I wish it was more of a lovecraftian fish man than a romantic fish man.
Abe has been known to put a foot in an ass when necessary, and frankly cthulhu stuff hasn't been doing that well recently in mass media.

It looks like they've taken quite a bit of liberty with just the period references alone. As cool as it looks in its own right, I'll be disappointed if it loses all of the classic/nostalgic charm. Also, I know this used to have its own thread but it's relevant enough

fuck GoT tbh I can't wait for this
I feel we're reaching saturation point with these movies. They aren't exactly bad but they all follow the exact same formula and are often based on well-known recent events that the audience are likely to know the outcome of. Makes all the scenes leading up to the part everyone came to see feel super contrived.
For a moment I thought it was that guy that kept doing patriotic American movies like deepwater horizon and Patriot's day Then I remembered Mark Wahlberg isn't in this one
It's nice to see a movie about hotshots/wild land firefighters. They really are a bunch of unsung heroes, especially out here in the west.

I wonder, if the next Godzilla movie does sufficiently well, do you think they'd consider making a standalone Mothra movie? I honestly think that'd be a cool idea.
Show me King Ghidorah already
http://www.comingsoon.net/movies/news/873455-bond-25-release-date-set-for-november-2019 25th bond film is set for November 2019. No other details yet (including if Craig is returning). Mentioning it because Christopher Nolan has again been expressing interest in doing a Bond movie lately, and he's just now come off of Dunkirk so the timing is perfect right now. Would not be surprised at all if that ends up happening.
Imagine a Bond film with the quality of TDK.

They have been doing this since 1999. Is there nobody else? I've enjoyed Craig, but I don't need a continuation of Bond's mid-life crisis.
To be fair, they've always followed up a good Bond movie with a bad one, so superstition dictates that this one might be good. That said, Purvis and Wade really are a bunch of hacks and the good movies are only good because reputable writers have polished them up (i.e. Paul Haggis and John Logan)

http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/lionsgate-plotting-john-wick-universe-ballerina-action-script-1024318 There may be a John Wick spin-off called Ballerina.
Details are being kept under the tutu, but the story is known to center on a young woman raised as an assassin who must hunt down the other assassins that murdered her family.
Could this be the beginnings of the John Wick Cinematic Universe (JWCU)?

Could this be the beginnings of the John Wick Cinematic Universe (JWCU)?
Honestly, I've just head-canon'd any hitman/assassin based film released in the last couple of years(Accountant, Atomic Blonde) is set in in the "Wick-verse" already. They're all pretty simple and not that well-fleshed out world wise that they slip in easily enough

As long as they manage to keep it fresh.
But where will i get my convoluted explanation of where the Xenomorphs came from now?
Ridley Scott's insane ramblings. I'm sure he will talk shitload about the now cancelled pre-sequels.
With 232 million revenue on a 100 million dollar budget, it seems that the Alien sequels will probably be cancelled. Damn.
I would have liked to have seen Blokamp's Alien film. I do remember an interview with Scott where he said there was a script or rough draft and that was it. Wasn't going to happen. Covenant left me confused and disappointed , and this is coming from a huge Alien fan. It really says something when Alien Isolation, a video game managed to capture more of the spirit of the original film than the last 2 films by the original director. Alien was Lightning in a bottle. It was a perfect storm of writers, actors, producers, concept art, sound design etc all in one, and trying to recreate those key elements is very difficult. I love Scott, but he needs a fucking decent script.
i really doubt somehow that even if it was a success, that ridley scott wouldve allowed anyone to make a sequel to alien
I'm thinking that's the reason why Blokamp's movie was shitcanned. Ridley doesn't want to hand the reigns over. I can kindof understand why because Blokamp has had 1 hit (District 9) a flop (Elysium, I liked it though) and a meh (Chappie). I think Ridley and the studios are apprehensive to hand over a huge franchise to a relatively new director. I'd love to see Neil take a swing at it personally but I can understand why it probably isn't going to happen.

Like Lamal and Erioire.
just in case you thought the Transformers Cinematic Universeā„¢ wasn't still happening http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/john-cena-joins-transformers-spinoff-bumblebee-1025411
John Cena has nabbed a lead role in the Transformers spinoff Bumblebee. Hailee Steinfeld is leading the cast of Paramount's new film, which will center on the yellow and black bot Bumblebee. The pic will feature a young cast including Jorge Lendeborg, Jason Drucker, Abby Quinn, Rachel Crow, Ricardo Hoyos and Gracie Dzienny. The story is set in the year 1987, where Bumblebee finds refuge in a junkyard in a small California beach town. Charlie (Steinfeld), on the cusp of turning 18 and trying to find her place in the world, discovers Bumblebee, battle-scarred and broken. When Charlie revives him, she quickly learns this is no ordinary yellow VW bug. Travis Knight, who directed the stop-motion movie Kubo and the Two Strings, is helming Bumblebee from a script by Christina Hodson (Shut In). The movie project is the first spinoff in what the studio hopes will be a Transformers Cinematic Universe that will include prequels and offshoots from a line of movies that have generated more than $3.7 billion worldwide. The most recent film, Transformers: The Last Knight, hit theaters June 23, and has earned $568.9 million worldwide to date.
l o l. also what the fuck is Travis Knight doing directing this god damn
