i really couldnt care less about the games or a movie about them, but the director has a really good (and odd) track record (snowtown, macbeth)
That and Fassbender is one of the best actors working right now, and Cotillard is really good too, so at the very least, its gonna be well directed and acted Basically if the movie turns out to be garbage then it proves that video games will never be able to be adapted
videogames can never be adapted because gamers are whiny nerds who want super faithful adaptations like first person angles and characters pulling out ingame macguffin weapons/items that only make sense in a story thats designed around gameplay
Thank god it's sarcasm. The reason why most videogame movies suck is because they try to be 1:1 adaptions of games and its stories instead of telling original stories within the game's universe, while expanding on its lore and offering new background things for fans. Wreck it Ralph is an original story that uses the premise of simple slot machine games as the basics, which is why it works so well. You can't make a movie about Half Life with Freeman as the protagonist, because it only works within the games. Instead it should focus on a group of citizens during the 7-Hour war, for example. Also, the AC trailer looks kinda good actually. Minus the music of course.
The new horror movie from Adam Wingaard (You're Next, The Guest)
god damn it The Blair Witch Project already made me scared of the woods, i'm never gonna be able to go near them at this rate

They'll take designs and character names and whatever else but they'll slap them all together. For instance, the Resident Evil games for the most part play out as mysteries and the action/horror gradually increases as the game progresses. The movies, then, just make it a ridiculous over-the-top action film with their unstoppable Mary Sue- Milla Jovovich's Alice. Similarly, Hitman games aren't about dual wielding action hero madness, it's more of a spy thriller than the super soldier action hero the movies make it out to be. Silent Hill, for the most part, is one the most faithful of video game movies because it draws inspiration from the games and creates its own story but doesn't forget the tone of the games it is based on, either. It's difficult, even, to make a satisfying video game movie depending on the source material; because often times, there are things that have to be changed because of the medium. Take for example, DOOM. The games have a very basic premise and little story (save for the third game). The movie, for the sake of all audiences, have to implement an actual plot and characters. The result was a B-movie style action film of Marines vs. Monsters (with nothing resembling Hell or anything else). In short, the Assassin's Creed movie has potential because for one Ubisoft itself is attached to the film, it takes inspiration from the games while expanding its own story (which is still part of the AC universe, apparently), and from the look of things they have got out of their way to make the Spanish Inquisition fairly genuine.

Deeply buried in the article, Kevin Hart is mentioned to have joined as well [editline]12th May 2016[/editline] Also, in case anyone didn't know, they've begun filming for the Trainspotting sequel.
Kevin Hart and Dwayne Johnson were the first announced stars of Jumanji a few weeks ago.
Wait so....Kevin Hart, The Rock, and Jack Black. This can either be amazing or horrible.
Kevin Hart and Dwayne Johnson were the first announced stars of Jumanji a few weeks ago.
Must've missed him then, the only one I remembered hearing about was Johnson.

The Nice Guys trailer gave me huge Kiss Kiss Bang Bang vibes (which is one of my favourite movies; it's so fucking good), and only just now did I learn it's the same director. Scooooore!
Ben Affleck and DC are having a huge fling now.
Ben Affleck and DC are having a huge fling now.
would've been a better trailer if they didn't use the ending line twice

Ocean's 11 is getting another reboot, and they may have already found their Danny Ocean: two time Oscar winner and woman who JJ Abrams and Harrison Ford didn't recognize, everybody's favorite J Law!!!!!! But seriously, why? The Clooney film was perfect, it doesn't need a remake.
Just read the script for the now cancelled sequel to Chronicle, Martyr, wow it's a great way to continue it instead of just doing the same fucking movie again
Just read the script for the now cancelled sequel to Chronicle, Martyr, wow it's a great way to continue it instead of just doing the same fucking movie again
Woah. How did you do that?
we're getting the neon demon an entire month before everyone else? nice, italy has been cheated out of release dates lately
only fair since it seems like it'll be a love letter to a genre of italian cinema

The Gunslinger has been spotted
Just read the script for the now cancelled sequel to Chronicle, Martyr, wow it's a great way to continue it instead of just doing the same fucking movie again
martyr is extremely good, it sounds like a ton of his ideas from that script are going into one of his new scripts, Higher (which seems to have a way better chance of being made, after Deeper and Bright got sold)
martyr is extremely good, it sounds like a ton of his ideas from that script are going into one of his new scripts, Higher (which seems to have a way better chance of being made, after Deeper and Bright got sold)
martyr starts off good, and then falls to shit after the first half hour. the ending is awful.
So, after Trank's meltdown, he couldn't possibly touch the sequel right?
So, after Trank's meltdown, he couldn't possibly touch the sequel right?
he won't be able to touch anything, realistically. the man essentially flushed his career down the toilet with that outburst. that script still needs major work before it becomes something decent.
