So I've just watched the first two episodes of season 1 and I'm not really feeling it. What exactly is supposed to be so great about this show? So far it's only been a bunch of slow soap opera-y drama stuff mixed with some routine policework. So Laura's dead and about 30 characters get introduced, but I don't really have a reason to care about any of them. Except maybe agent Cooper, I already like that guy. Basically nothing particularly interesting happened in over 2 hours. Does it get better later on or is this just not for me?

Alright, now I'm 6 episodes in and it did get a bit more interesting and easier to watch. Though I still don't understand where all the high praise for this show comes from.
And what's up with the music? It's like they only came up with a few themes for different moods/situations and then decided to use them over and over and over and over and over and over and over again till they become completely fucking meaningless. It's like pre-canned cues telling you how you should feel, like a laugh track in a sitcom. Except that it doesn't work and just feels cheap.
Don't go in expecting a retro Breaking Bad just because a lot of people like it. It sounds like you're judging it based on the standards of something totally different.
It's oozing with charm and maintains an unusual balance between genuinely emotional, funny, dark, and plain weird that Lynch is really good at. That's not to say that there aren't gonna be some clunky moments too, to be fair.
They do recycle the music a lot but it IS an old television show and if you're into cheesy 80s music like a bunch of people are it's a memorable part of the show.
yeah if you dont like Laura Palmer's theme Twin Peaks s1-2 is gonna be pretty unwatchable for you lmao

I mean I don't exactly hate the music, I just don't like the heavy-handed, in your face way in which it's used. You usually expect this sort of mood-setting background music to be very subtle to the point where you don't even consciously realize it's there. But here it's really obvious and it repeats all the time, you can't help but constantly notice it. Makes it kinda distracting IMO.
