't seem that LC plot plays that big of a role. All you need to know about it is that Luke is very involved with the community in Harlem, he respects people and people respect him back. He is calm, sometimes corny and probably has a big dick. "Luke" is an identity he had assumed and his mentor figure is dead.
This is a little late, but my biggest gripe with Homecoming was the lack of [sp]music sequences like the one Peter has in Civil War. And the style of music is different.[/sp]
Two episodes in The Defenders and man, any momentum the show manages to muster gets immediately destroyed when the camera is on Iron Fist. Dude's just not a good actor imo.
DD and JJ are carrying pretty hard though.
So I'm only on episode 3 of the defenders [sp] I've never heard of white hat. Is he meant to be a reference to the white man from the Deadpool comics? [/Sp]
Check it out, Luke and the punching bag wear the same colors

I have to say, they did some fun stuff with color grading, there is a bit where Matt enters Jessica's predominantly blue scene through a distinctively red door.
[sp]Blackness is very dense because of all the soul content

I thought Danny Rand was written way better this time around
like, instead of spending a whole series where he makes stupid decisions because the writing is bad he now makes stupid decisions because he's an idiot and [sp]like every other defender thinks he's an idiot and so does the Hand and so does everyone, and then gets captured because he's an idiot, and the whole character arc is basically "this is Danny. He's fucking stupid. One day he might not be, but for now, jesus christ, this guy is the goddamn most stupid hero in NYC and that's just how it is"[/sp]
So how is a season [sp]3 of Daredevil going to work out[/sp] when [sp]he[/sp] fucking died at the end of the final episode?
[sp]but he didn't die?[/sp]
also I'd probably spoiler the whole last phrase if i were in your boots
Defenders finale
[sp]I think the better question is how the fuck did he survive[/sp]
So how is a season [sp]3 of Daredevil going to work out when he fucking[/sp] died?
[sp] the same way he did in the comics [/sp]
Defenders had a too many scenes where a big bad confronts the heroes, instead of fighting they just talk to each other for 5 minutes (IMO worst examples of this are [sp]Kabuto's first appearance when he wounds Colleen, and Alexandra in the Chinese restauraunt[/sp].) my eyes almost rolled out of my head
Finale
[Sp]gonna assume Madame Gao somehow also got out alive[/sp]
Anyone else feel like there were waaaay too many cuts during the action scenes? I can barely make out what's going on half the time.

Well I can safely say now that [sp]Iron Man is going to die in Infinity War[/sp].
[sp]RDJ has been almost exclusively starring in MCU films since Avengers, with maybe one or two films in-between larger projects after Iron Man 3 was done. Then after Infinity War, the guy has like FOUR films slated, meaning he'll have considerably more spare time, meaning his character's the most likely to die.
Second, this armor is just straight up Asgardian design, and it's obviously using an infinity stone - the Space stone has been in containment in Asgard for like five years until the whole place got blown up, so I'm predicting Stark is going to get that stone, put it in his suit and wear it while fighting Thanos, similar to how in the comics Thor gave him a piece of Asgardian tech and Tony immediately used it to build himself the Thorbuster suit.
And since Thanos is after the stones, he's going to grab Stark, smash his chest, and pull that stone out before throwing him into the vacuum of space.[/sp]
What's the consensus on defenders?
Its alright. The group dynamic was fun in the first half but the ending was some shit.
The camera work was incredibly distracting tho. Shots with the foreground almost full of shit thats blurred out by DOF, a thousand dutch angles, and this weird ass feeling like the cameraman in some scenes was like some sort of creeper peering around corners for boring scenes of people talking.
Now we get Punisher next so its all good.
Since I got kind of blindsided by The Defenders already being out, I decided to start Iron Fist and uh...do I need to have seen it before going into The Defenders? Or does IF get better?
Because just 10 minutes into the first episode, I was groaning at what a fucking idiot Danny Rand is and I'm not looking forward to an entire season with the pillock the show introduces us to.

While I personally enjoyed IF, Danny really didn't carry the show for me. I was mainly engaged by the action scenes and the other characters (Ward especially, probably my fav supporting character since Foggy).
I think his stupidity is excusable given that he's not been in "reality" since being a child
He's gullible for awhile but the show got better imo

If you skip IF you'll prolly be like "who the fuck is this" when it comes to the big bads and some minor characters. And if you wanna skip Danny being a dipshit, skip the Defenders aswell :v:

Ward is the best part of IF hands down.
I just don't think that walking into a skyscraper belonging to a huge company and insisting you are someone who's presumed dead, with no evidence of your identity beyond 'seriously guys, it's really me', is excusable writing under any circumstances except if your character was recently lobotomized.
He's been outside of actual civilization since, what, 8-10 years old? Plus he was a sheltered rich kid to begin with. I think it's fair.

When you have three people around who are cool, I think I can deal with Danny.

Oh man, I haven't seen IF so when you said 'Ward' I got really excited cause I thought my boy Brett Dalton was in that show somehow.
I wish they would just make Marvel's Brett Dalton already
Ward Meachum is great, he's hardly like able as a person most of the time, but he's good to watch

This is exactly where they failed for me, though. He's not stupid in the "lived in the mountains" sense, just the "regular stupid" sense
The lowest points of Iron Fist for me were the asylum episode and the scene where the Immortal Iron Fist gets beaten up by a hobo alcoholic at a Chinese dump.
The Defenders was eight hours of moving towards the latter. It's a continuation of the least interesting half of Daredevil season 2 and Iron Fist. Sadly, I wasn't on board with those storylines before and The Defenders did nothing for me. The idea of a team up between those guys was cool, but it lead to a lot of talking and sub-par action scenes. Set-pieces include: a sewer, office space, a closed Chinese restaurant, a parking garage, an engine room, a dark cave. It's not very exciting.
My point is, they could have told a more fun, more engaging, more dynamic story with what they had. Instead, we got ninjas in street wear. Again.

Oh, come on, that shit was stupid, but entertaining as fuck, the guy playing the drunk was a riot!
Currently half way through The Defenders - the team up is sweet stuff, I didn't really realize how much I missed Matty, Foggy, Karen or the more down-to-earth P.I work we see JJ do. Ninja stuff is fun, I'd much rather it stayed in IF. Hopefully The Punisher won't be shooting The Hand for 12 episodes :v: (But encountering The Hand while in 'Nam would be rad).
