i got some details here for chapter 2 and it sounds like mike will be playing a much bigger part in chapter 2 then he did in the first film.

I'll be back in a while with my full review of chapter 1 but all i have to say is i thought it was fucking awesome despite some of it's fault's.
I cried a bit at [sp]Georgie's death[/sp] honestly. [sp]I work with young kids and it hit me kinda hard.[/sp]
I'm not sure if I'm late but I just notice something when lurking on IMDB:
Take a look at that art wall on the left [sp]when a black kid was going to the meat store[/sp].

Now take a look on that second image [sp]when the kids are trying to treat that fat kid's scar[/sp].

[sp]I think they're being watched.[/sp]
That's an incredible detail

Speaking of odd details, I was explaining the movie to my mother the other day when something dawned on me when talking about the projector.
[sp]When describing the image changes I had a bit of pause when I tried to describe the family portrait. The mom's face is covered from the hair and the wind. When thinking about this it dawned on me that the mother is never shown. She's not dead, because they specifically mention her when the dad gets angry in the garage. They deliberately cover her up in the family photo.
When the family photo's hair comes undone it's Pennywise, who climbs through the screen afterwards.
After coming to this realization I've been tryna figure it out and been mostly thinking about how in the book the adult population is under Pennywise's influence. The parents are strange, the librarian and such are creepy and invasive in their speech, the people pass by when Tits calls for help.
Eddie's mom tries to keep him from going after It. Bev's dad is abusive and used to hold her down.
There's also several instances where the boat is brought up as needing to be called "She" instead of "It". In the book and miniseries It is theorized as female due to its pregnant spider form and where it came from.
It's been driving me crazy. Did the mom show up and I just missed it? Or were they actually keeping her appearance under wraps for an unknown reason?
Is it possible that Billy and Georgie's mother was a part of It in some way? Does It not only feed on children, but have a hand in their conception/upbringing of sorts, ensuring there'll be kids ripe to feast on?
Surely It couldn't actually be the mom, since it rests for 27 years, but then how did it have a direct hand in killing Mike's parents like the book says? (In the book a stand-in group of the KKK burns the "Black Spot" down, and Pennywise causes the escalation that makes this happen, and is also seen on premises- this was originally intended to actually be shown but wasn't filmed due to budget and time, likewise a scene featuring Pennywise in the 17th century.)
Also in the book is that supreme acts of violence such as a man having killed his child summons It, causing It to wake up early, similarly to how Bev killing her dad causes him to suddenly appear in the film.
Is there a reason for this mysterious and seemingly deliberate hiding of who she is?[/sp]
I need to see it again to see if any of these thoughts hold up on a repeat viewing with them specifically in mind.

[sp]Bill's mom shows up in the beginning playing the piano while georgie was going to get the golf wax for his boat.[/sp]

Her face is at least shown right? Thanks for putting that to rest before it got too "Pepe Silvia". If [sp]her face isn't shown however, that makes me yet more suspicious, especially considering Pennywise is definitely present at this point, given the light eyes in the basement that spook Georgie.[/sp]
Also on the topic of details, I was reading on reddit that a play program for "The Frog Prince" is in Beverley's room, [sp]foreshadowing Ben's reviving kiss after her encounter with the deadlights[/sp]

[sp]For a couple seconds yes, it happens when georgie is coming down the steps and is walking by they focus on her playing the piano for a moment before continuing to follow georgie through his home towards the basement.[/sp]
That is a very interesting detail, i'm defiantly gonna have to re-watch this very carefully when it comes out on blu-ray. Andy sure packed the film full of small details.
It was better than the TV movies by a lot, but it's obvious that they went overboard with the "scary" moments and a little overboard with the humor in parts. Otherwise, I'm glad this movie is seeing success, and I'm excited for part 2.
One thing that I can really appreciate is that its got a strange air to it that makes it almost like a kid's horror movie. I feel like it's appropriate enough that someone the age of the kids in the film could be allowed to watch this, and that maybe they could get more out of it's message. The only scene I can think of that's a little bit much is [sp]Georgie's crawl[/sp], but other than that I think my little brother aughta be allowed to see this.
I also like how the theme of "kids see It differently from adults" also lends to the literal interpretation of the movie. I think this would be much scarier for someone closer to the character's age group than it was for myself, including a younger self. Despite it being scarier for one I also think it's worth seeing all the way through, since it spells out that [sp]being afraid is how it wins, facing your fear and overcoming it and growing because of it is a big theme.[/sp]
I'm glad they skipped the weird trashy and sexual stuff from the source material.
Some of this took me back to seeing Monster House as a kid, although this was much more realistic.
Welp, that's a new movie I'm buying on Blu ray day 1
They've announced a director's cut. I'll be getting that.

