I really liked the episode, it was great character development for the two. Made me like Beth even more, instead of just being a background main character, she actually seems to have a voice now. Also it seems like the group won't come back together until the finale [editline]3rd March 2014[/editline] we still havent met this guy either [thumb]http://i.imgur.com/PY1ZvXc.jpg[/thumb] Who is suppose to play an important, non-comic character in the second half of this season. (Though he is suppose to be a mix of some characters or something) Any thoughts? Oh an according to some guy who worked on fires in the forest. Smoke from fires settle into fog which could lead to the next preview.
so people are inevitably going to say that this was the worst episode ever, and how boring it was but I just want to say that it was a good episode. it brought some much needed character development to two heavily neglected characters, and although it didn't play out like I expected (Daryl dying), I'm okay with it since now I have a higher respect for him and I'll care more when it actually does happen
they're neglected for a reason because they're uninteresting and they still are. it was 45 minutes of uninteresting exposition on two boring characters that didn't deserve the screen time. you could have just had the one scene where daryl cries and we would have got the same message. [editline]3rd March 2014[/editline]
character development = filler ye like the entire point of the episode was lost on you if you thought it was filler.
what they tried to do =/= what they did it was ham fisted and boring. daryl was better when he was in an ensamble kicking ass. on his lonesome, he's as interesting as a plank. all they revealed about him is that he never had a job, and is sad inside he couldn't help people more. not very big revelations, definitely not ones that needed an entire episode, given how fucking boring these two characters are. [editline]3rd March 2014[/editline] just because they TRIED to have deep and interesting character development, doesn't mean it was any good. [editline]3rd March 2014[/editline] seriously the whole episode i had to suspend my disbelief and try to accept this world where whats her face WOULDN'T be trying to fuck daryl. heck, I thought her whole reason for getting the booze would turn out to be to get daryl drunk, play drinking games, say shit like 'i've never gotten drunk and did something i regretted', and segway into fucking. seriously. in a show with more balls, that's what would have happened.
I'll agree with Rusty on this one, it wasn't the best episode, the character development was good to see a little bit more of their background but jesus, 45 minutes just for that and an alcohol crave? It really felt like a filler, Daryl and Beth aren't interesting, it should of showcased the other survivors that episode because half of that shit wasn't really essential Just my 2c
That was terrible.
Terrible episode, this show is really going downhill again. Yeah, this was supposed to be a drama episode. Doesn't help that the writing is shit, the symbolism is painfully obvious, the characters are boring, have no chemistry whatsoever and do really dumb things just to forward the plot. I watch this because it's a drama show in the zombie apocalypse. When the drama is shit, it's just like any other mindless zombie movie but with lengthy drawn out sequences of boring.
I don't know, I think it wasn't that bad but the episode could had more balls. [sp]At few moments I was feeling it could lead to sex between them but it ended with the usual TWD speeches. Which drawn out into an entire episode aren't very entertaining. I was seriously expecting the end sequence to turn into the gas station from Zoolander.[/sp] Also maybe this is just me but if I found a clothing store I would change all my old ones that I wore and sweat in for days.
It would have been better if it switched around with the other characters every now and again For an episode entirely dedicated to 2 characters they really didn't do much with the time they had
I read the spoilers for the newest episode in advance and honestly it sounded really uninteresting and bad. I haven't watched the episode yet, is it worth it? Does anything happen other than talking? I usually stay up and watch the newest episode live but this one just didn't interest me...
That episode sorta left a sour taste in my mouth. It felt like they let a fanfic writer write the script. There were a few good parts, but it all just felt so out out place.
I don't usually agree with Rusty but he's right 100% on this, and I really don't get the circlejerkers who are screaming 'but hurr character development'. There was enough content in this episode for maybe a 10 minute webisode, but not a 40 minute one. Character development is fine when the characters are actually 3-Dimensional, but all Beth has going for her is 'annoying teenage girl' and Daryl is just 'bad-ass survivor with a bad childhood'. The Walking Dead has been going consistently downhill since the first season. The only way I see of them redeeming it now would be to cut each episode down to an hour and have 5-6 episodes per season. They're just dragging it out now and stretching the budget as thin as possible - and its showing. Episode was rather uneventful, so my prediction from last week's preview were right. I hate being right. I did laugh pretty hard when Daryl basically drove the zombies fucking face off with a golf club all over Beth.
i was hoping that at the end [sp]when daryl is holding his middle finger up, a walker would show up out of nowhere (he wouldn't hear it because of the fire crackling) and bite him. not because i want daryl to die (he's certainly more interesting than beth) but because it'd be a brave thing for them to do.[/sp]
This episode was probably the single best character episode for Daryl, so now it's even more likely that [sp]they'll kill him off for hightened drama. i'm crossing my fingers it happens so they go out at somewhat of a high point[/sp] [editline]3rd March 2014[/editline]
I don't usually agree with Rusty but he's right 100% on this, and I really don't get the circlejerkers who are screaming 'but hurr character development'. Everyone who said the episode sucked got dumbs/disagrees Rusty says the episode sucked, get tons of agrees Now everyone who says the episode sucked gets agrees
Everyone who said the episode sucked got dumbs/disagrees Rusty says the episode sucked, get tons of agrees Now everyone who says the episode sucked gets agrees
thats what internet forums with upvotes/ratings are like bruh. i thought the episode was real good, slow at times though. there are too many "BOO, IT'S A ZAMBIE" bits that are utterly pointless in recent episodes. I thought Beth and Daryl playing i have never was great though.
