I'm pretty sure it's gonna get another season, this was definitely a soft run to test the waters, and I think it did pretty well.
Considering it's FOX's best showing since the Gotham premier, I'd say it's a safe bet they'll be back.
So in the end the anti-vaxxers were right :xfiles:
Started watching the show a few days ago on Netflix, about halfway through season 1. Since a lot of people don't like the later seasons, are there some that I'd be fine skipping, or do I just watch everything?
just watch everything. the last few seasons get a lot of hate but i dont think they deserve it. the show never really gets Scrubs-Season-9 tier bad.

I didn't like the episodes where it's just Doggett and Reyes, because I think Reyes is just a bad character.
So basically the only plot progression made in this entire miniseries after 15 years is [sp]CSM is alive and Reyes works/worked for him?[/sp]
HOLY SHIT GODDAMNIT FUCK YOU CHRIS CARTER!!!
"I'll give you everything I know you've always wanted: incomprehensible conspiracies, Mulder and Scully spending the whole episode apart, crucial and important dialogue with zero factual basis, and Monica Reyes!"
Why I am positive that those two new young agents are going to carry this on, I really don't like them.
Why I am positive that those two new young agents are going to carry this on, I really don't like them.
Carter has already said that's not going to happen and that's not why they were created.
Just watched the last episode on a webstream that ending... I thought the video hadn't buffered further, literally 'is that it?!' fucking jesus, cmonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn all that build up to just end it like that... of course they would
I don't recall having something in xfiles on a global level not happen in real life?
I don't recall having something in xfiles on a global level not happen in real life?
Well, there was that gigantic spaceship that came up out of the ice cap in 1998.
In S02E17, End Game, remember when the alien bounty hunter tries to kill Mulder with a fucking submarine and it's all dramatic but the sub is just submerging slowly and as the sub is about to slowly hit Mulder he just lazily rolls out from under it like "nyegh".
Well the new season has begun. I'm seeing a LOT of really angry people on twitter lol so I get the feeling I'm not going to enjoy this opener. At least Christ isn't doing all the episodes but god damn can he just wrap this fukin series up right already??
I don't know what to think about the episode. Lots of weird decisions all around.
I am disappointed they [sp]double-backed on the extinction happening, talk about a huge tease.[/sp]

Alright, that has to be the most non X-Files-like episode so far. I know Chris Carter episodes can get a little wacky at times, but when did he start sniffing glue? [sp]Everything about it was so fucking over the top. It was like watching a fast paced action thriller. Completely lacked any of that typical X-Files atmosphere, instead we got a dumb drawn-out car chase scene that has to be one of the most pathetic attempts at product placement I've ever seen. Then there's constant POUNDING ACTION MUSIC and the camerawork was littered with these constant zooms to EMPHASIZE THE DRAMA. That's before we even get to the story. It felt like they were trying to cram half a season worth of material into a single episode. I thought the last season's finale was pretty ridiculous, but I'm not sure what's worse, the fact that it got written, or the "it was all a dream"-level retcon that came afterwards. Then you get gems like Mulder slicing that guy's throat open with a scalpel like it's nothing. I bet he does that shit every day. I was trying to hold back laughter during scenes where Reyes is working with cancer man. Honestly the reveal that Mulder isn't William's father is probably the least surprising thing that happened the entire episode. Carter plz, just let the mythology die already and give up writing, you're just making a mess. It's like letting a toddler loose with a box of crayons in a freshly painted room.[/sp]
Darin Morgan’s still the man
Episode 4 was an absolute riot. I thought 3 was great too, but man... 4 was amazing.
I need a youtube clip of the wall rant
What a great episode, probably (one of) the best since season 7. The acting still seems a bit rusty at times compared to the old series, but other than that it was a completely fresh idea and they pulled it off brilliantly. I had a smile on my face all the way through.
I'm liking it so far, for me it feels a lot better than season 10, I don't know about all the global pandemic shit that ended S10 and a bit of Ep 1, seemed a bit weird all overlapping Gmen/CSM sorta people.
Tried watching this season's opener and ragequit at 9 minutes - gotta be a record. From Mulder acting like a complete fucking lunatic, to painful pacing, laughable lines and disorienting editing - what the fuck is going on? At one point Scullt literally says "I'm not a part of any experiment" after that whole thing where [sp]she was cured from space cancer by a metal implant until it turned out it was actually "The Man" and not Aliens[/sp] boy is this a fucking shit show. And real world references are embarrassingly bad. "fake news", really? Also, couldn't they get a more "old school" crew to work on the episodes? Shit looks and sounds like a generic CSI show I really hope there are episodes where they told Carter to fuck himself and got some actual fucking talent, like that werehuman episode last season, that shit was brilliant
Watching episode 3 (Plus One, the doppelganger one). There's a scene where Mulder and Scully are talking to a motel manager to ask for a room. At one point they're offered a suite and Mulder says "we'll take it", after which Scully looks at Mulder, seemingly bemused. I'm pretty sure Scully was surprised Fox said "we", as in they're a couple; which would mean she thinks they're not a couple; which makes no sense because they kind of are, right? They were together at the end of the series, they were together in the 2 films (latest one being pretty recent, 2008); they were also shown together in Season. 10, right? So why the suprised look then? I personally hated the fact they made them a couple the the show; I thought the whole dynamic was cool because they weren't romantically involved, they were just a really good team, and also they became pretty close as they went through stuff. The whole kissing scene in the movie was fucking horrible too, completely lacking in taste or even basic chemistry. Yet, I don't really see much hatred for this story thread, is it uncommon? [editline]28th January 2018[/editline] Boy was Lost Art of Forehead Sweat good. I mentioned just before that I hoped for a non-Carter episode, and referenced the werehuman episode from last season; the sad thing is, I remember being afraid that the show would get too self-referential and making fun of itself - this does seem to be a trend. I'm not sure if I understood that scene with two agents calling Mulder "deep state". They were "erasers" but managed to make Mulder and Scully think they were FBI agents, then Fox and Dana just forgot about that? I understand that it's a jokey scene, I'm just surprised that the episode lost it's mostly serious approach to character motivations (bkth main characters acted like their "serious" selfs for half the episode) Have to say, I'm not sure I "got" the episode, I interpreted the ending as being about the show itself, it wasn't all that good overall, but I would like to remember the best it had to offer, you know? But other than that, the episode has nothing to do with this theme, so I'm probably just projecting
Another quite good episode. The season started off terribly, but then delivered 4 good-great episodes! I'm pretty pleased now.
I quite liked the 2008 movie, and they should have done one in 2012 for the end of the world stuff. I enjoyed some of the season 10 episodes but don't think it should have been brought back.
