Considering it's probably likely that the [sp]Governor was the one luring the walkers with the rats. I was completely expecting Rick to find an eyepatch lying around on the ground next to the fence. Would have made for a pretty cool reveal.[/sp]
Why the fuck would he do that? Do you think he just randomly drops eyepatches on the ground like the fucking easter bunny or some shit?

Wouldn't you?
If we're getting cartoony, he should put eyepatches on all the zombies on the fence.

Or two eyepatches, so that they start walking into walls.
Or two eyepatches, so that they start walking into walls.
They're already walking into a wall.
Or two eyepatches, so that they start walking into walls.
They don't really use their eyes. Their eyes are usually so putrefied, there's no way in hell they'd even begin to work. Instead, they use their ears to triangulate the position of "food," as well as their sense of smell.
Comic spoilers: [sp]Abraham demonstrated this by firing a shot in the air, to deliberately gather a herd. . .just to prove a fucking point.[/sp]
there's one odd bit here with carl that i'm not finding satisfying
(comic spoilers, do not read unless caught up) [sp]as you know, the death of lori and the way that rick starts to treat carl like he's an adult has a huge effect on carl, essentially turning him into an asocial sociopath. the kid curses, spits like he owns the place, and feels no form of remorse when killing someone else or a zombie. of course, rick eventually realizes this and tries to set things straight, that carl should be a kid while he can, and grow up when the time is right.[/sp]
now what gets me is
(tv spoilers if you aren't fully caught up from season 3 and onward) [sp]carl is forced to kill lori after she dies giving birth to judith. he went through (or should have) a range of emotions in a bit of season 3 and that didn't last very long as the show decided to focus more on rick hallucinating and the governor governing and all, but here and now in season 4, not more than a few months after said events, he and rick are palling around like it was no big deal. i understand that the two should be growing a tighter bond with each other, but it literally almost feels as if lori didn't even exist.[/sp]
basically, poor writing.
Why the fuck would he do that? Do you think he just randomly drops eyepatches on the ground like the fucking easter bunny or some shit?
There's a massive herd of zombies right in front of you with a small metal fence stoping them. Suddenly, you hear movement in the guard tower where Glenn is supposed to be keeping watch. Oh no he's pulled out a torch, you weren't expecting this.
You make a run for in. In the rush, your eyepatch accidentally falls off.
That, or a thousand other reasons. It doesn't matter.
It's the Walking Dead. The only thing people would be thinking about if that scene happened is "Oh wow, it was the Governor!" Not "Why would he take his eyepatch of it unhygienic lol"
basically, poor writing.
The show's strong suit has never really been character development, which is too bad considering the source material. Even season one was a bit stiff.
A significant amount of time has passed since season 3 though, I guess the new showrunner didn't want to retread over old ground.

[sp]To be fair, I'd like to forget TV show Loris existence as well.[/sp]

It's not a real eyepatch. They don't have them lying around. It was made with a piece of plastic and some elastic. Yes, I think in a tense situation it could fall off pretty easily.
I'm sorry you guys think my theory was stupid. Obviously I should have stuck to the truly realistic laws of physics in the Walking Dead universe.

it's just unnecessary
im sure you can very easily justify why his eyepatch falling off is possible. but it's a retarded way to reveal the governor and achieves nothing more than the current reveal did. and the writers probably wanted to re-introduce the governor before the main cast finds out about him.
and no matter which way you look at it, an eyepatch falling off is still very silly.
[sp]I still don't know how the Governor is still alive after being stabbed in the eye with a piece of glass soaked in zombie water.
That shard was probably big enough to kill anyone normally, but adding where its been to the mix...[/sp]

your theory is literally a prime example of poor writing. Plausibility matters. His eyepatch falling off from having to move at a moments notice, just to advance the plot, is entirely not plausible. In fact it would be ridiculous and I can guarantee you the reception to it would be a lot of people going "this show just jumped the shark, time to switch off".
If we're going to just chuck any realism out the window at all, why doesnt he just leave a note saying
"hey rick, GUESSSS WHOOOOOO"

They could have just showed a bootprint and then played "the pulse" and it would have been enough. Just like this thread, whether the audience is stupid or not, you treat them like they aren't. Your show will last longer that way.
I think Carl and Rick are having some great father, son time this season.
From an interview with some of the walking dead guys regarding all the Daryl fangirls and their threats:
Whenever anyone brings up his near-cult of fanatics, actor Norman Reedus’s go-to response is a laugh and, “I love a good riot.” But earlier this summer, executive producer Robert Kirkman told Comicbook.com that the threats he regularly gets from Daryl die-hards may actually cause more harm than good. “That fan reaction is going to get him killed,” Kirkman said. “I feel like it’s a dare. Like, ‘Oh, really? You’re gonna riot? We’ll see, we’ll see. No one is safe.”
From the same interview, with Norma Reedus:
“There’s certain heavy scenes where Rick and I will be alone, doing something very heavy,” Reedus says. “And I’ll look over at him in the middle of the scene and whisper, ‘I love you.’ And then he’ll look over at me and whisper, ‘Fuck you.’ You know, or vice versa. We’re constantly playing with each other.”
I honestly feel like none of the cast is going to get knocked off anytime soon.
I mean in that last episode [sp]Herschel got knocked over by a zombie and it was on top of him. Meanwhile, some chick pulled it off, the guy who was pointing the gun got his arm bit, he misfired and killed the random girl, and there was another alive person who died or something.
There were so many times Herschel could have bit the dust but didn't. I feel like the TV show has its star cast and plans on keeping it.[/sp]

But if kirkman kills an insanely popular character like daryl off the wrong way, it might end up causing people to stop watching the show.
Since it seems Walking dead is really being milked right now,I can't see daryl dying until the hype dies down.
Anyone got a better gif of this scene

In the history of character storytelling, Kirkman is one of the supreme champions of not giving a single fuck who he kills or when he kills them. We have nothing to worry about. Daryl, while I like him, isn't going to have Bioware-esque plot armor.
um, theyre not going to give up the revenue they make from daryl merchandise and clothing. are you kidding? hes gonna live to the end of the whole show.

killing Daryl would probably be the single best thing they could do in the show right now, but because of that you know it's not going to happen.
it's a real shame. i do love Daryl, but he's gotta go.
i can almost guarantee it wont happen and it would kill the show if it did (so if they do, they are dumb)
Killing Daryl would be the worst for the show. This isnt Game of Thrones where they can kill of main characters willy nilly.

If they kill Daryl,im gonna shotgun every godda*n producer in there.
They could kill Carl if someone has to die.
