Watched the first episode a few hours ago, I was a bit worried but it beat all my expectations. I should never have doubted the genius of Odenkirk, he made BB for me so I was so hyped when this show was announced. I'm really looking forward to the next episode now.
Why would you watch a [drama] spin off show without having first seen the original series? Of course it won't be as good if you don't watch the original...
I enjoyed it. I hope to see Saul get into more zany shenninigans. [sp]That Tuco at the end![/sp]
Somehow I thought the episode was over when [sp] Saul was talking to the 2 skater guys and says Go with God, so I turned the channel. Didn't know what anyone was talking about when they were referencing Tuco. I feel so dumb [/sp]
How dare you even touching the remote before:
i never thought i'd have to suffer from 'EXECUTIVE PRODUCER VINCE GILLIGAN' ever again and here i am
I enjoyed that, I was playing a guessing game of when abouts was it set and I really enjoyed the little nods here and there (music choice was infinitely better than Breaking Bad too).
Good to be back.
God that is such a good fucking theme song.
6.9 million tuned in for Better Call Saul last night.
One thing I hope they'll stick to for the rest of the season is having the scenes from post-Breaking Bad in monochrome, and maintain the elements from Saul's past in colour. It's quite refreshing.

Just saw the first episode. Thought that it wasn't too bad for the first ep, but that ending cliffhangar has me hooked for more.
Fuckin...[sp]Tuco Salamanca.[/sp]

In this example I mean you won't enjoy Better Call Saul as much if you didn't watch Breaking Bad first. That's not to say you can't end up liking Better Call Saul more than Breaking Bad in the end, I just mean you won't get as much out of BCS if you didn't watch BB first. [editline]9th February 2015[/editline] To be honest I might be joining you in the camp of people that prefer BCS to BB. Obviously it's too early to tell now but that opening episode was real good.
I have to say the thing I like most about BCS is the distribution model. Never before was I able to legally watch a show without having to wait several years. Fuck yeah Netflix!
Plus we don't have to put up with ads. It's real good.
Gilligan & gang really know how to set a scene. That [sp]injury fraud [/sp] scene was excellent. A perfect, flashy, and seemingly brilliant setup, great pacing, and [sp]classic Breaking Bad style of execution. The plan was great, but nothing ever goes completely perfect with Saul/Jimmy.[/sp] I love the cinematography and I'm hoping for some of the great transitions that Breaking Bad had. Hopefully the show will evolve and find its style, but so far I'm loving the Comedy/Drama of BCS. I didn't notice this until I found it online. Spoilers if you haven't watched the first episode. [sp]“If I'm lucky, a month from now, best-case scenario, I'm managing a Cinnabon in Omaha.”[/sp] -Granite Slate Keep at it, Saul... you never know.
EDIT: BUT I might feel that way because I'm already familiar with the character of Saul. If someone who hasn't seen either show, I wonder what they'd think.
I've never seen a full episode of breaking bad, everything felt so slow and uninteresting. Like [sp] guy complaining about money, isn't that good of an attorney, and rejects 26k because he wants the firm to buy the guy out? [/sp] Only part I laughed at was when [sp] The skateboarder first tried scamming him. [/sp] (just giving my opinion on a show with no knowledge of the original story.)
For a first episode that was pretty solid, at first it was a little slow but [sp]about midway when Saul met with those two brothers, oh man. I also loved how they gave us a glimpse into the future too, poor Saul looked like such a broken guy at the Cinnabon[/sp] Needless to say I'm interested to see how tomorrow will unfold.
I like how this show has a different cinematographic style overall, but that particular opening was recorded like a Breaking Bad scene.
I like how this show has a different cinematographic style overall, but that particular opening was recorded like a Breaking Bad scene.
it was an ode to breaking bad's cooking scenes, was an amazing reference and cleverly done. The whole episode felt very well shot, and I hope they continue the quality. Does anyone know who the skaters were? They looked familiar. I swear I've seen them in some other show.

Awesome, the intro changes with each episode.
Awesome, the intro changes with each episode.
Yeah biznatch
Awesome, the intro changes with each episode.
I'm thinking it'll probably cycle through a handful of them
[sp] Tuco is one of my favorite BrBa characters. Can't wait to see what he does in this episode. [/sp]
For some reason it seems like he's playing a different character though Edit: no yeah that's him nevermind
This is great
Well I sort of got my wish. [sp]"You are the worst lawyer ever!"[/sp]
