Probably because he didn't want do deal with him if he woke up, and he clearly cares enough about his brother to sit around with him all night. He's also been doing this for a long time and he probably doesn't even think about it at this point.

Apparently they shoot everything n 4K but the files are too big to edit efficiently, so they save them at 1080p and the editors do their stuff, then someone else has to make the exact same edits to the 4K files. That montage must've taken a lot of time to make
Also the opening scene with Jimmy's dad from last week's episode was originally shot for season 1

Isn't that just an offline edit? Swapping out the 4k footage for the 1080 is pretty simple, at least in Premiere it is. No need to re-edit anything, you just swap what it's referencing (1080p or 4k)

As far as I can remember they edit in Avid, but yes, that's most likely what they mean. I haven't been keeping up with the podcast, so I'm not sure exactly what they said. I'll probably give them a listen when I eventually re-watch the season.
