Started out disappointed that it was a straight continuation with all the same characters but was very impressed by the end. Hopefully they can keep the intrigue up.
Same here. I was really wondering how they were going to milk that one "closed" case, but the outcome has surprised me. And returning to Sandyhook, that's just brilliant.
Honestly, I absolutely loved last night's episode from beginning to end
Seriously, they're all such good actors and the soundtrack was great
I really hope the whole Mark + Tom thing doesn't amount to something worse than it needs to be. It's obviously weird and inappropriate but hopefully it's nothing more than them just playing Fifa.

is it?
is it?
Yes. If it wasn't they wouldn't need to do it in private and hide it from others.
Yes. If it wasn't they wouldn't need to do it in private and hide it from others.
Right now it looks plain and simple as if Mark misses his son and Tom is a substitute for him, but I can easily see how this gets out, spins out of control and everyone takes it the very bad way.
remind me why the mum hates miller again?? did i miss something because she basically turned her back on her husband when she found out too?

Because she was married to the person she was trying to catch. Pretty hard to get over.

In last episode of Season 1 there was a short discussion between Mum and Miller, when Mum simply asked her "How could you not see what was happening?" which was a form of a retort when Miller asked her the same question when Dad's affair came out.

Nah it was obviously an ironic thing with Miller, she blames that woman in the caravan for her husbands crimes actually saying to her "How could you not know?" in the penultimate episode of s1. Beth says the exact same to Ellie in the final episode.

i heard the first season was on netflix
here's a review
This is the worst crime series I've seen in a long time. All the good reviews are unfathomable to me. Do you enjoy watching/thinking about young children being tortured and murdered? If so, you'll love this.
wow
Shit, I think I'm going to stop watching this show, because every scene breaks my heart.
The season 2 episodes are available here for free (and legally); http://tv.nrk.no/serie/broadchurch/KOIF25000214/sesong-2/episode-2
Not sure if it works outside Scandinavia though.
I didn't find episode two that great. Nothing much really happened or was set up apart from that woman I don't care about [sp]being abducted[/sp].

Well, how about [sp]the crucial element of the investigation that was killer's confession was dismissed from the court?[/sp] That was pretty important.

I guess. Everything just seems to be moving so slowly, especially compared to season 1.
I want to make this clear that I don't think this is actually going to happen, but imagine if Mark went nuts and killed Tom as revenge.
I want to make this clear that I don't think this is actually going to happen, but imagine if Mark went nuts and killed Tom as revenge.
That would be slightly over the top. Like "jumping the shark" tier.
Poor Ellie.
This fucking show.

I mean, the first season was detective drama in its highest quality. The second one looks like the best court drama in years.
I really don't understand this whole [sp]husband subplot. He's a stalker, like, he's THREATENED A POLICE OFFICER. Even if the case is all sorts of fucked up, he should not be allowed anywhere near anyone who had anything to do with that old investigation.[/sp]

Yes, but neither Hardy nor the wife can do anything. [sp]Hardy is suspended as a police investigator and broke shitload of rules for his previous case, and wife acts like she's scared of him but something else is obviously going on. It's stretched, but it works I guess[/sp]
Chibnall is really good at writing characters that I want to smother.
im not really liking this season to be honest

For me it's more "I hate what is going on the screen and I love it".

wow episode five really took a crazy turn

I fucking knew I recognized that music from somewhere. That tiny tingling feeling at the back of my head, thanks for claryfing that.
But on topic of the series. It's getting progressively weaker. We're halfway down the season and the development is struggling. The Sandyhook case is almost resolved ([sp]So the wife had an affair with the father, but Hardy was to blind to see it because he was fucking her too, kind of boring[/sp]). Unless there's going to be any breaking in the case or yet another twist I don't see how S2 can top the first one.
But then I'd love to be proven wrong.
I'm still loving it. I think the father killed the girls but I also feel that might be a red herring.
Another pretty damn strong episode if you ask me.
[sp]The furnace. Yikes.[/sp]
