I'd like to see a series without a companion one day, It would be interesting to see just The doctor on their own.

I've been meaning to watch Attack the Block for a while, now seems like the perfect time to do so. If you're someone in this thread who hasn't seen Broadchurch and doesn't mind TV that's a bit depressing now is also a great time to do watch it with Chibnall having written it and Whittaker being one of the starring roles, would completely recommend it.

If the doctor didn't regenerate into a woman they wouldn't be upset, there for the fact she regenerated into a woman is the reason they're upset.

The Doctor has always been a man because the character was originally cast as a man, and it's taken years for social attitudes to change enough for people to accept a woman in the role. People are unhappy now [I]because[/I] the character has been male for so long, they now think that the character must [I]always[/I] be male. When in fact the main reason for that is the producers/public not being ready for that change. My reservation going forward is not the choice of casting, because imo they've never got a casting decision wrong. I worry that the writing will let the character down. Now that Moffat's out of the picture, hopefully we can move beyond every female character being a sassy bossy dominatrix lady. As was said earlier, if the character is written as "I'm the Doctor" rather than "I'm the first female Doctor and I'm going to mention that every week" then it'll be fantastic.
