the execution was very confusing until the final shot. should have shown a little more during it because i had no idea what was happening. i mean ragnar explained it earlier, sort of, but the scene was still really vague
I'm glad that's done and over with it. Was getting a little tired of[sp]all the back and forth between Jarl Borg, Horick, and Ragnar.[/sp]

plainly put, your back is cut open and your ribs broken and moved aside from the spine and your lungs ripped out from where they are and placed outside and you shortly die an extremely painful death due to trauma, blood loss and suffocation from your lungs not being able to function (no diaphragm to make you actually breathe). heres a pic to help imagine it

and apparently if he suffered it in silence he'd be able to enter Valhalla (viking heaven if you didn't know for some reason), but I've literally never heard of that before so I suspect its a hollywood addition to add tenseness to the scene
watching that scene was excruciating knowing what Ragnar was doing to him
What exactly is the grievance [sp]Floki has with Ragnar?[/sp]
It seems so out of the blue in the story.

Think back to S1, where Ragnar was some poor farmer of some backwood small thing, and Floki lived in his shack. They were both buds who had dreams of being badasses together, raiding and getting rich. But since then, Ragnar has become the Earl of the town, regularly deals with people of higher rank like kings, has become much richer and has a large number of men under him. He uses and disposes of people as he pleases, and is becoming harder to trust. Meanwhile, Floki still lives in a shack in the woods. Not to mention he still seems to care greatly for Aethelstan, whom Floki has a great dislike for. Basically Ragnar has gotten lucky/is just good, and has improved his stature and Floki is jealous.
I think its a case where Ragnar has traded his friendship with Floki for ambition and climbing the ladder of fame and fortune
Seems rather petty, to me. It's not as if Floki was forbidden to have any of the gold in the raids. I suppose Ragnar could give Floki a bit more credit for his success but considering betrayal seems a bit surreal from Floki.
Wait where did betrayal come in? Did I forget something? I thought he just wanted to not have Ragnar at his wedding because for once he wanted his wedding to be about him and Helga and not have Ragnar making a scene at it
I inferred it from the previews for next week's episode and [sp]Siggy telling King Horik that Floki is having trouble with Ragnar. I can only expect that Horik, fearing Ragnar's ambitions, will make his way into manipulating Floki against him.[/sp]
Come on, Ragnar. It's like you're doing it to piss Horik off on purpose.
And so [sp]Ivar The Boneless was born[/sp]. In the saga he's actually Ragnar and Krakas (Aslögs) firstborn son.

Why did you spoiler tag that? The episode name is "Boneless" :v:

He clearly is, he knows that Horik is weak
I saw an interesting theory on reddit and I think it explains how Ragnar is so apathetic to his closest friends turning on him, and also lends credit to his political genius.
[sp]Floki, Siggy, and probably Lagertha, are in cahoots with Ragnar to get close to Horik and become his allies - while appearing to want to betray Ragnar, so when the time is right and an eventual conflict comes when Horik feels powerful enough again, they'll switch their support back to Ragnar and he can win[/sp]
In the last episode when Horik gets mad at Ragnar for Torsteinn, he looks back to Floki and gives him a look, and Floki runs off to Horik's tent. And in that same scene it seemed like Lagertha was just playing to Horik's ego when she says so strongly that 'King Horik is right'/
I can see that for Lagertha, but Floki seems more sincere about it. Especially with the previews for this week's coming episode, showing a battle where Horik wants to (at least probably implied) foolishly charge instead of holding back like Ragnar and Floki charges with the king.
I hope Floki doesn't die because of picking the wrong side.
It also occurs to me that if the Norse could just get their ducks sorted out and stop having dickwaving contests with each other, they could seriously conquer England without breaking a sweat.

All I know of him is what I've heard on History Channel's "Barbarians!" which showed him to be a complete badass despite being crippled. Even though one historian on the show implied "boneless" may not have been about his legs but what was between them :v:
God damnit Hårek

I was on board with this theory until I saw the sneak peek for the final episode.
[sp]In the sneak peek, Floki looks like he's giving Rolo some poisonous mushrooms and makes Rolo consume them. Knowing how previews have played out though (Floki dying at the hands of Rolo & Jarl Borg in the season opener), I'm pretty sure Rolo isn't going to die and Siggy or maybe even Athelstan come to his rescue and stop Floki. But seriously, fuck King Horik.[/sp]
next week is the season finale
i'm gonna have so much fun marathoning this shit, oh damn this reminds me i gotta check that facebook vikings game thing
I really can't picture Siggy [sp]killing Ragnar's sons. She helped bring them into this world, I'm sure she has a slight motherly attachment to them.[/sp]
In other news, fuck King Horik up the ass.
man princess kwenthrith is horny af
man princess kwenthrith is horny af
[sp]She need an entire castle and closest villages to fuck her while waiting in turns in queue[/sp]
She's disgusting.
I'll admit, Floki really had me believing right up until the last minute :v:
That was so satisfying oh my god
I was ready to hate the show for making [sp]Floki go from an interesting supporting character to a villain[/sp] for absolutely no reason,
that was an amazing episode.
Dat finale.
Yeah, we’re gonna attack Paris. Paris was the most extraordinary city. It was still a Roman city, and it was like nothing else on earth. We’re just building that, at the moment, on the backlot.
I am so excite.
oh my god I love this show
That ending was great, [sp]Ragnar headbutting the shit out of Horick - then cutting to him on that mountain.[/sp]
This show has come a long way.

Ragnar has come a long way.
Since none of you beardless milk-drinkers have kept the thread active, I'd like to point out that S2 is available for pre-order and will be released on Oct. 7th, two days before Leif Eriksson Day. Hinga dinga durgy.
Can't wait for the attack on paris in season 3
Might as well post the trailer for the third season in case anyone missed it
