One of the best polish-speaking sci-fi you'll find, one of the best made on this side of Iron Curtain, film way ahead of its time. I'm glad that nowadays I hear about it more frequently and people are not discouraged with Żuławski's style and themes.
Good to hear that from you. Probably one of my top scifi films of all time. Really can't find finds like that often and one of the few films where a ton of it stuck in my head long after seeing it. Shame it is like impossible to find it here in the States and even rarer a subtitled version.

There was a talk about including Żuławski's works in Criterion Collection, especially after his death few months ago, but I'm not sure if this is still on the table.
As a follow-up I can recommend you Szulkin's apocalypse quadrilogy: Golem, The War of the Worlds, O-bi. O-Ba. The End of Civilization and Ga Ga. Glory to the Heroes (they had a UK DVD premiere so I guess they should be subbed), which along with On the Silver Globe are the only true sci-fi Polish films. To me it was interesting to see how these films tried to imitate western culture but because of communism and censorship the result was rather eclectic - you can easily see inspirations from classical science-fiction works remade for eastern standards and political situation, while Żuławski tried to do something else entirely (seeing how the regime halted the expensive production and he was able to make reshoots after 11 years).

Thanks, need to expand the amount of Polish films I've seen.

If non sci-fi Polish cinema is in your interest, then entire filmography of Kieślowski is a must. Also early Wajda with special recommendation of The Promised Land, Man of Marble/Iron, and War Trilogy. These are obvious choices that you've probably watched, same with Polański and Holland.
Wojciech Jerzy Has is great for his magical realism in Hourglass Sanatory and spectacular editing in Saragossa Manuscript, Andrzej Munk for his ironic view on morality and reshaping the European cinema, Jerzy Kawalerowicz for historical epics. Go for Krzysztof Zanussi and Krzysztof Krazue if you're looking for more intelectual dramas.
More of the contemporary directors are Wojciech Smarzowski, beloved for his bitter view on Polish society with all its flaws and Marek Koterski, brilliant in his neurotic and grotesque dramedies, though his poetic language will be lost in translation the gags remain, especially in his magnum opus - Day of the Wacko, universally acknowledged around here as one of the best Polish films of this century:

'Kurwa' is not a Russian word, you probably meant 'сука блять'. Please stop appropriating Polish swearing culture, thanks.

I would love for this to be 2002 because i was 12 and wasn't cynical yet.
Bruce Willis, Dean Norris and Vincent D'Onoforio has been cast in the Eli Roth's remake of 1974's Death Wish
I don't know why but I feel oddly optimistic about this. Eli Roth will probably fuck it up somehow.
probably because it doesn't need to be remade, and you can't beat charles bronson.
Also why are they making the main character a former cop imo it ruins the whole amateurish vigilante killing of the original.
Cause Bruce Willis
Cause Bruce Willis
I need to see him in a film with Morgan Freeman as two washed up actors who stopped giving a fuck, that gave up on their lives and will even suck dick on camera for money.
You can call it "Bruce & Morgan"
I really don't think that The Dark Knight is overrated. It has a few slight flaws, but if you honestly walked away from that movie thinking about nothing but the flaws, you really need to stop being a nitpicking critic.
so it's okay when nolan does it, but when anyone else does it it's shit?
nah. the dark knight is incredibly flawed. well shot and acted, but that's about it. it's highly overrated, and not even a good batman movie. a good standalone movie and all that on its own, but hardly batman.
the nolan films only work because its entirely standalone and tries to convey that "what if batman were real" idea.
unfortunately, in doing so they basically tossed out half of the character.
but to say it's not overrated and has only a few flaws is just plain wrong.
unfortunately, in doing so they basically tossed out half of the character.
Which character, Bruce Wayne or Batman? If the first, Nolan's films were the first time we got actual characterization for someone that was just billionaire with mommy/daddy issues. If the latter, it's hard to argue that actual Batman has that much of a character that can be botched. Batman is pro-republican vigilante with trust issues who believes he's the only one with the license for justice and the films pretty much give us that.
The only element you can consider out of character is Rachel Dawes, but seeing as she served to advance Bruce's character I really don't mind. She paid off amazingly in TDK.
No hope for this one. I barely even like the original American movie, let alone the sequel.
I liked the American remake and this doesn't look that great.

How does it feel it be wrong.
