The first single from the new album (could it be called Act III: The Cover Up?) and first cassette from The Protomen. It's limited so get it while it is hottttt.

Oh cool, the new album is releasing earlier than I would've expected.
Their show at PAX East 2012 probably had the best sound setup, but my first show with them was back in March of 2011 at a firehouse, and they've managed to put on a very good show, mostly because of the fan interaction, but the sound system was top notch, although I couldn't make out what KILROY was saying under his mask most of the time.
To be fair, I would think that it's pretty difficult to keep your vocal cords in good shape all throughout the tour, and from what they've said during a conversation I've had with them, they get little sleep in between shows while on the road.

It's not going to be a new act, it's a cover album. I Drove All Night was made famous by Cyndi Lauper, and Silent Running (On Dangerous Ground) was originally recorded and performed by Mike + The Mechanics.
Get jams

I wonder if they'll ever release a vinyl version of Act II.
Of course they will. They can't just do Act 1 and not do the next acts.
Anybody know their tour schedule for 2013? If they swing by Indy or Fort Wayne again I'll be sure to attend.

I think they've decided not to based on not really knowing where to split the album.
I got to see the protomen out in anaheim today, my GF surprized me, I'll probably post the loot later, though. It's a little late here.
Bumpan'
The Protomen were in a town nearby and I had to go see 'em.

They're really nice guys, too.
Also, when you go to their concert for the first time, don't leave when they walk off stage the first time. They always come back on after the crowd demands another song for a bit. Once they play Due Vendetta, you may leave :v:

Thanks to this thread I've listened to Act 2 at least three times in the past two days. It has the same charm that the War of the Worlds musical has.
Vengeance
Enough said
Slight bump. :v:
Last December, the short film Light Up the Night released, along with some merch packs themed after LUTN. I ordered the Fancy Pack including a signed poster, Act II on vinyl, LUTN on Blu Ray and other goodies. They started shipping the stuff this week finally and my poster arrived first.

(I'm out of wall space and moving in a month so I'm going to wait to hang it)
So if anyone else bought merch, expect it soon.
I went back and listened to The Cover Up. This is the definitive version of this song to me.

If anyone else preordered the Act II vinyl over a year ago, I just got a pretty vague email with a tracking number. I think it finally shipped.
I didn't even realize there was a vinyl record preorder.
i missed that, is it still for sale anywhere?

I think you can actually still pre-order on their site. I got the fancy pack.

i really wish they'd release act 1 on vinyl
They did a while back IIRC and those records are really expensive when they pop up. I hope they do another run. I have TCU on vinyl as well as the Act III promo, now Act II, so it'd be nice to complete the set.
I would love to see an musical of ACT I and II animated in the style of ACT II's cover art. Every time I listen to the albums, I try to envision what that would look like.
Holy shit. Didn't know Facepunch had a Protomen thread. Newpunch seems as good as time as any to become more active in it.
Just incase anyone doesn't also occasionally check out the Protomen subreddit, there's talk that the band is going very light on tours this year to focus on Act III. Perhaps another single may release this year, or even word on the full album.
Yeah, the band's composition has changed a lot since the thread started which isn't a surprise but it is hard to keep track of. I pretty sure I heard Ringo left as well at some point.
Protomen are kind of a supergroup, everyone in it is primarily part of another band. Everyone who's "left" has popped in from time to time and I believe still get involved in some studio recordings.
