someone did the impossible and convinced Linda Hamilton to go near a James Cameron-affiliated movie again. she's gonna be in the next terminator [del]flop[/del] film http://www.comingsoon.net/movies/news/888939-linda-hamilton-will-return-to-the-terminator-franchise#/slide/1 also apparently this film is meant to be the start of a new trilogy of films. weren't the last two terminator films both attempting to do that as well before they fell flat on their faces lol

The only good film they could have made was a film set during the future was as a sequel/prequel where we see the humans try and survive the terminators, like what we see in T1/T2's future sequences.
Salvation wasn't anything like what we got from T1/T2's version of the future.
How much of the future do you really see though? Isn't it just one scene at night, robots crushing skulls in a field or something?
How much of the future do you really see though? Isn't it just one scene at night, robots crushing skulls in a field or something?
It would have to be a balance of action scenes and character development as we see the characters try and live day to day. There is enough room for a few action scenes. A few smaller ones, such as one terminator infiltrating a human hideout. Maybe you could have 2 or 3 survivors try and make to another hideout and have them avoid robots, and have an action scene or two with them. Maybe two big ones, one to show off how the humans fight at night when things get hectic like in the beginning of 2 and one for the finale where the humans take down a large enough part of SkyNet that SkyNet gets the idea to send back Arnie to the first movie. Considering that Terminator is kinda thinking mans action movie, I would want some actual character development and exploration of themes.
How much of the future do you really see though? The only marvel netflix series I watched to completion was daredevil and Punisher was hands down the best part of S2 so this is basically all I want.
I hope they kept in Alex Tse/David Hayter's idea of the [sp]Dr. Manhattan bomb wiping out New York instead of a giant fake alien monster.[/sp] That made much more sense. Other than that, the film was nearly similar to the comic book, other than the over-the-top gore and omission of the in-universe comic (yea, there's that Gerald Butler animation film). Hopefully they'll find a way to implement the latter in without breaking up the pacing.
Reposting this from the Jor-El thread the other week:
[sp]The purpose of the psychic squid abomination was to present a completely foreign, seemingly alien threat that would annihilate a civilian population and unite the world under the presumption that more of their kind could come at any time and the petty infighting of nations / world war three isnt as important as protecting everyone from lovecraftian monsters from space. It completely changes the worlds dynamic if they think these immensely powerful beings can just materialize in the worlds biggest city and kill everyone inside of it at any time, regardless of nation or politics. The problem is this plan has a number of cracks in it and theres implications that the world peace it brings wont last when the truth comes out, which is hinted at by a lot of the imagery such as the constantly counting down doomsday clock, especially Adrian raising his fists in such a position that the overall image makes a doomsday clock about to hit midnight, and when Dr. Manhattan disappears he leaves a mushroom cloud in the solar system display in the finale after telling him "nothing ever ends". Its also why the ending of the movie makes no fucking sense if you think about it for more than a minute.[/sp]
Your post didn't explain why the Manhattan ending is bad though so allow me [sp]Manhattan is a known entity. A complete unknown is more threatening. Psychologists can and have evaluated Manhattan. Why would Manhattan fuck off the planet, come back to blow up New York, and then fuck off again? Not to mention an ARMY is something to fear more than a single entity. Manhattan was powerful but not all powerful. Also the squid makes the comedian and andrians cat make more sense, as minor as the latter is. Squid also gave many people psychic ptsd rather than kill them. Manhattan or squid aside Adrian was fucked over. No longer a sympathetic character since in the book he feels immediate regret and shame and begs Manhattan to tell him the future. In both the peace is fucked thanks to Rorschach. And in the end squid was only cut to save on runtime, ultimately[/sp]
I love the graphic novel, but the squid was super convoluted and I didn't miss it in the movie, and wont miss it here if they ditch it again. But that's just my unpopular opinion.
idk I thought the [sp]squid[/sp] was fucking perfect after some time of letting it set in.
