Twin Peaks - That show you like is going to come back in style

Watched the finale last night. Had a shitty night's sleep.
I think I loved it though. [sp]I liked how ep17 was basically Lynch saying "here's what you think you want" then ep18 slaps you round the face. My interpretation, and I think a number of people's, is that Cooper went too far by trying to save Laura and only ended up making things worse. There's obviously a lot more to it than that but that's all my brain can conjure right now. [/sp]
I watched FWWM right after finishing season 2 without any forward knowledge that it's going to be 99% devoid of the usual whimsical fun of TV Twin Peaks and would amplify the overtness of the violence by like 500%, so it was a massive shock. Not a bad movie but I can imagine other people like me were simply left with a very bad taste in their mouth from the initial shock of it and never gave it a chance for reassessment.
I was also super bummed that Bowie was only in it for like 4 minutes and half his scene had some shitty overlay on him (on the original cut; I've seen the cut version without the overlay and it's so much butter), not to mention even Cooper only being in it for like 10 minutes with Kyle Machlachlan not really putting much of an effort, but I know things between him and Lynch were tense at the time and he didn't really want to do the movie.
Just got done seeing FWWM, and man it was much more sad than I thought it would be.
Might as well watch Twin Peaks Missing Pieces while you're at it. There's a bunch of great deleted scenes that didn't make the final movie for some reason.

This has things that are really cool and some things that are huge stretch or even obviously not right.
The Dark Souls fan in me that's used to overall themes being more important than extremely specific explanations really likes to see it as: [sp]17 is more a straightforward ending and 18 is sort of a "dark world" companion that connects missing dots.[/sp]
okay I'm confused on something, what happened to keither sutherland's character and the other FBI agent?

Chet Desmond disappeared.
Sam Stanley became a recluse and an alcoholic.
Huh, they're basically rebranding 'the return' as just straight up season 3. Shouldn't surprise me but somehow does.
hulu still has it as the return

They're billing the Bluray/DVD release as Season 3:

The BBFC has listed the titles of the extra materials on the upcoming blu-ray release. 3.5 hours in total. Hopefully it's not [sp]guy sweeping the floor for hours.[/sp]
Three and a half hours more of Twib Peeps? If it's not just featurettes than fuck.
He's very skeptical but even if he does, he said it would take several years.
and honestly given his age and many of the ages of the cast/crew idk if we can wait that many years
So this happened!!

Box art for the season 3 blu-ray set now reads "A Limited Event Series" rather than "The Third Season"
Spoilers are out about the Final Dossier book. It answers some of the questions that were raised in the series.
It also reveals what happened to [sp]Annie[/sp].
Worth noting that Lynch had zero involvement in Frost’s books, and Lynch actually continued adding to the script while Frost worked on his books independently. So some inconsistencies wouldn’t be surprising.
Read through the Final Dossier in one sitting. Hoo boy. [sp]Coop changed the timeline. Tammy notices this and is beginning to feel her mind get hazy on the details. Current timeline is that Laura went missing and Leland killed himself. "I did not kill anybody", remember Leland said that in the lodge.[/sp]
