It started with Kenny Dies, then they spend the whole season looking for a fourth friend. Kenny was possessing Cartman's body occasionally. He came back at the end of Red Sleigh Down which was the last episode of the season.
Im pretty sure there was a n episode in which Kenny was shown being born again in the hospital. Kind of confusing since I thought that's how he came back.
It's a joke and a cartoon. It doesn't really need to make sense.

Before you say there are no limits, see the China(the one around the olympics) episode and the episode when having cats are illegal, or hurting cats in general(other people doing that).

Knowing Cartman it will probably be the other way around.
Maybe it's because I've missed a couple of seasons so it's more apparent, but haven't the latest episodes started to take a more 'serious' turn? I'm thinking about Kenny, or am I missing a very obvious reference?
The last two episodes have been more serious. Last season from what I can remember wasn't really serious at all, and 200 and 201 where more on the serious side, but also very funny.
