So. Remember that giant Coca Cola screen from Blade Runner? Everyone does this, it's overdoing it thats the problem
Jurassic World was blatantly obvious about pushing it with Mercedes. There's one scene centered entirely around the hood ornament at one point, and they even did the same thing again a few scenes later. Now thats kind off putting.
Mercedes makes sense for hunting dinosaurs. It's got crosshairs!

Just saw episode two and it was SO MUCH BETTER, glad to see the X-Files back with some Monster of the Week!

Not the first time JP and Mercedes got it on, my VHS copy of TLW has long Mercedes ad before the movie, they vehicles are also almost all Mercedes.
I'm not sure how I feel about the mytharc right now, I really like getting more of it, but with such a short season they don't get to go big with it. If it was 3 myth and 3 monsters, we're 2/3 of mytharc episodes, so however they wrap up things is gonna be very quick and sloppy probably.
FOX VP of programming has said if the producers and stars agree, there will be more seasons.
The season premier was equal to the best ratings of TWD, and the second episode + Lucifer was FOX's strongest Monday night all year.
Chris Carter already said he won't be doing more episodes.
Kind of hard to clarify that considering he said it [sp]ends on a cliffhanger and he and the Morgans have ideas for three more arcs.[/sp]
I'd even accept a successor series without Mulder and Scully. Although I love them, their dynamic is pretty played out - even with all these years without any material, these last two episodes seem to show more of the same.
I really liked Doggett and Reyes - although maybe not as charismatic or immediately interesting, they were different and provided new angles with which to approach the conspiracy material.
Also just to give another voice saying that I'm a bit disappointed in the confused use of the lore and canon in the revival. Especially with regards to the massive events which seem to be glossed over by that first episode.
[sp] also the Roswell stuff from the first episode confused the fuck out of me - didn't we already have canonical explanations for this event? [/sp]

I don't think they touched on Roswell in any direct sense. Deep Throat mentioned that it was because of Roswell that the international intelligence community formed a pact that any nation who captured an alien alive was responsible for its execution, and Max Fenig brought up how the coverup operation in Fallen Angel mirrored what was done with the Roswell crash
I am really bummed out about how they're clearly focusing more and more on the government conspiracy aspect of it instead of tying anything to the aliens themselves; while they're still hinting at alien involvement and not going as far as they did in the Season 4 finale as to call into question the existence of aliens entirely, I still feel like they're going pretty hard with retconning the whole conspiracy to be more human-centric than simple preparation for the colonization
(Though, I guess we really didn't have much of an idea what the supersoldiers were up to after they replaced the syndicate)

Here's a funny clip from next week's episode, featuring the guy dressed like Kolchak.
It's kinda funny, but it's incredibly out of place for X-Files. It had its occasional funny line or a goofy episode, but that almost feels Monty Python in humor.

I think it's the lack of music, comedic scenes like this were plenty common but they always had something playing. To me it feels kind of off because it's dead silent.

This is going to be a good episode.
That episode was really good. And oh my god that Scully scene.
Did they just forget about the previous two episodes?
idk continuity felt weird.
The episode was good, but going from where we were in the first two episodes to now just felt like a big chunk of story was missing.
That was so good! Sad knowing that there is only go to be 3 more episodes left.
Holy shit this fucking episode
I went in expecting it to be great, and it was even better than I thought it would be.
Mulder's :xfiles: midlife crisis.
God so good, if the next episode is a "I miss millennium", episode holy shit I want this back next year.
Me and my friend really didn't like the first episode all that much. Sure they don't have many episodes to work with, but it set way too much up and it felt rushed.
[sp]Why do we have to see aliens and UFOs all the time? It's not what makes X-Files exciting. And who's running the reel with videos of drones etc. while the conservative conspiracy guy is talking? It was like "Okay, this monologue isn't very interesting, the viewer needs something to watch". Scully totally jumped between a few different scullies in this episode, and overall it really didn't feel very coherent.[/sp]
Hopefully the next few episodes will be better.
This episode was fucking weird. But I guess I liked it? I'm still not sure.
Last night's episode was hilariously stupid and campy in every good way possible.

iirc the order of the episodes got fucked up for mystical corporate reasons, I dunno if this one in particular was affected though
During Mulder's rant to Scully in the motel room about [sp]whether or not such shapeshifting were-creatures can be real, I seriously kept expecting Scully to speak up and be all like "Mulder... you and Agent Doggett ran into a man who could shapeshift into a lizard 15 years ago." That, or they could bring up the events of Shapes in S01, or Alpha in S06[/sp]
Pretty good episode though, really felt X-Filesy. I'm amazed they actually brought up [sp]Queequeg.[/sp]
I haven't finished season 9. Should I start season 10? I don't want to spoiler the whole show's ending, but at the same time I feel like I'll never finish season 9. Kind of how I am with Lonesome Roads for New Vegas. Anyway, what do you guys think?

season 9 will confused you about season 10 on the [del]series[/del] season finale. Which might be a thing.

Just finish season 9. Honestly there's pretty much only thing so far that happened in Season 9 that's still relevant, but maybe that'll change once we get back to mytharc episodes. It's better to get through it now than wait and possibly never do it.
I finally got to watch last week's episode last night, and I loved the idea of [sp]another species being unwillingly transformed into a human and losing control of their instincts to become something we consider normal[/sp] was funny as hell, IMO.
I love how Moulders ringtone was [sp]the x files theme.[/sp] :v:
Amazing episode, I hope this weeks is just as good. I'm really surprised at how good and true to the original this event is so far.
