I realized that function too late
its hardly the games fault, then.
The "____ will remember that" was IMO a terrible design decision for the game. I feel that without it the story would unfold more naturally and would surprise you more often when your previous choices are mentioned, but currently it most just feels like a spoiler that tells you "you now know that these specific words you said will be referenced later in the game". It kills the magic by telling you exactly what will and what will not come back to bite you in the ass
It really didn't matter because all it changed in the game was when an event takes place later, the person just says "but remember when you ____?" and then the story reverts back what always happens in the game.

I was thinking "I didn't let Clementine go to the bathroom that one time, so she's going to kill me later"
I'm rewatching the series right now, about halfway through season 2. One thing I've noticed so far is that the practical effects in this show are pretty goddamn good, but the CGI stuff is preeeeeetty shit. Mostly the blood splurt effects, and some of the walkers. Like, in season 2 there's that one walker, [sp]the one that had its head halfway severed that Glenn took out with that axe[/sp] and it looked so fake and awful. Meanwhile some of the gore like [sp]the walker's flesh getting peeled off as it tried to kill Lorie when she was in the car[/sp] looks really good. I wish they'd stick with that practical stuff and not do any of the CGI.
Now they are just lazy so they rather use CGI.
I realized that function too late Yeah, but I felt that just ruined the story letting you know your decisions had consequences.
Spoiler: Your decisions in real life also have consequences. Did I just ruin your life?
I thought this was the whole idea behind the game?
You're getting the wrong impression, I probably phrased that wrong... it ruined the story revealing that your previous decisions had consequences. It ruined the surprise and the story unfolding naturally, by telling you instantly when you made something that will be referenced later. It changed the feeling of "oh so that minor choice did have consequences" to "oh so this is when that previously mentioned detail gets brought up again like the game said it would". I'm not saying this ruined the game for me, it was just a pet peeve really. [sp]What ruined the game for me was how frequently I was only given the illusion of choice for big decisions, or how rarely my choices made any significant impact on the the outcome of the situation. For a game that praises itself for how your actions determine the story, I was disappointed by its lack of replay value.[/sp] [editline]3rd November 2013[/editline] Imagine that if in the movie Sixth Sense [sp]when the kid says he sees the ghosts "Walking around like regular people. They don't see each other. They only see what they want to see. They don't know they're dead." while talking to Bruce Willis, the movie displayed a text in the corner stating "this particular quote is important to the plot". Normally you would not read into this quote on your first time, but now you know for sure that these particular words are foreshadowing something. Now that you know these words are more important than many of the other quotes that has not been marked as important to the plot, you begin putting the pieces together. So when the moment comes that the story finally puts all the pieces together for an awesome reveal, you've instead already finished half the puzzle and already have a good idea of what to expect.[/sp] (I can't believe I'm spoiler tagging the Sixth Sense, what uncultured ass living under a rock doesn't know the plot to this movie)
(I can't believe I'm spoiler tagging the Sixth Sense, what uncultured ass living under a rock doesn't know the plot to this movie)
yeah thanks. Anyway, I get your point.
Rule no.1 of TWD:Don't get attached to characters (they'll die when you least expect it) Rule no.2:Daryl Dixon Rule no.3:Profit!
Rule no.1 of TWD:Don't get attached to characters (they'll die when you least expect it) Rule no.2:Daryl Dixon Rule no.3:Profit!
it should probably look more like rule 1 - everyone is a potential red shirt (and will most likely become so) rule 2 - paid valve references rule 3 - fuck you kirkman
it should probably look more like rule 1 - everyone is a potential red shirt (and will most likely become so) rule 2 - paid valve references rule 3 - fuck you kirkman
Agree
