What is /tv/ doing right now? Don't have time to look.
sonic dildo jokes, >still not ginger, but on the whole the mood is "eh its ok"
What is /tv/ doing right now? Don't have time to look.
/who/ is pretty balanced between people saying the show is ruined and everyone else laughing at them.
please please please write her like Gwen and not like River Song please please
The internet is a really hospitable place when it comes to women
djjkxbox come out and comment you coward
Not sure if he thinks I am lying about the Doctor being a father figure, or he thinks I'm a lesbian and secretly lusted after Clara et al
The internet is a really hospitable place when it comes to women
I don't think this has anything to do with how the internet feels about women, that's a separate topic
Got to admit, this is going to pull a HUGE audience in to see what she's like. More than any other choice would've. Popular actor from popular show and happens to be a woman. This is the shake up the show needed.
i'm interested in doctor who again
i hope thats not her costume too similar to capaldi
nah I don't think it is EDIT: to be clear I don't think it's her costume not I don't think it's like capaldi's
i hope thats not her costume too similar to capaldi
It looks like it's supposed to be 12's - holey jumper and all - even if it's not actually 12's jacket.
Cosplay should be interesting, wonder what her outfit is going to be like.
I want to tell the fans not to be scared by my gender” said Whittaker. Because this is a really exciting time, and Doctor Who represents everything that’s exciting about change. The fans have lived through so many changes, and this is only a new, different one, not a fearful one.
http://www.radiotimes.com/news/2017-07-16/13th-doctor-jodie-whittaker-i-want-to-tell-the-fans-not-to-be-scared-by-my-gender
12) Is that your costume in the filmed sequence which introduced you as the new Doctor? No.
https://blogtorwho.com/jodie-whittakers-first-interview-announcement-13th-doctor/
Now for the real question -- will the companion be a guy or a girl?
Now for the real question -- will the companion be a guy or a girl?
one of each please
Now I'm trying to figure out how they'll pull off the next regeneration after Jodie. If they go back to a man, the shitstorm will engulf the world.
Interesting choice, seen her in lots of things over the years but only really as a supporting cast member never as a lead, (outside of broadchurch that is, be she's part of an ensemble there.) The fact the Doctor will be a woman does not bother me but I do think it's a risk, especially moreso as the first doctor under new writers. Peaked my curiosity none the less.
Now I'm trying to figure out how they'll pull off the next regeneration after Jodie. If they go back to a man, the shitstorm will engulf the world.
It depends how well it all works out. If it's received poorly, they will go back to a man
I just really want a serialised series. Enough of the 2005 mentality. That's the change we really need. TV has moved on. Character development is the name of the game. And actual character development. Not Doctor Who character development where a character keeps repeating phrases before saving the day with love and a speech about who they are.
At least they got the show trending again [editline]16th July 2017[/editline]
Now I'm trying to figure out how they'll pull off the next regeneration after Jodie. I'm wondering if the character will have trouble adjusting to being a woman. As far as I know there's no mention of the Doctor having been female before, so he was a boy and a man for one hell of a long time.
At least they got the show trending again
Anyone saying the show will be cancelled and they will never watch again will just contribute to the Chibnall era starting off with solid ratings. One way or another, this is already the shot in the arm we needed.
IT WAS IN FRONT OF US THE WHOLE TIME
I just remembered. Curse of Fatal Death was written by Moffat. It had the Doctor regenerate a few times, and Thirteenth Doctor was a woman. He played us like a damn fiddle
I really hope she isn't written like River Song or Clara. I hope she's more of a bookish, quiet Doctor. That'd be big subversion of expectation. But we shall see. I'm excited!
I can't remember any story where the gender of the Doctor was super important, apart from all the boring-ass "I wanna date him" companions. So I guess if them changing a character's gender (when that gender never really mattered) makes you stop being a fan of the show, that's all on you, not them.
