i always keep typing better caul saul
That episode was brilliant. I loved that little bit of increased interaction from Mike and Saul. And I [sp]wonder why they had the money bag break at the end. Saul's eyes lit up a bit seeing all that. I think Saul might make an offer to the family next episode. Maybe he'll get their case after all.[/sp]
I think it'll go like [sp] "Give me some of that money and go home, I won't tell the police you stole it." that way he gets some cash AND isn't killed by Nacho [/sp]
First I thought this would be just another light-hearted spin-off that wouldn't fill the hole left by Breaking Bad, but I was proven wrong (in the beginning of the first episode even).

Frankly I'm glad they decided to do another drama with comedy on the side.

Jonathan Banks's aging kind of broke the fourth wall for me a little.
Holy I laughed so fucking hard at that [sp]Here's JOHNNY![/sp]I love you saul
Jonathan Banks's aging kind of broke the fourth wall for me a little.
You think so? He looked pretty much the same to me. Which is alright because once you start getting up there you sorta stay stagnant in the looks department.
A bit early to call but I think I've determined an ending to BCS I'd be happy with. The final season/few episodes are set almost completely after Breaking Bad. It's Saul doing Jesse's trial for all the stuff he's being accused of. How does he come out of hiding? By getting another new identity. That new identity? Jimmy McGill. FULL-CIRCLE! He redeems himself and everything. It'd be good. You guys might not be happy with it but I would be.
this show right now is amazing, on par with breaking bad in my opinion [sp]also I found the Kettlemen's voice mail message to be really creepy since Saul was listening to it from a payphone at 2-3am. It's so cheesy [/sp]

[sp]What if he turns down their money, on the condition that he represents their case? Classic Jimmy.[/sp]
Am I the only one who thinks this show is still just "good" and hasn't BLOWN ME AWAY in any way, shape or form? I mean, I can't really find anything wrong with it, but to compare it to Breaking Bad, arguably the best drama ever written, is laughable to me.
It's a fantastic start. It's hard to compare the two when Breaking Bad has 5 seasons behind it's belt. Breaking Bad had a strong start too but nothing that would really blow you away. I'd actually argue it took a couple of seasons before anything happened in Breaking Bad that would have you sitting on the edge of the seat.

They're somewhat different shows, and they've got different goals. Both are transformation stories, but of course the story about a chemistry teacher-turned drug dealer is going to start off more interestingly than a good lawyer-sleazy lawyer transformation. Considering the overall subject matter of Better Call Saul, it got pretty damn interesting right from the start. Of course it won't be on par with [sp]Crazy-8's bike lock strangulation[/sp], but that's because a lawyer would never do that. All the hard action in this series is going to come from people other than Jimmy, and he's gonna use all his power to talk his way out of it every time.
This episode reminded me a bit of the Fables comic - in the first story arc, Bigby [sp]figures out that a home invasion/murder scene was faked because the damage was too neat, cheap stuff was trashed whiled prized possessions were left intact.[/sp] Also the negotiation in episode 2 reminded me of Telltale dialogue "boss fights". Hey, they should make a BCS game!

I am pretty sure we'll get to the Breaking Bad levels till the end of the season, but right now it's just really, really good (which is an achievement itself). From the standpoint of Breaking Bad longtime fan, it's 10/10 with all these tiny cameos or bits of information expanding the world. But as a series on its own, there's a lack in characters department. And a little bit of subtlety, because everything seems like SYMBOLISM AND FORESHADOWING ("DAE noticed that Chuck gave away his phone when visiting Jimmy, he's literally a prisoner now no half measures") [editline]19th February 2015[/editline] And regardless of anything what was said, it has the same effect on me as Breaking Bad - the episodes feel like 7-10 minutes long, it's just too much fun.
maybe this has been mentioned already but I was re-watching the last few episodes of Breaking Bad and noticed this obvious foreshadowing

Give Better Call Saul some time to get some scenes that can blow us away, also I already think the show is of really high quality with just three episodes. Great acting and writing, I'm loving it.
Something that is bothering me is that he's still living at a shit place while he makes atleast 700 dollars a day
yea probably bothers him too
Something that is bothering me is that he's still living at a shit place while he makes atleast 700 dollars a day
Isn't it $700 per case?
Isn't it $700 per case?
Well that would be pretty odd if he couldn't afford a decent place and car at 700$ a day. I don't think the cost of living in the US is that high.
700 per case.
Something that is bothering me is that he's still living at a shit place while he makes atleast 700 dollars a day
like others have said, 700 dollars a case isnt necessarily 700 dollars a day, plus a man's got living expenses and taxes and shit
Breaking Bad was 10/10 from the start in my opinion. The pilot hooked me before the title card showed up.
tbh, Breaking Bad had such a slow burn at the start, it took like a good 3 episodes for me to get really into it.
