The Purge was a shitty movie, and yet how many sequels did it poop out? Like 3 at this point?

Wait, this is a stealth sequel to Moon? Everywhere is showing Sam Rockwell playing Sam Bell again.

I've found the Purge movies to be guilty pleasures. The sequels got slightly better when they started to actually shown the Purge instead of it being a home invasion film.

My curiosity has been piqued

they aired this commercial immediately after the state of the union finished.

Paramount (the people making the cloverfield movies) sold annihilation's international rights (not us and china) to netflix

seems paramount just doesnt trust its sci-fi movies anymore.
At least it's not live-action.
Illumination tho
[editline]1st February 2018[/editline]
I’d rather have a scotched up Bob Hoskins any day over thst
Miyamoto Co-producing gives me some hope.

It's that sweet sweet alleged Nintendo input that keeps me interested. Illumination has an iffy track record but this could be a new leaf.
A new teaser for Castle Rock

Still not sold on the premise, but goddamn them actors.
My worries with Castle Rock is that there'll be too many cooks.
Too many plotlines.

Yeah it seems to me like it has the potential to be another "binge Watch" style show for me, but if they try to cram too many characters and subplots into the mix it'll end up being a confusing mess.
I hope it's good though. As much as I like Netflix, I'd like to see Hulu catch up with more quality shows as well.

Stephen Soderbergh had to film this on an iPhone because you didn't see Logan Lucky.
Lethal Weapon 5 might be dead in the water
http://www.joblo.com/movie-news/richard-donner-doesn-t-believe-that-lethal-weapon-5-will-happen-now-269
And I’m ready to do 5. It’s called Lethal Finale. It’s very dark. And we were all set to go and now Warner Bros. is doing their old-fashioned tricks. Not Warner Bros., there’s this guy who runs the studio who’s great but they have these people in the legal department who do the negotiating in the most counter-productive way. They should be sent to a studio and work with the producers and directors and actors, and learn what makes a film, and then negotiate. But it’s just embarrassing. And it’s too bad, because there’s a wonderful writer named Channing Gibson, who wrote 4 for me, and we have a really great story. It is dark, but I wanted to end it on an emotional note, and I don’t think it’s gonna happen. It's heartbreaking.
from that description it sounds like he was gonna kill them off anyways so maybe it's for the best
As fun as it would be to see Mel and Danny back in the roles, 4 felt like an appropriate enough epilogue for it all, so I'm fine if it never happens.
Besides, Martin Scorsese was barely able to talk Joe Pesci into The Irishman, how the hell would Donner bring him back this time?
So uh, Jumanji is back at the number 1 spot at the box office. This officially makes it the first December release to still grab the number 1 spot by February since James Cameron's Titanic back in 1998. It's currently sitting at $855 million worldwide. Good god nobody saw this coming lol.

also might as well change the thread title a bit since this has pretty much always been the movie/tv news thread and not just the place to post promotional material

Would help if anything worth a shit came out. It's why Greatest Showman continues charting too.
Will this be a good video game movie?

I'm sure if it were release against, say, a Star Wars or other blockbuster it'd be left in the dust.
Out of all the movies currently in theaters right now it seems the most generally appealing.
Go onto your Netflix right now.
