Hell if I can remember anything that happened in it. Regardless I just put those two in there for the hell of it since boxofficemojo lists them under horror categories, and action-horror is still horror. course the whole discussion becomes pointless when you factor in inflation and suddenly even The Exorcist's record becomes nowhere near close to being broken lol. Directly comparing the box office records of two films made 45 years apart is a bit silly, but these guys said it best.
I Am Legend was a horror film ?
This movie was a horror film? Just got back from seeing it. It was just kinda goofy really. Good movie, just not even a little scary. All the BOOSPOOKY parts looked like cgi from live action scooby-doo movies IMO.
i loved the goofyness of some of the scares, it got a bit evil dead at times
i love how some of these journalists keep missing the "R rated" part of the record and just report it as "HIGHEST GROSSING HORROR FILM EVER" when in reality it isn't even close yet (there's also these two but those are a bit debatable on if they really count) :dogsleep:
Are these adjusted for inflation? It still hasn't opened everywhere yet too. Also you can't compare 40 weeks of earnings for Sixth Sense to 4 weeks of earnings for It????
Are these adjusted for inflation?
nop, like I already said on my other post. Factor that in and 'It' is even further off ($1.1 billion for Sixth Sense, $1.8 billion for Exorcist)
It still hasn't opened everywhere yet too.
It only has Italy and Japan left to open. It's hard to say since who knows it could really take off over there, but looking at how popular R rated horror movies typically do and assuming it does a fair bit better you'd probably be looking at another 10-15, or maaaybe even 20 million from just them. 'It' needs another $120 million to secure the worldwide record. It'll probably be a close race so who knows, but regardless it will still land the record for #1 horror film for just here in the States in the next few days. And ofc all of that is without considering inflation.
Also you can't compare 40 weeks of earnings for Sixth Sense to 4 weeks of earnings for It????
Uh I'm not???? I'm just stating that it's not hit the record yet since some people are jumping the gun lol. Regardless tho you can't just look at it as "40 weeks vs 4". you're dealing with two films that had polar opposite box office runs, with Sixth Sense having a small opening but steady box office draw thanks to freakishly small weekend drop rates, and "It" having a mostly typical front-loaded fast-money run. Early or not it's not impossible to make some assumptions about where 'It' will end up and how they'll then compare.
What I liked about 'IT', was that 'IT' reminded me when I was a kid and was scared of a guitar case (don't know why)used to dream the guitar case going to eat me.
I've have that same guitar holder
The [sp]flute lady[/sp] was definitely the worst thing if you ask me. Really helps drive the point that IT is not just Pennywise, and I'm glad they chose to include that thing. The goddamn dance though, I burst out into laughter when I saw that. I feel like this adaption is pretty capable of mixing horror with humor, but not to the point that the humor destroys the horror because it turns it into a laughing fest. Now I wonder what they're going to do with the adult versions of the characters... I wonder if they're gonna make things so much worse for the characters.
So for part 2, are they [sp]basically going to have to rewrite everything? Even the Miniseries adult section is kinda jank because it gets filled with just random shit[/sp]
