I've been listening to classical music in here by myself for well over an hour now. http://www.mumuplayer.com/facepunch Someone join please.
who's chopin? are you chopin firewood or something?
My dad used to own a record shop and someone phoned in asking for Chopin, spelling it shopan. Anyway, this song is used in a lube or condom or something advert but it's really catchy and now when I whistle it people think I'm a pervert. (The bit starting at 0:45)
How in the hell did I not find this thread before? I love classical music. These two are probably my favorite pieces Also, Igor Stravinsky motherfucker.

Anyone who can recommend really dense pieces, as in kind operatic but something that pushes bounderies you know?
Alban Berg's Wozzeck is for you. It was a very out there and ground breaking piece, and, surprisingly, also a big hit.
Nice, thanks. Although I think watching the video helps a lot more to enjoy it. I'll have a go at this album though
hit me with some oriental classical compositions. [editline]13th May 2012[/editline] such as here:
Solo piano arrangement of a chinese folk tune, performed excellently by Lang Lang, so pretty :3

Probably the first record of its kind that I've listened to, renaissance. I'm a bit of a newb when it comes to describing classical stuff, but this is very soothing. It has a mellow vocal, unlike "operatic" stuff which vibratos the hell out of things, here it merely flows with the music. Very much recommended if you're after a new flavour of classical other than the symphony stuff. The compositions are very heart-warming too, not sure if they're famous but they are really well written.
yeah Dowland is really beautiful stuff:
hey ya'll this is my local orchestra performing tchaikovsky's 1812 overture, accompanied by live cannon enjoy [editline]27th May 2012[/editline] skip to 1:50 btw
Four Seasons
Four Seasons
Every time I hear those two words together, I instantly think of December 1963, not Vivaldi. I only like Spring, I can't really seem to enjoy the rest of the songs.
Four Seasons
Autumn!
Bumping this thread would be better than starting a new one. But does anyone know of any music that is similar to this song: It sounds like a Jazz Quartet/Orchestra duet, and it's brilliant - but i have no idea where to even start searching.
George Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue is a fantastic jazz oriented classical piece
Schoenberg is one of my favorite composers, and in my opinion one of the greatest thinkers of the 20th century. The piano concerto is something I will play one day.
I love Schoenberg and wish I could play his piano concerto one day too. I read his theory of harmony book after losing interest in other ones I was reading. I think his violin concerto, string trio, piano pieces, and other works are sick. I've also never heard anything like his op. 50 before. His music got me interested in other composers like Webern who I really like now. Glenn Gould has recordings for a lot of Schoenberg and Webern pieces on youtube. The Schoenberg website has all of his work to listen to but youtube or other sites usually have better recordings. Necropost. Hauntingly beautiful. Bastardized by Diablo III recently, unfortunately...
Been listening to this album: it's fucking magic

It's a fantastic piece.
will listen to: Have no idea what to expect. [editline]25th June 2012[/editline] [editline]25th June 2012[/editline] unbelievable. Jazz oriented Gregorian Chants.
Reviving this thread to post my newest love: Gliere's third symphony, nicknamed Illya Muromets. A monumental symphony with an almost cult-like status. It's sure as hell worth a listen:
Just got done listening to this beast. Fucking grand.

It's a shame though, I had to pee throughout the whole thing.
can someone recommend me some (early romantic?) composers like mozart, i'm looking specifically for music like the first minute of this: I know very little about classical music but this makes me feel incredible.
