The Doctor Who Spoilers and Speculation Thread V2 - The End of an Era (The Moff Falls)

Dan Mindel (who is South African-American) posted a picture on instagram, behind the lens of supposedly the interior Cape Town set (I can't access it from here). He was the DP on JJ Abrams' Star Trek films & The Force Awakens... aswell as Mission Impossible III, the new Pacific Rim and Amazing Spider-Man 2, amongst many others.

Just thought I'd say that these are some great interviews with Moffat.
i'm not trying to be horrible but i really can't help it, Cristel Dee honestly ruins those interviews with her exaggerated reactions. She's just SO obnoxious, I cannot stand her. Really really REALLY hope Chinballs bins off the Fan Show and replaces it with something more like 05-10 Confidential. Waste of money imo.

This is weird. I was literally looking him up the other day.
I was thinking how pedestrian Force Awakens photography looked compared to The Last Jedi. So I looked it up to see who it was that JJ used. Then I saw he did the Star Trek films too which makes sense because while the first film refreshed the look of Star Trek- it was never spectacular. Star Trek Discovery has far better cinematography than the JJ films.
Still a very big signing and shows how seriously Chibs is taking the look of the series. It was in desperate need of modernising. Sci-fi TV at the moment looks breathtaking (Black Mirror and Star Trek Discovery are beautiful). In comparison Doctor Who looks like a soap with monsters. I'm expecting Jodie's era to look very cinematic. I was already excited when I read they were now using very expensive film lenses. This era will look very striking compared to the others based on that alone.
Everything I hear about this show at the moment bodes very well.

Shows like Confidential are dead.
TV shows have their own talk shows now. You're more likely to get a Talking Who programe in the same vein as Talking Dead or that Star Trek one. Even Stranger Things had one.
Christel is a long time Doctor Who fan who has been making videos in the community for years. How nice to have a genuine fan in that position. She "produces" it too. Knowing how the BBC works I'm willing to bet she's paid basically nothing to essentially make it by herself. Fair play to her.
Didn't even realize Netflix had Doctor who on it, got something else to binge watch after watching Black Mirror

Since when has Doctor Who been back on Netflix?
Since when has Doctor Who been back on Netflix?
No idea, like I said I didn't even know it was on Netflix, kinda crazy that Netflix has series 1-9 but bbc doesn't have much on their own site
On the French Netflix we only have series 5 to 9 sadly
Do you guys think Season 9 would have been better if in Hell Bent the hybrid was revealed to be the Nintendo Switch all along?
Since when has Doctor Who been back on Netflix?
It's never gone off of Netflix for me (Aus)
On the French Netflix we only have series 5 to 9 sadly
Same with the Finnish one, they removed 1-4 when series 9 was added. Four brilliant seasons traded for one mostly subpar season.
That made me really mad at the time.
I think it's a shame that recent seasons have been more about the Doctor scaring the enemy with his reputation, rather than doing investigating and solving a mystery. It's the Mystery that made it such a great show. Something weird happens, the Doctor investigates the mystery, discovers a problem and comes up with a clever way to solve it. In the new episodes something weird happens, the Doctor knows what it is, won't say, forces his friends into a moral dilemma, lectures his friends on how terrible the human race is, presses a button which saves the day.
Happy 84th Birthday, Tom Baker (for another two hours)!

Seems that at least some of the South Africa filming [sp]stands in for Alabama, 1955 - quite possibly featuring Rosa Parks.[/sp]
New set pic for series 11 [sp]with a possible return of judoons or sontarans [/sp]

Because it is cheap

I’m kinda surprised he seems to still have most of the bits to his costume, but at the same time I’m not. Guess it’s just the thing with your costume just being several different suits and trainers.

My guess is that whilst some of the clothes he wore were easy to obtain - the rest were from specific sci-fi shops or close enough pieces because he's never worn a tie like that and the coat looks like the abbyshot one.

If he's the Doctor in this then hasn't he technically married his own daughter?

iirc Tennant said in an interview that he kept the suit when he departed the show, which would explain why in DOTD the suit looks a bit more ill-fitted than when he had his tenure and why he has it in this little snippet.
On that note, I could've sworn I read that David & Georgia split up? :vs:
BBC Worldwide Showcase in a few weeks. It will be on show for potential buyers - Whittaker will be there.

Already highly anticipated, Series 11 heralds a brand-new era for Doctor Who with a world-class team at the helm. Incoming lead writer Chris Chibnall has a fresh and inclusive vision for the series. Bigger and bolder than ever, this series marks the arrival of Jodie Whittaker, the 13th Doctor – a super-smart force of nature, alongside a team of new and delightful characters. The show will be full of action and adventure, humour and thrills. An unmissable high-end drama everyone will enjoy.

It did look like they were going for a more naturalistic/nature sort of angle for 13 from the promos. I guess that's true.
are they gonna go with rain and druidic shit and lightning
are they going to go too far with the metaphorical oncoming storm
I'll settle for fucking anything different after like half a decade of DE IMPOSHIBUL GURL. Fucking soufflés, really?
Dunno if late, but I just found this (0:56). Guess this explains why Twelve disliked pears :v:

Steven Moffat releases the original version of the 50th anniversary script featuring the 9th Doctor.
Doctor Who fans can finally get an insight into how the show's 50th anniversary special might've played out if Christopher Eccleston had agreed to return. Steven Moffat included the ninth Doctor in his first draft of 'The Day of the Doctor', but rewrote the script to feature John Hurt's War Doctor when Eccleston declined to appear. But now, a script from the earlier draft will be released for the first time, and it's all for a very good cause. The excerpt will appear in A Second Target For Tommy, a collection of Doctor Who short stories being published by Obverse Books, with all the proceeds going to support writer Tommy Donbavand, who is battling cancer.
Still forever mad it wasn't 8.
