the thing with carol and daryl is they're both hardened survivors. they know what to do and what not to do, so they keep things short, simple and quiet.
it may seem odd for this episode to have happened when in comparison to the rest of the season so far but i thought it was a great break from your typical "AHH ZOMBIES SHOOT THEM" followed by a lot of CRASH BANG BOOM stuff, a good break in pace imo.
anyways, only two episodes left before we all go replay the telltale games and cry our eyes out over making different choices.
I think everyone is pissed that this last episode didn't contain enough hard action.
Remember that all shows need time to develop characters. Seeing [sp]Daryl's childhood abuse book[/sp] and [/sp]learning more about Carols feelings when it came to Ed and her transformation[/sp] puts some reality into the series. I also loved [sp]Seeing the inside of some of the buildings in Atlanta, how other people survived. The atmosphere was perfect the entire time. Probably the last time we'll see a city of that magnitude in such detail.[/sp]
Also does anyone have the picture of the [sp]Night time atlanta shot? That was an amazing parallel to the first season[/sp]

Eh thats a click bait article though.

doesnt make it less right
I kind of realized too that this entire season is pretty much entirely focused on hunting. First, the literal [sp] Hunters attacked the group. Now the group is hunting whoever took beth.[/sp]
Kinda neat, intentional or not
^fully intentional

This needs to stop being said to undermine criticisms with certain episodes.
I didn't awfully mind that episode, but its faults do not have anything to do with no hard action.

so what were the faults of this latest episode?
I would've thought that those walkers would've broken out of that tent by now.
There was one bad shot in the van, I'll give you that one. It really shouldn't have landed on its wheels. But it didn't ruin the episode for me.
The interaction with Daryl and Carol was interesting. A lot of scenes didn't serve to move the story forward, but so what? Give the show time to breathe! The episode told the story it had to tell and had exclusively two of arguably the best characters on the show who have great chemistry together. If you don't like these characters I could see why the episode wouldn't be that interesting to you, but I really enjoyed it.
The flashbacks after each commercial break weren't awkward at all? It happened last week with Abraham and they worked well then. Why not now?
Also, not to start a fight or anything, but what's wrong with my taste in TV? I only really watch four shows: Game of Thrones, Breaking Bad, The Walking Dead and American Horror Story as a guilty pleasure.

I know. You don't even realize how much you miss him.
can we please get 5 more flashbacks of carol being a self sufficient pyromaniac? because we didn't get it the first time, and it is definitely not droning

seriously? all of this was blatantly obvious. aside from a lost reference you would have to be braindead to not have noticed this immediately because the show hit you over the head with them
and none of it makes this terrible episode any better. they were all part of the problem. terrible, obvious, and boring scriptwriting.
I used to think Rusty was cynical bastard who nitpicked every little thing he could, I think it was back when he saw Dexter going to shit before I wanted to believe it was.
He's right here, I really dig TWD and this season has been pretty great so far, but that episode was pretty awful. Character development is fine, but that episode was the definition of a filler episode.
the point of the episode is [sp]to show how carol ended up in the hospital and who daryl returned with from the hospital (obviously noah).[/sp]

Well no shit but it took an inordinate amount of nothing to get to that point.
It would work much better if they did multiple story lines an episode. As is it feels like the episode drags. They could have cut plenty of footage and still gotten the main points across. I don't mind down time in a show like this, and I love character development, but that episode was boring.

Maybe they haven't had a reason to try?
Walkers usually just lie there until something makes them go after it.

See, I was thinking about this after watching the recent episode, then realised for the most part, it just wouldn't work. Maybe with the last two episodes, splicing bits here and there could have made one great episode, but otherwise with the show, it would create episodes were even less happens, and draw stories out even longer.
I didn't mind this episode, it wasn't an all time great, but the show has certainly struggled through worse.
it was a really enjoyable episode, it was just a shame that [sp]nothing really happened[/sp]

why is nothing happening so enjoyable
I'll be really suprised if TWD ever makes an episode that Rusty enjoys

Well for arguments sake, I could go to a comedy show, in essence, nothing happens, I don't leave feeling enlightened on any issues, or have some profound knowledge or great story gained from it, but I laughed for 90 minutes. Nothing happened, yet it was still enjoyable.
Same applies, we didn't get much out of this, we know what character ends up where, but it doesn't mean people can't enjoy the ride whilst it lasts.

are you in a crusade to make everyone think like you?
It's hard to describe why it was enjoyable, they just did a good portrayal of characters experiencing a destroyed city. Gotta say it was probably my favourite of the season, although putting it into words why is stumping me
I know this doesn't go for everyone but I am sucker for post apocalyptic atmosphere. That is the main thing I love form last week's episode, [sp]not just seeing the city but actually moving around in it was awesome.[/sp]

It showed [sp] Two friends who still haven't had time to talk, and show their relationship and how they play off each other, and care for each other.
They're both dealing with issues, and they feel like they can talk about it with each other still.
Also, it showed how lonely Carol was, and that she still cares about everyone, she just can't handle the pain of loss.
And it reveals how she got to the hospital and who (though obvious) came with Daryl.
Honestly, the abraham group episode would have not been as good as the rest of the season if they didn't reveal his lie.
This episode could be the same, but their whole point to this episode was to reveal Carol's journey + how she got to the hospital, and who's with Daryl.
Kirkman said there is a reason we're popping back in to previous locations, so I guess it's just a waiting game.
I'm still really enjoying this season, Gimple is doing an amazing job as show runner. [/sp]
Don't even try to argue. His opinion won't change.
this episode was better than Slabtown but worse than [sp]the Hunters arc[/sp] in terms of overall quality for me i suppose
the character development was very necessary and it was pretty enjoyable, a filler episode serves no purpose, the purpose of this episode was to develop the [sp]Beth rescue arc[/sp] and [sp]the relationship between Daryl and Carol[/sp], therefore, it was not a filler episode.
though some of the dialogue between [sp]Daryl and Carol[/sp] did confuse me
am i right in saying it was about [sp]Carol not fitting in with the group, her past and how Daryl should go with her?[/sp]
loved the atmosphere of [sp]Atlanta[/sp] and the [sp]night driving scene[/sp]
The only thing I hate about this season is that I get so sucked into the episodes, and then have to wait another week for the next.
The only thing I hate about this season is that I get so sucked into the episodes, and then have to wait another week for the next.
and then after the mid season finale we have to wait for February!
I agree that the last episode was a filler. And it was so boring I nearly fell asleep. [sp]Carol's journey could've been shown in a single conversation.[/sp] TWD keeps wasting whole episodes on stuff, that better TV shows wrap up in 10 minutes. Not to mention they're trying way too hard to force the "feelings game".
