It's south park, not lost, I doubt they need more than that to end the story, but they could very well do a season-cliffhanger. Even then the cliffhangers are in such an absurdist world that it shouldn't really bother you that much.
I don't know, I like the episodic structure, but it get's boring after a while. I think last season was a good example of how to do it, have some episodes directly connected then have it in the background.

the problem was last season their finale was a dud, you had that whole MJ, tupac, randy thing and that ended literally off camera because they couldn't fit it in. ya last season was pretty good where they had episodes that weren't part of the theme and just their normal reaction type episodes, but i can't lie, if they were doing those this year, we'd have had nothing but kanye babies, donald trump episodes, and other weird shit, the stuff in the news in the last 6 months has been more like south park news than real news

I love how just about everything in this show is a social commentary now. [sp] The ending speech of this last episode could basically be listened to as a speech about migrants and the ones that want to hurt us, and how dealing with this in a pc way will be fucking hard. Not to mention how guns solve all the problems. [/sp]