Hm. I already felt like it was kind of perfect and expected the deleted scenes to be incorporated into the sequel like they were talking about doing.
Not sure how to feel about that news.
[editline]15th September 2017[/editline]
I wonder what was cut that was finished? Most of the scenes I've heard about sounded like they didn't even bother filming or processing

Probably [sp]Bill and Richi rounding up Mike and the others to rescue Bev. That felt incomplete to me.[/sp]
i really liked this movie
never saw the tv special or read the book or anything.
liked the special effects alot mainly. Pennywise is also p cool.
Just watched it, it was really fun. Not really scary, but funny.
[sp]I laughed pretty loud when he started dancing and the camera motion tracks on his face. Didn't expect that shot.[/sp]

i'm still trying to figure out if that was supposed to be funny or not because it was hilarious
that was my favorite shot in the entire movie to be honest
The deadpan expression and tracking was unintentionally?? hilarious. It felt like shades of Curry's performance where you ask yourself if you should be laughing or not.
there's like a 15+ part youtube video series where some guy won't stop putting songs over the cam of that scene

I mean, he is a dancing clown.
god this movie was so good, even with my expectations high I still really enjoyed it, and these background details people keep noticing are so great. super glad to see it doing so well at the box office.

well for starters [sp]we'll probably see more about the fat kids nightmare apparition since we see the clown use it on him at the end (a bandage monster) but we never got to see it beforehand previously. same deal for the kid with the glasses who is apparently just scared of clowns period and yet I don't think pennywise ever even messed with him?? it's hard to keep track but if I'm right then lol way to miss an easy target)[/sp]

yeah I loved that shot lmao. I love how much the monster just really seems to enjoy playing up it's character, just makes it so much creepier.
also I wonder what filming that was like. [sp]how many different dances did they try out?? how long did it take to get right?? did they just spend an entire afternoon with him dancing and glaring at the camera while everyone's trying not to laugh?? if there's some behind-the-scenes stuff I hope that scene gets lots of focus lmao[/sp]

[sp]Richie seemed to be afraid of dying too, since It made up a missing child poster for him specifically when they visited the house, then put together a coffin with a doll of Richie in the room with clowns and dolls. I can't specifically remember Ben's fear though, other than the disturbing bit with the headless body he saw after seeing a head in the photos dropping eggs it was collecting and then chasing him through the library basement, and then the bandage thing at the end like you mentioned.[/sp]

oh right I forgot about that. it's hard to keep track of who got scared how lol. Ok then yea I guess it's just Ben that'll (hopefully) have some extra scenes because that [sp]bandage monster[/sp] really did just come out of nowhere
I want to see the movie again, I fucking loved it. The little details especially made it a fun movie to watch, like one thing specifically with Pennywise's [sp]eyes always being a little fucked up. It was like they were acting independently from each other, or he couldn't completely mimic a normal human being or something?? From the very first scene with Georgie and the sewer I kept noticing one eye being "off".[/sp]

[sp] I thought it was a mummy? Wasn't there a mummy in the original book? Or maybe a callback to the Wolfman bit? [/sp]
I saw this last week and quite enjoyed it. I didn't really think of it as a horror movie, the only part that I found even remotely creepy was [sp]Georgie getting his arm eaten at the beginning (I haven't read or seen the original so this took me by surprise).[/sp]
But it was a great story and I hope the sequel is at least as good.
[sp] I thought it was a mummy? Wasn't there a mummy in the original book? Or maybe a callback to the Wolfman bit? [/sp]
[sp]yea I wasn't sure if it was meant to be a full on mummy or just some callback to how many times he had to get patched up after being bullied, but I guess a mummy is a bandage monster so yea lol probably just meant to be that. no clue about the original books tho[/sp]

[sp]In the book, Ben's scare is a mummy with balloons instead of the headless boy in the library.[/sp]
I dunno. After the Babadook this movie kind of unnerved me a bit whenever Pennywise [sp]or something else[/sp] appeared. I won't go into much detail but the moments with [sp]the painting at the church and the projector scene[/sp] scared the shit out of me in the whole movie, with the former reminding me of a creepy charcoal painting with eerily similar features from an old children's book (some of you know the one). The kids imo were phenomenal actors and the guy who did Pennywise really sold the performance.
I'm giving the film an A.
