I dunno, it feels about as much of a Cloverfield sequel/spinoff as Shrek is a spinoff of the original Frankenstein. I'm going to wait for more things to come out, it doesn't really interest me thus far.

Cloverfield is great partly because there's nothing else like it. It's the only big budget found footage movie and, at the time, one of the only big budget monster movies too.

I feel like it was retroactively hated because it was part of kickstarting the massive found-footage trend and then got lumped in with all the shit ones.

She couldn't reveal any details, but she said that she read the whole script and it seemed very good, she said the director was really passionate about it and it seems like an intriguing movie. Of course, translation from paper to film can be problematic but at least I have a first positive opinion from an insider. Also, fassbender apparently is an awesome dude. He offered free beer and shit to the cast, crew and extras. (thats a damn lot of beer).
