I saw it today. Ending was very sequel bait
James Cameron did awesome worldbuilding in Aliens, and Ridley Scott seems to be a bit annoyed with that, going by the way Prometheus and Covenant seem to be going.
Cameron did zero worldbuilding aside from openly as admitted by his then wife stealing from Starship Troopers and giving Ripley the American Nuclear Space Family™, none of which really fits the Alien mythos, and we've been dealing with Aliens as Stupid Space Dobermans ever since. Secondly, Scott rather likes Aliens and considering they did a draft of V together, I'd hazard your premise is 0 for 2.
I saw it today. Ending was very sequel bait
That was to be expected, he announced 4 new movies. How was it?
i like the pacing of it, didnt feel bored at all. favourite scene was the opening exchange with guy pearce and michael fassbender. the latter of which i feel is the focus of the movie, not the engineers or the xenomorphs. i doubt people who dislike prometheus would feel this one is any better
Legit question: How the fuck does the plot of Alien Resurrection work at all? How does CLONING someone bring back the alien too?
It doesn't, aka Joss Whedon on any project that requires more than snarky quips and pop culture references.
James Cameron did awesome worldbuilding in Aliens, and Ridley Scott seems to be a bit annoyed with that, going by the way Prometheus and Covenant seem to be going.
Cameron couldn't build a world if you gave him clay and the powers of a deity. He did nothing more than play with set pieces inside of the world that Ridley created. Cameron shat on the intelligence of the xenomorphs and turned it into a gunsblazing shoot em up rather than the tense game of cat and mouse that Alien was.
Mondo will be releasing a vinyl soundtrack for Alien but the artwork on the cover is the Aliens version of the xenomorph. https://mondotees.com/products/alien-original-motion-picture-soundtrack-2xlp Don't worry I already sent them a nerdy message about it.
Yo they fixed it. I'd like to think it was me but considering I didn't get an email back they probably had a bunch of people pointing it out. sort of
Just watched the movie, and after watching so many trailers and clips, it seems a lot of scenes got cut or changed. I liked it though, it wasn't amazing but I enjoyed it as much as Prometheus.
The Alien Covenant sequel is already slated to start shooting in 14 months lol http://www.comingsoon.net/movies/news/846369-ridley-scott-says-alien-covenant-sequel-to-begin-shooting-in-14-months#/slide/1 That didn't take long [editline]fart[/editline] https://uk.movies.yahoo.com/alien-covenant-ridley-scott-admits-got-prometheus-wrong-teases-two-alien-sequels-exclusive-144721534.html Now it's two more alien sequels Ridley wants to make instead of four. Or maybe even just one. God the number never stops changing lol
One or none, Ridley. [editline]11th May 2017[/editline] You gotta find time to make that fucking Gladiator sequel
I just read the complete synopsis. What the fuck
I enjoyed it as much as Prometheus.
oh no
I'm not gonna lie I kinda enjoyed watching Prometheus but I can see how flawed it was. The idea was way better than the execution.
oh no
There are many good parts in Prometheus like the production value, practical effects, cinematography and soundtrack. It's just some of the other parts that really dragged it down like the bad script.
Prometheus was good, it just wasn't very Alien. If it wasn't Alien, people would probably have been more receptive to it.
No, if it wasn't Alien, people would've just completely forgotten about it by now. I don't know about anyone else, but I didn't expect or really want it to have much to do with the Alien movies. Instead of learning about the ancient biomechanical mystery aliens that seemed to be grown into their technology from the first movie, it turns out they're just big white guys and the story is stupid Chariots of the Gods nonsense. I may still be spicy about that one.
Prometheus was good, it just wasn't very Alien. If it wasn't Alien, people would probably have been more receptive to it.
Boi don't try and tell me why I fucking hate that movie Because I know and that's not the reason
Prometheus is a mess that is trying way too hard to be both a prequel to Alien and a completely unrelated film at the same time. The direction they took with it was so unfathomably fucking stupid it's kinda amazing. Massive chunks of the plot were taken out or reworked into making no sense because someone went "TOO MUCH LIKE ALIEN", including a character who, instead of turning into an almost prototype Alien, just turns into a zombie for no reason??? But then somehow we're supposed to be exploring the origins of the Aliens... before they exist... but there are murals of them?
Blame this man [editline]11th May 2017[/editline]
Prometheus is a mess that is trying way too hard to be both a prequel to Alien and a completely unrelated film at the same time. I dunno, the worst thing about it is they're explaining the origins of a species that was better left unknown.
Blame this man
You should be blaming Ridley Scott, not him.
Maybe, but the bad shit in prometheus are the kinds of dumb shit lindelof would do and not particularly the same kind of dumb shit ridley scott's dumb shit is
Boi don't try and tell me why I fucking hate that movie Because I know and that's not the reason
Didn't say it was good, I'm just saying it would have been a better off not being Alien.
I've come to the conclusion that Ridley Scott isn't one of those auteurs who controls all aspects of the filmmaking process to craft super-best-ultra-art-good movie. He's just a guy who is good at directing. He's also a guy who is terrible at knowing whether the other people he's working with are good at their jobs (especially the screenwriter.) You surround Ridley Scott with quality people who know what they're doing, you get Alien or Blade Runner. Otherwise...
Gonna watch this at an outdoors sneak preview later today, I'm hype.
just got back from covenant on the big screen. I liked it overall, not one my favourite films but it was solid aside from [sp]a few idiotic crew decisions like locking a colleague in with the first chestburster and looking at the facehugger sacs, like come are you for real?? You've already seen what they do.[/sp] I did enjoy [sp]David's arc, that was very well executed aside from avoiding the end of the synthetic fight which sort of gave away that the guy who came back wasn't Walter. The scene where he quotes ozymandias while the flashback shows his true colours was fantastic and I enjoyed his attempts to convince Walter that he has achieved the ability to create.[/sp]

You've already seen what they do.[/sp]
[sp]She locked her thinking she was infected too, since the guy vomited on her. He hasn't seen what they do though? It was the first time showing an egg and a facehugger, he was still trusting David, I guess he didn't think he could lie.[/sp]
Got exposed to a huge spoiler but I think it will make the experience of the movie overall better for me. It's the [sp] shift from the fear of the Xenomorph (who are not scary anymore) to David and what it means to the movie as a whole.[/sp]
