I am not sure but I feel like the only one who doesn't like Richard that much, not because of his violent behavior but generally he doesn't do much and is just plain evil without much depth to be honest. I don't feel particularly threatened by him nor does it feel suspensful. I thought that Windom was more unpredictable and suitable evil character. Leo was also far more interesting generally speaking.
yeah richard's appearances on the show have been nothing but irritating to me. Windom earle was a bad guy who did awful things but he was also a genius and in that part, respectable. Richard is just a pathetic and insecure (nearly starts crying when being called a kid) fuck who does nothing but evil things and just makes you feel angry.
Part of me wants him killed off but a part of me hopes we get more depth to him instead. Maybe Lynch manages to even make us feel sympathetic towards him by the end of the show? That would be pretty crazy.
But the most important question is: [sp]Is Dougie's wife technically cheating with Cooper if Dougie didn't really exist and was based on Cooper all along?[/sp]

That's kinda my problem with new Twin Peaks as a whole right now.
Many of the characters in old Twin Peaks felt human, bantered with each other, and developed over the show. All of them had depth to them at least. They were relatable.
Almost all of the characters in new Twin Peaks seem to only exist to push the plot along and have like no humanity to them whatsoever, with a few exceptions of the show veterans (like Bobby). They all act robotically and have so little depth to them. The only surprising character moments in this episode were Janey-E acting out of lust instead of just helping and covering for Dougie again, and Gordon happily watching Albert on his date with the coroner lady. And those happened to be the best parts of the episode too!
I dunno, I'm really digging the slow burn this season. It's not like nothing has happened and I never have any idea where the show is going to go.
nice inland empire avatar
that scene scared the f out of me, along with [sp]that fucking distorted laura dern face, you know the one
i hope that i never see that face ever outside of a dream[/sp]
So people have theorized [sp]that Chad actually got the wrong letter, since the name on the letter doesn't match up with the credits.
Also it was pointed out that the trailer that Richard was trying to blow up had a big hole in the side so if these aren't continuity errors it'll be hilarious to see their plans fall apart.[/sp]

Another continuity error that had people speculating was [sp]the text message that Diane received was all-caps and had no punctuation, unlike the message that Booper sent. This led people to think that someone might be relaying the messages to Diane.
Technically it could still be true but it looks like it was most likely just an error[/sp]
the production values are pretty low this season. i'm betting it's all just errors

nobody believed me about the plane...
I don't think the letter is continuity tbh, Lynch is being very particular with the credits.
I was listening to Rebekah del Rio's song from the end of the last episode again, and there's something really weird about halfway through the song.
At 3:13, you can hear a strange low pitched noise for a single syllable in her line that kinda sounds like a guttural moan from a second person or something. It sticks out like a sore thumb.

Totally stretching, but the song's co-written by Lynch and the lyrics are pretty relevant to the show already. I dunno, it's probably nothing but even if it was an unintentional error in recording, it can still be a cute little reference to evil doppelgangers or whatever :downs:

Videos from the show's SDCC panel if anyone's interested. An early viewing of Part 11 was screened later that night. Also, starting August 6th, the show will air an hour earlier (8 PM EST/7 PM CST).

Gotta say, there's so many things I love about the new show and the incredibly tense and slow burn, but Richard's scenes being almost universally just crude pointless violence is really pushing my patience. I know Lynch loves some unsettling violent human interaction but this is just tedious, I'm hoping that there's some eventual payoff but Lynch seems to have adopted a "for its own sake" mentality.
A lot of the new characters feel like oddballs for no good reason, like that weirdo who pushed Richard around in the earlier episode with calling him "kid" and Ike the Pike, as well as the drug addict in the house opposite the one where Dougie's car blew up. I loved Twin Peaks because its surrealism and absurdity fit into the plot and the world, not just because of cuhrazy David Lynchâ„¢ hijinks.
Still, even with all that, even with the new characters and even with the copious amounts of unneeded violence and even with almost every episode ending in a dull dreampop song with too much reverb, loving the new show.
Oh shit, I didn't know that it was Naomi Watts in Mulholland Drive. I need to go back and watch some of his movies again now that I'm more familiar with his pool of actors.
Anyone know how soon after the episode airs it is available on Showtime's site? I plan on finishing the Vinesauce charity stream before watching, and it ends around the same time the show will.

on amazon they're available at the same time that it's airing on TV so you probably won't have to wait long
That was a DAMN FINE episode.
god I loved this episode, it had all my favorite things in the new season
An episode that literally went through all emotions one could feel.
[sp]I don't trust Lynch with having children on screen after the hit n' run.[/sp]
...I love this guy!
[sp]the woman who was hiding in the apartment building with steven was gersten hayward. AKA donna's sister[/sp]
she was on the cast list but i was really curious why they would bring her back
Loved that episode more than cherry pie, happy how it all turned out.

It's simultaneous
[sp]who the hell puts their pie in the cardboad box?[/sp]
[sp]When Dougie was eating the cherry pie and he said "damn good," it's like Cooper briefly regained consciousness. His mannerisms for that brief moment were a lot like Coop[/sp]
This episode basically confirms my theory that reality is genuinely being dramatically affected by the events of the new series
What was with the fucking [sp]kid in the car spitting up all that shit after appearing out of the darkness and the woman screaming with bobby just staring[/sp] it was fucking horrifying
Fuck you Shelly. Jesus Christ do you not have any common sense?

[sp]Could be that she's setting him up for Narc raid?[/sp]
