i've finally started reading the comics, i've only just finished issue 6 but holy shiiiiiiit i can't stop reading, it's different enough from the show to be exciting and new yet it's similar enough to be familiar and understandable

wait till you get to the prison volumes, you'll constantly ask yourself "what were they thinking" in regards to the show's adaptation

A lot of the comic stuff happens in the show but a lot of the time with different characters, but also a lot of stuff doesn't/wont happen so you might be ok.

the show isn't following the comics 100%
for example (don't worry, you can read it), [sp]dale and andrea are dead, beth, carol and tyreese are still alive, lori's death was changed, shane lived longer in the show than in the comics, hershel's death in the show was tyreese's death in the comics, the CDC subplot never happened, the vatos gang were only in the show, the dixon brothers weren't in the comics, the list goes on.[/sp]
while the show is apparently getting closer to the comics there will still be changes, so you-know-who might not necessarily die at that point in the show as they did in the comics.