Everyone who said the episode sucked got dumbs/disagrees Rusty says the episode sucked, get tons of agrees Now everyone who says the episode sucked gets agrees
I hated this episode before it was cool to hate it
Was I supposed to get emotional? The crying scenes are silly in this show. Daryl's and Beth's char-development could have been shown in 10 minutes. Definitely didn't need a full episode. Boring. "If you didn't like this episode, you're not a true TWD fan." No, I just like high quality TV shows and this episode was weak and unnecessary. I felt like I was watching a late-season HIMYM episode.
I kind of liked this episode, and I'm foreseeing some [sp]action between Daryl and Beth. If not, then at least Daryl and Rick. Now that would be the ballsy choice. But seriously though, what about Carol and Daryl? Didn't Rick make a huge point in breaking it to Daryl that he had to banish Carol for burning Tyreese's girlfriend? There could easily be some hookup scene with Daryl and Beth only to make it awkward later on, although it would probably be cliche.[/sp] The point of the episode wasn't just developing characters for no reason, it all starts to come together when all of the survivors meet up again. Also, there's a lot of shitflinging about characters being poorly developed, like T-Dog and of course the horde of filler characters who hardly even exist. What harm could it do to solidify two characters who've been in the show for three seasons? But really though, some of the lines were written so poorly [sp]("No, I mean a real drink, like alcohol!")[/sp]; it seems like all of the younger characters have the shittiest lines, Carl especially. However, I think the worst part about the episode was the complete lack of tension. The grandfather clock could have been used to a better degree, and the trunk scene easily could have been better in terms of suspense. It's what made the episode before it so kickass, there was tension all around and I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. It was way too one-sided on emotional investment and since the zombies aren't a threat, why not include some people? "Nebraska" is a good example of an episode that had a great mix of both. It just seems like they were capitalizing way too hard on the "last two people on Earth" type of episode and it didn't work out especially well. Now we know more about Daryl, that he was actually a total loser in real life and Beth is still a young farmer's daughter who's following a loss-of-innocence path, which again could come into play. If the only reason they have Daryl and Beth together is to subvert the "now they have to fuck" then it's pretty much useless. If nothing at ALL comes from it, if nothing more develops from it, then this truly was a useless episode. I wouldn't go so far as to call it absolutely fucking horrible and unredeemable but it was definitely flawed, although I'd be lying if I said that I wasn't at least entertained.
Didn't care much for the new episode, some character development is good I guess. Even better if it sets Daryl up for a fall. BUT
[sp]I thought he was going to break one of the bottles lying around him to use it as a makeshift dagger and stab it in the head. I mean that's what I would have done in that situation. Makes more sense than trying to push it around with your hand.[/sp] Like this
I CALLED THAT BETH SCENE FOUR MONTHS AGO [editline]3rd March 2014[/editline] TWD writers are reading this thread and using my ideas :tinfoil:
At first i thought they were [sp]T-Dogging[/sp] Daryl so he could be [sp]T-Dogged[/sp] and no one would care. Now i don't think they'll [sp]T-Dog[/sp] him any time soon. That must have been a really bad episode for Daryl fandom haters.
bob
Welcome to Silent Hill
I hope Bob lives long enough to take over the role of main character when the show kills everyone else off next episode.
cool character development episode = governer ep awful character development episide = durl and girl
well that was filler alright kind of a waste for some great char dev, with the little bits that we did get and then all thrown away by that ending ah hell, we all still watch it anyway
Well [sp] Hershel had a HUGE episode for his character, and then he died. Now Daryl had an attempt at a huge episode for his character. [/sp] So maybe/ hopefully next week he'll finally ge- who am I kidding. He's going to be around until the end of this because of his popularity.
I hope Bob lives long enough to take over the role of main character when the show kills everyone else off next episode.
Bob's honestly one of my favourite characters
What a useless episode.. Like this one really takes the cake. Also this series has a serious inability to follow multiple plot-lines in the same episode, entire episodes dedicated to some bullshit, and now this.
I feel like I'm the only one that liked this episode.
I feel like I'm the only one that liked this episode.
It wasn't that bad it was just completely useless, you could watch the entire season without this episode and it would be exactly the same
