They tend to have a lot of detail, but I wouldn't say they happen a lot. There was maybe one scene in the first half of Season 4 that was really gruesome, the rest were just normal.
So yes just not often.

I'm going to watch this starting season 1 with my girlfriend as our next show to watch together. I'm already up to date on it but she's never seen it before apart from yesterday when we watched ep 1. The whole mood of ep 1 was so different to how it is now, so creepy and isolated, like 28 days later. And damn Carl is so much younger. I can't imagine what it would be like as an actor while going through puberty.

Anyway, personally I hope it's Carl. I fucking hate his face since his first appearance, seriously (which could also result in another hilarious "oh-no" by Rick).
I really don't want to see Carl die this early, but it's entirely plausible he does in the next 8 episodes. His death would probably set Rick on a character development path that would be entertaining to see though.
No I've had enough screamy sad Rick for now.
If they're killing off a character who hasn't died in the comics it's probably because their actor wants to leave.
The most likely one would be Carl. Who's just started Highschool and probably doesn't want to be held down by the show for the next however many years.

Carl could be annoying and made some mistakes, but he's a kid, it's what kids do.

I've always been a David Morrissey, and I know that despite the character running his course, the producers and writers would have loved keeping him on as The Governor. Why not make a 'Rise of The Governor' series?

Totally agreed, Carl is pretty amazing in the comics. Plus I can tell the actor is starting to fill in his shoes pretty nicely.

I think its more of season 4, at least what there is of it so far dragged.
I mean it had a great midseason finale, but the lead up to it was dreadfully slow.
Infact thats a bad habit WD needs to break, Good episodes broken up by boring, slow fillerish episodes.
As someone who didn't like the show Governer, I thought the Gov. dedicated episodes were fantastic. Great acting by David.
