The guy plays his parts really well, too.
It's actually kindof strange to see him be the level-headed one among the gangsters.
I can't believe some people are actually MAD over the finale and quitting
The finale was fine, BCS is using the pentaultimate for the "big" episodes, like GoT.
Nothing wrong with that, if someone actually quits the show over a cliffhanger (that's done well, not TWD), then they probably shouldn't be watching the show anyway
Episode was great.
BCS and BB always had enough substance to not make me angry over a cliffhanger because the rest just delivers so much.
hmmm I admit I like Better Call Saul, but I didn't find this season particularly "wow". Thought s1 was superior, and this one took its time a bit too much.

I think this season was way better than the first.
Some neat behind-the-scenes trivia from the podcast:
The upside-down shots of [sp]Chuck in the hospital[/sp] were recorded on a Sony a7s II mounted on his body. It was also used for the close-ups of Chuck's head in the other episode.
The [sp]sniper scope shots were actually filmed through the sniper scope, rather than a regular lens with an effect added in post.[/sp] It's not a huge difference but it makes it all feel more real and personal, with the actual optical effects of the scope.
They also had apparently written a whole script for [sp]the cartel members by the shack. The truck driver was screaming his lungs out the whole time. They were also really proud of the sound delay for the gunshot, since other primetime TV shows would try to go over the top with it, but BCS kept it realistic with just a delayed 'blip'. The sound isolation was also a great setup for the car alarm, since Mike was the only one who heard it because it was too far away for the cartel people to notice.[/sp]
The hospital scenes on this show and BB were so good because they're not heavily dramatized like on other shows, they actually feel like they're in a real hospital
nacho's suit in the finale looks fucking amazing
holy shit what a good episode
fuck chuck
This is some
Good
Fucking
TV.
One other bit of trivia (spoilers for locations in the finale):
[sp]they were going to use Tuco's house for the sniper scene, but when they scouted the location, the building had gone to shit. No one was living there anymore, the roof caved in and there was graffiti everywhere. They considered having the construction crew rebuild it, but it was hot as fuck and the ground around the building was flat, no good sniping spots. So instead they built a little three-sided facade near a big old hill[/sp]
better fuck chuck

That's amazing. The A7 II is such an inexpensive camera as well, considering the punch it packs.
That last scene was just too good.
I am truly hyped for season 3.
This episode showed a lot of[sp]Chuck's psychological hatred for his brother. He was always the better brother in terms of behavior, and yet his own dying mother loved Jimmy more. It's cleche for sure, but what separates this villain from the one in Specter is that the writers know how to show and not tell the inner struggle of an unappreciated child.[/sp]
what i love about chuck particularly is that it's so easy to just write a cunt older brother and get everyone to hate him. but you really struggle to have any vitriol for chuck because he's such a fleshed out, 3 dimensional character.
the same can be said about most breaking bad characters. there's so many shades of grey because that's how life is - nobody's straight up good or evil. everyone is complex and often sad

it's just something the show's writing does so well. creating believable and compelling characters that feel like real people with real emotions. nobody's straight up hatable
that long shot when Chuck [sp]is in the hospital and he's trying to get up while you hear random chatter, with the nurses and the doctor trying to calm him down[/sp] is haunting. You can't not feel empathetic for Chuck in that moment
By the way, Jimmy still has a way out. [sp]All he really has to do is say he said what he said because his brother is crazy and wanted to make him feel better. Then bribe the clerk again/more and Chuck's recording has surely lesser value.[/sp]
So let me guess what's going to happen next: [sp]Chuck is going to take Jimmy to court, where Jimmy will face a dilemma. Either:
- Let Chuck win, which will lead to both Jimmy and Kim being disbarred and arrested: Jimmy for the forgery and bribery, and Kim for being an accessory of the forgery. Or,
- Jimmy will win by probably proving that his brother is insane and that he said what Chuck recorded because he was trying to appeal to his 'insane' brother, which will lead to Chuck being locked up in a mental house or something. HHM will also collapse because Chuck, as a senior partner, was proven insane in a court of law, so HHM will appear incompetent. Especially with the Mesa Verde stuff.
Jimmy will win of course, but Kim will leave him because her name has forever become tainted (Mesa Verde will probably part with her) and she'll feel guilty for HHM collapsing. Jimmy, now with nothing left because he just had his brother locked away and Kim has left him, decides to say fuck it and start fresh as a new man: Saul Goodman.[/sp]
I am expecting it to not go like that at all, especially because no one predicted how that last episode would go. And what I just wrote is way too predictable.

A big part of it is that the writers try to further the plot based on what the character would do, rather than trying to write them into situations that don't make sense. They didn't know Hector Salamanca was going to be in this season until they wrote the whole Tuco fight. They spent a few weeks thinking of every possible outcome, and the only one that made sense was for his uncle to come after Mike with the cousins, just like what happened in Breaking Bad.
oh my god what a fucking cliffhanger
it's tragic that [sp]the one time jimmy is 100% honest is when he gets fucked over the hardest[/sp]
it's important to note that [sp]he worded it so that he won't get fucked over later[/sp]

[sp]exactly. "of course i'm saying it to make you feel better"[/sp]
The clincher though was [sp]"is this a confession?"[/sp]
I'm watching the first BB episodes where Jimmy appears and he's quite different in them. I see like no trace of the likeable guy we now from BB.
[sp]I wonder if Jimmy will use his Temporary Emergency Guardianship to help his case somehow[/sp]

Broken, scummy, and at rock-bottom, right? Makes me optimistic for BCS' series finale...
its sad that this is pretty much a tragedy. I want him to be successful so badly.

[sp]The Cinnabon is actually a movie set. After Breaking Bad he is forgiven by the feds and becomes an Oscar winning actor.[/sp]

I noticed the delayed gunshot because of the distance and was particularly impressed. It wasn't loud and Hollywood-style either.
