I just want the next companion to be either an alien or from the future. If (s)he's from 21st century britain again i will scream.

Even a dynamic like s10 would be nice again, an alien who is familiar with some of the stuff and a normal run of the mill companion. If it's just one companion who is from 21st century britain that'd be so zz

ok but the master turning good was a total 180 out of nowhere and i didnt really like 'the doctor's best friend' thing moffat did with her. i prefer a simm-like master.

I'd prefer the thing they did with Matt Smith. A little short film would detract from the regeneration and the first moments of the new Doctor.

in her first appearance her evil plan is ultimately to give the doctor a present because she "wants her friend back"

from there, in the s9 opener, she progresses further into a kind of companion for an episode with the evil still showing through sometimes

and then the s10 arc slowly explains how she eventually gets from there to finally being able to be good in the end before promptly dying

fair play if you don't like what moffat did with the character but it wasn't out of nowhere, it was a clearly progressing story arc

I'll make my guess tomorrow when I've had a bit of time to think about it. Jodie Whittaker is an interesting idea though - has that been rumoured at all or just an educated guess since she worked with Chib on Broadchurch?

It's a name I've seen thrown around a bit, but I don't think there's any solid backing behind it beyond the fact she was on Broadchurch.

Marshall and Chibnall will have to do some heavy lifting if Marshall is cast if they want to save the show's ratings. He's not a gimmick Doctor, he's entirely unremarkable looking no matter how you dress him up and the general, passing reaction will be "Oh look, its the lad from My Family as the new Doctor, remember him hun?" and switch the channel to Britains Got Talent.

I've got no problems with him as an actor, even if he isn't my first choice, and I'm excited for Chibnall's Who but this is a big first hurdle.

I know he's busy with other projects but I'd love to see Richard Ayoade as a main character. Why not a male Doctor with an adult male companion experiencing a bromance like Sherlock Holmes, Lethal Weapon, Spock and Kirk?
