I don't want some of the theories in the spoilers to happen
anyone know the name of the song that was playing when jimsaul was sorting through the shredded documents? [editline]25th March 2015[/editline] found it [sp]time2sample[/sp]
If you're interested in finding out the show's music a day or two after it airs, they usually mention the songs used at some point in the Insider Podcast.
What an episode. I thought three things when Chuck walked out the door. [sp]1. He was faking it this whole time, hence him leaving the house when Jim was asleep. (I quickly marked this off however, since the whole newspaper scene was when nobody was around)[/sp] [sp]2. Chuck is cured! Huzzah! (Well, this is kinda silly since I have no idea why he was cured)[/sp] [sp]3. It was all in his head, and getting caught up in his work took his mind off it. (But.. how did the 'sensitivity' start in the first place?)[/sp] Good shit; can't wait for the next episode.
Spoiler tags please [sp]
Yeah but we all knew [sp]Chuck's illness was psychosomatic as soon as the nurse in the hospital turned the electrical bed on without Chuck knowing, to no reaction[/sp]. Spoilers from a few episodes ago^
What I'm thinking (spoilers for "RICO") [sp]HHM (specifically Hamlin) will claim ownership of the cash settlement because they used Chuck's copier code, thereby using HHM resources on the case[/sp]

Sorry about that; I got overexcited. Thanks for the edit.
Been watching Better Call Saul since the episodes started rolling, I gotta say that although Breaking Bad had me completely hooked around at episode 3, Better Call Saul had me right from the get-go. I can safely say I like it over Breaking Bad, which makes it my favorite TV show of all time. Now, if we get multiple seasons of this goodness, ohoho~...

If you watched BrBa on Netflix after it finished airing, that could definitely play a part in whether you like it. There's the whole matter of waiting a week between episodes, therefore giving you more time to think about it and whatnot.

And no cliffhanger will top this scene and the subsequent nearly a year wait to see everything fall apart Breaking Bad was just a fucking journey, week to week and year to year after seeing [t]http://img.pandawhale.com/78632-executive-producer-Vince-Gilli-lfAw.jpeg[/t] you just had to be invested in it. Binging it just doesn't give it the same feel

I can't imagine having to wait an entire year before the next episode when now the wait is less than a minute.
it was god damn intense
And no cliffhanger will top this scene and the subsequent nearly a year wait to see everything fall apart
As much as I love the ending to S5A and S5B, there's absolutely nothing that comes close in the history of television to make me go "Holy mother of god", with the same shocking value at the end of the season as ending of "Face Off". The last words "I Won", that chilling music and one simple shot showing a fucking plant making people lose their fucking minds. And then waiting a year, not knowing absolutely how this will unfold. [sp]Remember when Walt poisoning a child was perceived as the evilest thing imaginable? Oh, how far we've come.[/sp]

of course people are going to find Breaking Bad more exciting and better - you had 5/6 seasons to grow to love the characters, for them to develop etc. People always use examples from s3/4/5/5b when discussing how exciting and fast paced the show is. Nobody ever remembers s1/s2, slowburners that took their time and weren't too over the top. I'm confident that Better Call Saul is gonna grow into a Breaking Bad-tier show. S1 of BCS is already much better than s1 of BrBa.
Oh man, that episode. [sp]"HHAAAAAAWWWWW" - Gustavo Fring RIP[/sp]
[sp]rest in pieces[/sp] I liked breaking bad more so far just because of the chemistry scenes, but BCS has a good chance of checking up since i'm already hooked.
Don't take this the wrong way but BCS for me so far only had few scenes on the same level as BrBa. It is the best show I'm watching right now though.

I have a theory that maybe I'll elaborate more after BCS first season end, about the core of the show. Few years back Vince stated that he essentially created a contemporary western which was noticeable, not only in themes but also in exposition. I believe that BCS is also being based on one specific genre - noir, or neo-noir specifically. It smelled that way from the beginning, but only Mike episode made the click and very clear homage - hard-boiled cop, one against all odds, rain, etc. If I'm right, BCS will have far less flashy scenes making you go nuts, but will be more coherent as a whole, and in terms of dialogue and relations between characters.

I can see what you mean already - Breaking Bad had loads of desert scenes, big guns, badass outlaws, Marty Robbins music, etc. Better Call Saul takes place mostly in urban environments, a lot of the scenes are filmed at night, guys wearing suits, more focus on the bureaucratic law system, jazz music, one man struggling to beat the odds, white-collar crime.
whats with the usage of old school flip phones and long antennas, isn't it supposed to take place in out time?
whats with the usage of old school flip phones and long antennas, isn't it supposed to take place in out time?
2002. (six years before the events of Breaking Bad, which started in 2008 and mostly took place over one year)
just wayched Ozymandias for the second time (treat hung the series), this episode is like the saddest episode of any TV ever. I cried through the whole thing all over again :(
Rewatching BrBa. [sp]I have the feeling i completely missed the fact that Mike killed the primo that survived in S3. I thought he just didn't resist specially after going crazy on seeing Walt even though they made it obvious with Mike appearing after that and discarding something that was certainly a siringe.[/sp] Feels good to learn something new while rewatching :)

Walter broke bad and started cooking meth in the first episode, after hearing he was going to die from inoperable lungcancer. With Better Call Saul, you're basically just watching Jimmy "have a bad day" for several episodes. After the Tuco episode, me and my friends thought that was going to be the moment he was going to break bad. but no, it just went back to "havin' a bad day" mode again. It's much slower and it feels like far less is happening than in Breaking Bad. It's not a bad series, but so far it's just not as good as Breaking Bad. IMO anyway.

The nature of the show is just fundamentally different. BrBa is a shoot 'em up western while BCS is (so far) a law drama/noir

I feel like it's a bit silly comparing the two shows. They're in the same universe but they are ultimately different kinds of shows, kind of like comparing apples and oranges really.
