Broke $500 million in its opening weekend, first movie ever to do so.
Honestly Chris Pratt brought nothing to this film. He didn't put any of the charm or charisma he normally has into the performance. Then again that might just be the awful script/direction.

Probably the script. It's been rewritten dozens of times.
The movie starts with parents sending their kids to the park, why? The movie offers vague hints, but there's no follow up. [sp]the divorce part is what I mean[/sp]
[sp]So the scene where the older brother talks about their parents being divorced is not enough of a follow-up?[/sp]
This movie was terrible. It was worse than Alien: resurrection.
I don't understand how people can disagree with this. No one can argues that the script is any goo. But neither is the action and special effects. The CGI was teterrible, was present in every scene and looked completely out of place. The action scenes with the starship troopers was filmed like shit. Star Lord was a disappointment who can't act during serious scenes.
[sp]So the scene where the older brother talks about their parents being divorced is not enough of a follow-up?[/sp]
And then its never heard of again and the parents show up at the end anyway.

Because we think it's nowhere near as bad as you think it is. That's how we can disagree with it.

"I don't understand how people can disagree with an unpopular opinion!"
I was hesitant to see this movie and couldn't get my head around why people would keep making more dinosaurs after the catastrophic failures you see in the original 3 movies, however my friends dragged me along anyway. I'm quite glad because it ended up surpassing my expectations by a mile.
However this really needs to be the last movie in the series to give it closure. If there is a sequel I would be quite disappointed.
Really liked it, the effects were incredible.
But there is a lot of sequel potential. [sp]InGen got the DNA etc. and took it out, and also got the lead scientist, so I'd imagine they plan to make use of that at some point in the future.[/sp]
And then its never heard of again and the parents show up at the end anyway.
They were quite busy with the whole "dinosaur" thing, kinda hard to think of divorcing parents when there's a velociraptor wanting to eat you.
Also, well, yeah, I imagine even if you were divorcing your husband/wife you'd still want to see if your children survived the deadly dinosaur attack.

Pretty sure I seen someone say Jurassic World is the start of a new trilogy.
What I would like however, is if there is a sequel, that it's not placed in another theme park. The new title allows for a bit more flexibility and I hope they realize this.
Something needs to be said, however, about the CGI.
There were moments where I genuinely did not know if it was CGI or practical. Namely [sp]the part where the I-Rex first gets out of his cage and is sniffing the car Owen is hiding under, the caged raptors, the killed dinos.[/sp]
It seems to me like they did use animatronics at some point but gave all of them CGI makeup.
Even without that, the CGI, for me, was completely believable. I don't know how, but at no moment did I feel like 'yeah that's a digital puppet of the actors'. The [sp]pterodactyl attack scene hit that right in the head, if I had felt like those were just CGI actors, all the tension would have gone out, but nope. Held me all the way in.[/sp]
I agree. I know a lot of people like the nostalgia of the animatronics, but I honestly think some praise needs to go to the quality of the CGI in this film. It was very well done. I found myself admiring it during some of the raptor scenes.
I like to imagine that in this reality Weird Al's song about Jurassic Park was still made. It seems like people are over the events of the first movie if attendance is soaring.
Chris Pratt and Ty Simpkins already signed up for Jurassic World 2.
I'm pretty sure that [sp]Dr. Wu is going to be the next main antagonist in part 2 and possibly part 3. Jurassic World already showed him being rather... dark. And it will most likely be about hybrid dinosaurs as that's what he's been experimenting on. [/sp]
The reason why the theme park got built is simple: Money. You can also look up reasons on Masranis website.
Other zoos and similar themeparks are still being built, despite people getting killed every now and then.
I'd like to hope that this franchise is in good hands, with people that know what they're doing. At the same time, I feel like a sequel is going to go in the direction of "Jason Bourne except with dinosaurs" and Im not sure how I'd feel about that.
"I don't understand how people can disagree with an unpopular opinion!"
I guess that just as for Prometheus people will need some time (and maybe a redlettermedia video) to understand how their opinion was wrong.

Do you have ANY IDEA how much of a pompous ass you show yourself as?

You're missing the point, it's something the writer/s thought was important enough to bring up in the movie, there's even an entire scene about it, then it's dropped and never has any impact on anything or is even mentioned again. That's poorly thought out writing.

much of the dialogue was pretty shit writing, too. basically anything that didn't involve dino science stuff.
Comparing this to Jurassic Park and it's funny - Jurassic Park's CGI hasn't even slightly held up; it's obviously not real. Jurassic World's CGI is amazing.

You can tell this isn't real. The skin textures and lighting, especially at the base of the tail, don't look real.

Aha. You know every other person in the world talks about how nice the CGI has held up? Imagine seeing this movie in 1993, and then coming back in 2015, and some of the moments, especially the T-rex in the dark, look just as good as some now.

No shit, but considering that was made on the equivalent of a PS1 (roughly, maybe a PS2 equivalent) it looks amazing.
Took me a while to post the art. I've updated my post with some neat concepts for Jurassic World. Enjoy!
Also, btw, Trevorrow talks a bit about the sequels.
It’s somewhat a plot based setup for the future. And that matters to a certain extent. But if we hadn’t done that, you could easily manufacture that. You know, in a second film. So I find it actually the least functional setup for the future of everything that we do. There are themes and ideas in here that we’re setting up, such as the coexistence of these animals on the planet with humans. In the same way that we exist with animals now. And imagine a world where just like, you know, don’t go into that jungle, there’s tigers in there. They’re gonna eat you. Just replace that with raptors. And I think we set up ideas in here. One of them, the one we address the most is the weaponization of dinosaurs and the fact that animals have been used in war for centuries. And there are people with completely bonkers ideas that are always gonna step in and wonder how else we can utilize a new technology. And also in this there was a line in the movie that I cut. And sometimes I wonder if I should have, but I needed the scene to move in a certain way. But there was a line where Doctor Wu says to Irrfan Khan or B.D. Wong says to Irrfan Khan, you know, how long do you think you’re gonna be able to control her? We won’t always be the only ones who can make a dinosaur. And that idea to me has a lot of potential in it that like nuclear power there could be a something that goes open source and there could be many entities who might have this ability to create these things and use them for various needs and purposes. So there’s potential in there. For something.
Just went to see the movie. [sp]The fight near the end got a bit silly. And the assistant death was uncomfortably brutal.[/sp] The film was solid but maybe a bit pessimistic. Jurassic Park initially sold you this wonder and majesty of dinosaurs, while Jurassic World was more of a heavily commercialized themepark. Though I guess part of the message of the whole thing is that that lead to its downfall.
All in all I enjoyed it.

Well duh, but after years of drowning in CGI movies. Back then that was amazing, we didn't have any reference whatsoever.

To be fair, still shots of motion CGI in a movie aren't really a good basis to grade quality on. Plus, that picture is way lighter than the actual movie was, making it way easier to see defects.
I was very disappointed with the near complete lack of puppeteering. [sp]Not even the fucking raptors sitting completely still inside of those face-cages were puppets.[/sp]
I knew it was going to be a terrible movie, but I still had fun watching it.
I really liked it but the complete lack of blood was soo unsatisfying :(

I would like to see a VFX reel for this movie once the bluray comes out, that would be neat.
