Except the shits they showed needed the cgi
And you're telling me they couldn't have put in a single shot with a practical effect?
fuck off m8 it's 2014
every film pretty much uses cgi now, deal with it
they used CGI almost exclusively in The Thing 2011, the prequel to a film that had been praised for decades for its use of practical effects, and audiences and critics were rightfully pissed
now they're going overboard with the CGI for the reboot of Jurassic Park... a film that has been praised for decades for its use of practical effects. but that's no biggie every film pretty much uses cgi now, deal with it
I mean sure, Jurassic Park used CGI as well, but the practical effects in it were flippin top. if they'd CG'd every dinosaur in that film it might've still been good but it would've lost a lot of what made it a great film in the end
And don't tell me 'practical effects aren't ready that's why they didn't put it in' because they clearly put some non-final CGI on that trailer.
The gate is a practical effect
I'm talking about the dinosaurs. I'm clearly talking about the dinosaurs.
Seriously, do you really think that the gate is the one thing people want to be practical in the movie?

In the original Jurassic Park, paractical effects were used for closer dinosaur shots. So far in the trailer there were no close shots of dinos

most of its praise was for the cgi though?
In the original Jurassic Park, paractical effects were used for closer dinosaur shots. So far in the trailer there were no close shots of dinos
this so much
you only had animatronics when the dinosaurs were close enough
and people in raptor suits
nothing that we saw would be possible with those two, but that doesn't rule them out just yet.
also as far as practical effects, a lot of this movie is shot on-location and on sound stages with little or no blue screens, like the original.

There were no practical shots because they decided to not put any practical shots. I'm not saying there are no practical effects in the movie, I'm criticizing their choice to not display the fact they are following in the footsteps of the original by cleverly mixing CGI and practical effects- something that it seems like they're at least trying to do from what Trevorrow has been showing on Twitter.
Instead, what we get are big CGI shots just like any other big trailer for big movies for the past five years or so. It's just so same-y.
breh, it's a teaser trailer, cool your tits, we'll see animatronics eventually.
The gate in the trailer was definitely not practical. That said,

The last scene in the trailer reminded me of Shia Labeouf and the swinging monkeys in Kingdom of the Crystal Skull

Apparently it's not entirely what it looks like.
People cry over the raptor stuff. They cry about everything.
IMDB got flooded by people who say that they showed too much, others said that they showed too little.
Some are disappointed that we didn't see the new dinosaur. Others cried that they showed too much of him.
lmao

Less aggressive genetically engineered raptors?
Or the classic ones?
I cannot contain this hype.
stop calling it a reboot btw, it's a sequel

the d-rex? we didn't see any of it.

That's the joke. They moan about it being only hinted at. But on the other side they cry that they showed too much of it. I know, it sounds stupid.

IMDb is filled with fucking idiots anyways.

Well, (supposedly) only one character from the original series is returning, so I can see why everyone is calling it that.
I would like to see Jeff Goldblum at least cameo in the movie. The world needs more Ian Malcom. Of course, it would be great to see Sam Neill return as well.
Yeah, the "D-Rex" can be seen in those new Lego sets for anyone who's really that curious on how it looks.
you can see its claws in the trailer as it chases after chris pratt and that shit looks scary
the d-rex? we didn't see any of it.
I think we seen it's hands. And in the like 10 second teaser that was posted earlier in the thread, I think we seen it grab something.

I hope Dr. Wu plays a larger role beyond just a cameo. Ian Malcolm I can see being shown on a talk show warning the head doctor lady about meddling with nature.
Really, I just can't see a logical reason why Dr. Grant or Dr. Malcolm would return. Both have be been through it twice so I'd think they'd be afraid to go back.
The gate is a practical effect
and it still looks fake as fuck, specially the fire, so they didn't make a good job.

Pull a Wolverine-in-First-Class-style cameo

That's because the shot in the trailer was cg.

The official Jurassic World website has been updated with a bunch of new stuff.

More things on the website will be unlocked as the movie gets closer to being released.

Made a fun little logo using the stuff they have on the website
Holy shit. Everythings interactive now. So much information about all the stuff. Even John Hammond appears!
Absolutely amazing!
The description for the Creation Lab names Mr. DNA. Seems like he is back.

Holy shit, guys. I think they've got tiny T-rexes by now. One of the texts says: "Family fun on the boardwalk: Roar! That's not the sound of a dinosaur, it's your tiny T-rexes stomping down our world famous bordwalk"
"That's not the sound of a dinosaur"
I think it's just cheesy advertisement speak for 'your kids are enjoying themselves'
