I watched a marathon of season 2 and 3 on AMC in the summer.
There were too many moments where I felt myself questioning the characters and plot. Like, moments where someone is being a complete idiot for no reason or some ridiculous element comes into play.
Notable moments include:
- A zombie suddenly appearing out of nowhere in the middle of a moonlit field and killing the old guy in season 2
- The other old guy standing completely still and firing a shotgun for 10 minutes (without ever reloading) walks to a getaway car and survives, but some chick gets swiped by a zombie (while running) and immediately falls to the ground and gets swarmed
- Merle, the guy with a SWORD for a HAND, losing a FISTFIGHT in season 3. Then, before that, him shooting at the Governer and some random idiot walking in and blocking the shot
- The propensity of zombies to suddenly break established behavior or do something impossible
Is the major appeal of this show being able to make fun of all that? Or am I completely missing the point?
That zombie didn't come out of nowhere. It was actually a pretty crucial plot point of that episode and an even bigger character development point for carl.
Everything else you said is valid though. The show's major appeal is that its...fun. Not funny, not extremely serious and not deeply written. Its just a fun zombie show.
Well to be honest disneyland WOULD be a cool hiding spot.
this ain't abc son
let's be realistic, they'd probably be hiding in knott's berry farm or some shit like that
Hey a new black guy, i hope he lasts longer than one season
you gotta remember, there are hardly any black people in atlanta (only 52% (38% white))

To be fair, there hasn't exactly been a shortage of black people on the show. I don't think it's something they even think about that much.
oh hey another daryl this time with motorcycle

Just found out that[sp]The Governor[/sp]is returning for Season 4. After Season 3, it nearly killed my interest in it, I am hoping that Season 4 can fix it.
My interest in s4 is falling fast, it looks like lots more prison, and more of the governor.
IMO the Governor made season 3, Morrissey was fantastic
i stopped watching s3 a little over halfway through the season
I don't know why everyone is so eager for them to immediately leap all the way into the DC arc. Going by the comics it's about 50 issues away.
I'm just hoping that like some shows, that pre-season trailer is only made up of clips from the first few episodes or so. Some shows have done that in the past... You expect the entire season is all going to be about one thing (as per the teaser), but it relatively quickly covers all of that and moves on to bigger things.
Seen it a lot before, hope that's the case here.

because the show has been moving along at a snails pace, and it doesn't seem like by how the show is pacing they'll even bother doing covering the long ass trip to DC.

Didn't the trailer for s3 [sp]show a quick glimpse of merle zombie, I remember seeing an image of him before the episode aired.[/sp]
That was pretty late in the season.

I don't think the trailer showed it because the photo didnt get leaked till like a week or two before the episode aired.

So... the show has been slow moving... therefore the show won't be slow moving
flawless logic
herschel's from s2 son

well she's certainly more enjoyable than the comic carol
but she serves no purpose other than apparently giving daryl boners

uhh
well if the show is moving slow, most people would want the show to hurry up and get to the good bits.
I dont understand how you didn't understand that?
well she's certainly more enjoyable than the comic carol

She's too old for Daryl.
I mean really

So you're basically saying that you think that some of the viewers are impatient so therefore the writers will cater to them?
Because I can see that happening too.
Just got hardcover book #9 the other day and read issue #100. I am sad now.

I wish I could say it gets better but it really doesn't
It gets better quality-wise, but it gets ten times worse for Rick and Andrea.
And everyone else, for that matter.
Yeah that's what I meant
Sorry, that post came out a little bit wrong
The new antagonist, [sp]Negan[/sp] (just a name not really a spoiler) is awesome

(Yes I'm aware of my derp face. He rose the finger seriously just as the picture was taken and only moments before I burst into laughter.)
that should be his wax dummy
Season 3 is now on Netflix US, I'm going to give it a rewatch before season 4 starts.
I'm also now caught up on the comics, which I'm really enjoying now.
