Any idea [sp]why did the power meter keep going? I kinda expected Chuck to find something[/sp] :v:
[sp]Everyone's saying Chuck is dead, do we know it for sure?[/sp]

this is not the caliber of show to cop out on something like that
Not all that sympathetic for Chuck tbh call me heartless
Heartless! Chuck did a lot of things wrong, but [sp]I wouldn't wish a death like that on my worst enemy (if I had one.)[/sp]
Anyway, that was a solid 10/10 episode for me despite [sp]the lack of Mike. A few of this season's later episodes have been sub-par compared to the show's standard, but that was a fantastic finale. Not to absolve Chuck of all guilt, but I've always had some sympathy for him. His intentions were to do uphold the law and keep his con-artist brother from becoming a "criminal" lawyer. He was right about Jimmy feeling guilty then returning to default, and even though he's partly to blame, it's understandable why he felt so isolated. Telling Jimmy that he's never mattered that much though, that was the biggest fuck Chuck moment of them all. It clearly mattered to him on some level, given what he did next.
Side note: Whoever played young Chuck was a great fit, looked and spoke very like him.[/sp]

imagine if season 4 of breaking bad began with you finding out that [sp]gale dodged jesse's bullet super quickly on some matrix shit[/sp]
this is not the caliber of show to cop out on something like that
[sp]I'm not saying he hid under a dumpster, just maybe he's gonna make it to the hospital before he croaks in the season premier or something. People sound so certain and I don't think I'm ready to make that conclusion.[/sp]

[sp]What if it wasn't[/sp]
[sp]Chuck got fired twice in the finale, damn[/sp]

really because s2e1 erased all character and plot development from the entirety of s1
really because s2e1 erased all character and plot development from the entirety of s1
Can you explain because I don't recall this happening.

[sp]Okay so I drafted some of my thoughts into an image document for handy reference to specific events - http://i.imgur.com/YfXazxY.png[/sp]
In my opinion Season 2 redeemed Season 1's shoddy ending by fleshing out its developments, not erasing them. I remember at the time people weren't big on that finale and feeling that [sp]Jimmy wouldn't walk away from a multi-million dollar dream deal. It was just jarring. S2e1 inserted a scene to explain why, then spent a whole episode with Jimmy regretting it, then a lot of the season was dedicated to how he couldn't fit into his new job.[/sp] It was a minor U-turn but one well worth taking.

I mean, [sp]Walter did the same by refusing to accept Gretchen and Elliot's money[/sp]
I like how both characters share some experiences

s1e10 Jimmy rejects his job offer, wears his friends ring, swears to never go straight again. At this point he's Saul in all but name.
S2e1 Jimmy reverts back to being a good boy and crawls back to the job he just rejected and ignores his idea of never letting morals get in the way of money again so that we can have a whole of season of the same character arc. They bring Jimmy up again just so we can see him fall again but it's redundant and stupid and killed the pacing.
[sp] I'm sure my reading is entirely off with this, but I like to think Chuck's choice of suicide method was somewhat thought out by him. It appears that he's just kicking the table in some sort of delirium, but in my mind Chuck is choosing to die via house fire (a notably/potentially painful method of suicide) to make sure it looks like an accident, as to make sure none of his friends or family believe him to have gotten so low in his mental health that he committed suicide. The idea that Chuck would have so much pride in himself to the very end to the point that he chooses the most painful way out is some sort of fucked up. But again, I'm probably way off with my reading. [/sp]

I dunno, it kind of seems like a throw back to Breaking Bad. Jimmy is trying a 'half measure', he doesn't want the straight-as-an-arrow lawyer gig, but he's not breaking bad either. He's running his own sleazy law firm, a bit in between the two. I'm hoping the next season will be Jimmy going 'Full measure'.

[sp]What about all the household appliances that have been scattered over the front lawn?[/sp]
[sp]What about all the household appliances that have been scattered over the front lawn?[/sp]
[sp]To be fair throwing electronic shit onto the lawn seems pretty tame as far as Chuck goes, for people who knew of his condition. Suicide is another barrel entirely.[/sp]
[sp]It was really interesting seeing Gus save Hector, I have been rewatching Breaking Bad while waiting for Better Call Saul's new episodes and it really shows how ruthless he was in wanting to torture the bastard even then.[/sp]
[sp]Watching Jimmy try to cling on to caring about what people think about his actions is a massive contrast to how he is in Breaking Bad where he stops giving a fuck, I really can't wait to see what it is that finally pushes him over the edge.[/sp]
You know, as much as I hated Chuck like the next one, [sp]I am actually kinda glad he's getting better now though.[/sp]
So much for that lmao.
[sp]Truth be told now, I'm scared about what happens to Kim next. She's such a great character. It's worrying to think what happened to her between Better Call Saul and Breaking Bad.[/sp]
Kind of ironic how Chuck [sp]said that everyone around Jimmy gets hurt, yet Chuck ends up killing off his last two real pieces of human interaction, and ends up suffering more because of it to the point where he (may have) killed himself.[/sp]
How can you possibly hate Chuck and not have atleast a bit sympathy for him. This show doesn't have a single black&white character that I can recall of. There are no 'bad' guys or just 'good' guys besides some very small minor characters that barely got any depth.
The characters in the show have their reasons and backstories for why they act the way they act, just like, you know, real life.
I bet you BCS could show a flashback scene of Don Eladio's childhood where he's being extremely abused and traumatized and you'll feel bad for him.
I'll say it again, Chuck's actor has been the best in the show for the last two seasons.
That courtroom scene from Chicanery was mind blowingly good as far as actimg goes.
That scene was fucking awesome, his Not a Real Lawyer argument with Jimmy is my favourite hands down though. Besides Chuck, my favourite scene all over has been the Scam Montage from Season One. Makes me laugh so much.
[sp]"Sir, sir, can you help me, tell me, are these todays numbers?"[/sp]
Fuck Chuck
[sp]Even his suicide was just a shallow attempt to get people to feel sorry for him and make Jimmy feel like shit. "oh look, my poor mentally ill brother, killed by accident in a crazed fit of lunacy". What an asshole.
Loved the foreshadowing with the lantern in the flashback intro[/sp]
chuck is mentally ill dude. bit rough hey

[sp] Of course he was mad at Jimmy but the point was that he'd lost his purpose in life. He devoted his whole life to being an upstanding lawyer and without that, he saw no reason to go on. [/sp]
the season finale placed 7th on the monday night ratings, just behind "Teen Mom" and "Baseketball Wives"
