And it's rumored that Aaron Paul has been cast in The Dark Tower, most likely as Eddie Dean
Solid choice, not to mention that Paul said he wanted to play Dean all the way back in 2012
Nolan meets with WWII vets and interviews them during Dunkirk pre-production
So there we were in The Butchers Arms in Sonning Common, a fantastic pub that describes itself as ‘a local boozer that welcomes dogs and has bring-your-own-vinyl evenings just outside Henley, they’ve got a river don’t you know?, with Jane’s dad Edward and another fine Dunkirk veteran called George, whose wit is as clever and as quick as a wily poacher, to meet with a film researcher to talk about their experiences during the evacuation from the beaches of Dunkirk ahead of a forthcoming film. Introductions made we then spent an hour or so listening to someone called Chris and his researcher chatting to Edward and George on camera. After Dunkirk Edward ended up in North Africa whilst George returned to the European theatre where he was later captured having taken a short cut back to his division. It was actually most enlightening especially the way both of them avoided the finer details of the scenes on the beach and their actual escape. Dunkirk lasted from 27th May until 4th June with around 340,000 British and French troops being rescued. Chris’s researcher explained that although it was to be a screenplay they wanted to try and ensure that the portrayal of the Dunkirk Evacuation was as honestly and realistically portrayed as possible. To this end they were interviewing the few remaining veterans to get their stories and have enlisted the help the Association of Dunkirk Little Ships aided by their Commodore, Ian Gilbert. Each year they organise the Annual Veterans Cruise on the second Sunday in September between Hampton Court and Weybridge to which we get the honour of taking Edward. Afterwards we had a very interesting chat about Churchill’s ‘Fight them on the beaches’ speech given on the 4th May to the British people which they had listened to time and again and remains one of the cleverest and carefully composed speech ever given by a politician. Pleasantries exchanged we headed back, I dropped Edward off and headed to the Swan for a swifty. Our Pete called in and asked how the meeting had gone and what was it about. I explained that we had met someone called Chris Nolan whereupon he went completely blabber. “Dad, he is the director of loads of great stuff, like he is only the director of Batman Begins and Dark Knight!” Pete the Plank obliged by looking him up on his wipwap phone only to discover, to Pete’s now complete frustration that I had clearly not a clue, that the proposed film of Dunkirk was not only to be produced by Mr Nolan but would be directed by him and was going to star Tom Hardy, Mark Rylance and Kenneth Branagh. “Is Tom Hardy actually going to play Granddad?” spluttered Pete. I told him yes and made him buy me an ESB. Well the film is due for release on 21st July 2017 with filming set to start in May and Chris Nolan, even now I know who he is, was a pleasure to meet.

1. Black community complains about whitewashing and hiring not enough black actors.
2. Make a film about black soul music legend
3. A black actress is cast
4. Complain that she's not black enough.
I pretty much have no comment on that matter
All this backlash at Hollywood for not casting black actors is bullshit. I'm not saying it doesn't happen but I don't think they are in the wrong. Movies are a business and if they think that casting white people is more financially sound then they are totally in their right to do it. Look at what Ridley Scott did with Exodus. He said he had to cast big name white actors or else he wouldn't have been given the budget he wanted. In his shoes, I would have done the same thing.
If they want someone to blame for this, they should blame audiences. Until Hollywood thinks there is more of a demand for black actors in movies, they probably won't make any big change besides adding a few more tokens here and there. Think about it. If you want more black actors in movies, you can't just tell Hollywood that they are a bunch of racist old men. You have to take it upon yourself to speak with your wallet by supporting those movies with black actors. Go see the next Creed or Selma. Maybe Nina or the one about Miles Davis with Don Cheadle, whatever it's called.
Looks dope as fuck

i'm stil holding off since imo this shit isn't really that big of news, research is pretty much what's expected of anyone trying to do a historically accurate war film. Once we're closer to the filming start date (which is ~2 months) I'll make a thread, since that's when real news will start pouring in and we'll have something to consistently discuss.
[editline]10th March 2016[/editline]
and right after i say that the lead role may have just been cast
http://www.thewrap.com/christopher-nolan-eyes-newcomer-fionn-whitehead-for-lead-in-wwii-movie-dunkirk-exclusive/
so maybe i'll be making the thread sooner rather than later.

Rowan Atkinson in a dramatic lead? I'm very interested. Also, Mark Heap!

I'll admit, this isn't really news since A, it's strictly pre-production and B, it could get relegated to development hell at any moment. Still, I didn't expect to hear anything about JJ Abrams and his Valve deal again after it was first announced, so that's something. And, if that Assassin's Creed movie is any good, there's a strong chance it might happen. Who wouldn't throw money at the project from guy who just made the new Star Wars movie?
they are probably already done but they just waiting for another Michael bay movie so they can slap it in the preview reel

it's probably gonna suck
if anything, hardcore henry is the half-life movie that we all want/need.

Hardcore is literally nothing like Half Life outside of it being first person.
Hardcore is literally nothing like Half Life outside of it being first person.
but that's what i mean
first person/silent protagonist
I could totally see the Half Life movie being about the 7 Hour war.
The seven hour war would fit perfectly for a Movie based on HL.
HL itself, however(at least the second one)would work best as a tv miniseries retelling the events of HL2. there is so much going on that a 2hour movie wouldn't really do it the justice it deserves, does it?
So many game movies fail because they're watered down versions of the source material. Really they should focus on expanding the series with original stories set in the same universe. The Assassin's Creed movie is actually an okay idea because it's taking advantage of that freedom.
they did that with the Doom movie. it still didn't work aparently.
Hollywood is just that bad with adaptations because it (needs to) looks apealing to a broad audience rather than to the fanbase. wich is why some liberties must be made for it to make sense.
sometimes it works (like in MK) and sometimes it simply ends being alien to the original concept(mario bros)

Good pont, but I'd say Doom and MK are different because they're separate canons just based on the games. The AC movie can at least take that liberty and be part of the main series, instead of a butchered Hollywood retelling of Desmond/Altair. The seven hour war could be a good canon HL movie for the same reason.
Factually bullshit or not, prolly gonna be a great movie.
i'm still sticking to what i said before
them notes better match up.
it's literally Food Fight

Okay, okay, the Oreo bit was a good joke.
It's not that it got made, it's that someone had to approve it.
it's literally Food Fight
At least it's better than foodfight.
I don't have the link but Indiana Jones 5 has been given a release date of July 2019, Ford and Spielberg returning along with Frank Marshall and Kathleen Kennedy as producers.
https://www.instagram.com/p/BC2PLIWTFvL/
Fast and Furious 8 in production.
I should see if I can find the posts from people in my local car club, most if not all of the cars for F&F8 went through my city's port to get to Iceland.

how is ford still doing this shit like for real he was already too old ten years ago. props to him I guess an here's to hoping it's a return to form for the franchise
Maybe he's gonna get [sp]stabbed in the chest by his son[/sp] like in Star Wars 7?

mite b cool
i like to imagine tim burton is just cashing in on the superhero hype with his own x men
[editline]16th March 2016[/editline]
with that said it's probably going to be an underwhelming movie with a bunch of cool designs and a horrible fanbase like pretty much everything else he makes
I love Eva Green but really dislike Tim Burton.
I'm seriously conflicted.
(the worst one)
I'll be honest. It would look fucking dope if it weren't a remake.
And wouldn't have Morgan Freeman.
And the trailer that gives away everything.
Despite the fact that everyone saw the original that is superior in every way.
If not for these things I'd be looking forward to it.
