Star Wars Megathread Episode IV: A New Thread: UNTAGGED SPOILERS? 1 WEEK BAN

They also said they're working on a Live Action TV series, but there is zero info on it.
Sure the franchise is being milked but if Disney are throwing a new trilogy at Rian Johnson it means they're very happy with The Last Jedi. If they're pumping out GOOD films, then I'll reserve my judgement for later.
I finally understand the people who keep posting the same fucking RLM jokes.
Calm the fuck down Disney.
It's clear to me that the mysterious new Star Wars movie trilogy will be about the real Old Republic and revolve around the character of Darth Re ...
Oh, who the fuck am I kidding
Okay, milking sucks and all.
But if The Last Jedi is good, I can't care less for Abrams on Ep 9, this is what I'm gonna give a shit about.

Rian loves a lot of the EU and likes the prequels, I wouldn't be surprised
As much as I see it, the three Star Wars trilogies are, in some weird way, a huge trilogy of each Skywalker generation.
With the new trilogy, it may upstart a new story that could potentially last til 2040 or so.
I think the prevailing theory is that Anakin Skywalker was sired by the Force itself, as a result of Darth Plagueis' attempting to create life from pure darkside energy. Going from this, you could say that the history of the Sith could be seen as a prequel to the story of Anakin Skywalker. Since the Sith are more or less confirmed to no longer exist post ROTJ, the only logical direction to go is back to the Old Republic times.

Didn't they say at some point that they planned on releasing a new Star Wars film every year until the end of time anyway?

I mean that's all just non canon from the Plagueis book now.

No.
The Sith order from The Old Republic (as in, KotoR and all the related materials from that) era had no other goal in mind than enacting its revenge on the Republic and the Jedi Order for defeating them in the Great Hyperspace War and putting their Empire's golden age and expansion to an halt. Aside from that, the old order wanted to dominate the Galaxy, increase its power and basically screw themselves over it.
It's telling that Palpatine's scheme in the prequel trilogy actually works because apparently the Jedi Order is to dumb to realize that not only the Sith want power, but they also want to whipe out the Jedi.
Darth Plagueis experiments with the Force and living matters were something akin to the old discipline known as Sith alchemy, and he was very adept at it, to the point of being canonically described post-Legends as something akin to a lich, and dedicated his life to them. That said, most of the Sith of old were adept in Sith alchemy, but they saw just as another mean to power, and certainly didn't build their own career and life around it
So I'm watching this show called "Mark Hamill's Pop Culture Quest", and it's pretty good!
The thing is, without the Mark Hamill's likability, there's not much of a point in watching the show, and when I realized this, a thought popped in my head: "imagine if some sex scandal surrounding Hamill would surface, like it did recently with Spacey and Louis C.K" - and my heart fucking dropped - now I get why a lot of people are upset about these revelations.
I'm not implying there might be a story, of course, just sharing my thoughts on the matter

Regarding Rebels, I vastly preferred Hera when she was still just one hell of a good pilot instead of the current invincible ace rebel hero (being able to hold her own against Rukh in close quarters combat in the last episode being a good example).
It also doesn't help that we already know from Rogue One that she'll survive the events of the series, so there aren't any stakes concerning her whatsoever.
It seems like nowadays Star Wars has some kind of fetish for boring "empowering" female lead characters, but let's not open that particular can of worms, shall we
Seriously, Luke's VA isn't even TRYING to sound like him

I've not watched the entire thing but what the small amount i watched at various points...it's as bad as i expected. It should have been pretty obvious that they wouldn't have [sp] gone for a story where you play as the Empire and don't defect at some point. Showing the motivations of someone and why they'd follow the Empire/First Order despite those bad things was something i knew they wouldn't have the tenacity to stick with [/sp]. It's such a shame as they had a chance to go for a unique storyline that is pretty unheard of with Star Wars, instead we get a generic by-the-numbers predictable storyline. What's basically [sp] "I was on the evil side all along?! Guess i better change side now!"[/sp] is just absurd, even more so considering they were [sp]Elite special forces who should already know what the Empire is like before that[/sp].
Battlefront 2 spoilers in these videos, obv
Also a 'The Last Jedi' spoiler related to Battlefront 2 [sp]the compass Luke retrieves on Pillio has been spotted on TLJ merchandise[/sp]

Has anyone else red "From a certain point of view" book? If so [sp]wtf is up with emperor palpatines rapping chapter?
I can now just imagen him wandering around the imperial palace delusionally rapping for himself about how cool he and the empire is, I think I just lost the ability to take him seriously.[/sp]

It's not rap, it's Shakespeare... He's an art buff so just imagine he's doing this in his head because he feels like being a pompous bastard.

That part's written by the guy who does the William Shakespeare's Star Wars books. A couple of the sections in FACPOV are obviously done just for fun.
What a fucking letdown that campaign is.
[sp]What happened to the "HOPE CANNOT SAVE THEM!" Iden we got from the trailers? We were led to believe Iden would stick with the Empire and be instrumental in the First Order's establishment (anybody remember "I've waited 30 years for this..."?), which would honestly be a super compelling plot; we haven't had anything really focusing on the die-hard Imperial perspective in canon other than Rae Sloane. Instead she defects pretty much immediately after Endor, which makes sense given how laughably and blatantly evil the idea of Operation Cinder is, but come on. The plot "twists" are predictable and the story is the same "disillusioned Imperial now fighting for the Rebellion/Republic" story we've seen dozens of times before in both canon and Legends. Laughably little ground is covered between ROTJ and TFA. Plus, the plot depends too much on knowledge of other materials in canon - sure, I knew what was going on with Leia being in orbit over Naboo when you get there because I've read Shattered Empire, but imagine the layman consumer. "Why is Leia here? Why is she flying a Naboo starfighter? Since when was Leia a pilot?"[/sp]
I'm really glad I didn't put down money for this. I was really tempted to, just for the campaign; but after watching the story, I know I would have regretted it.
There is story DLC coming with the first season.
[editline]15th November 2017[/editline]
[sp]is the I’ve Waited 30 years for this’ line even in the game? I’m guessing it will be in the DLC if it isnt.[/sp]
[sp]is the I’ve Waited 30 years for this’ line even in the game?[/sp]
[sp]Nope, and neither is the "hope cannot save them!" speech, or Iden(?) standing off with Luke, or a litany of other things.[/sp]
I have a feeling that one of two things is the case: the campaign may have gone through a major rewrite in the last year, or the trailers intentionally gave us a false idea of what the story would be like, given that it's just so different from the hints dropped and general vibe of the trailers. Plus, a good amount of the pre-rendered shots which would have fit easily into the campaign are missing or were heavily altered for the game - [sp]for example, the shot of them seeing the Death Star II explode or the Corvus joining the fleet at Endor[/sp] - and there are stylistic changes between [sp]things like the Corvus being of Imperial design at Jakku, when it's gone through a Republic retrofit in the actual campaign.[/sp]

This trailer is laughable now that we know what happens in the story.
I get the impression from looking back at the article about Project Ragtag's failure that the story change was something EA forced on them rather than Lucasfilm.
Argument #1: How much Star Wars should there be? With Ragtag, Hennig and crew were planning on making a gritty game about scoundrels and criminals. They had Lucasfilm’s blessing to tell a story about new characters, with no Sith or midichlorians or members of the Skywalker clan. But when EA’s executives thought of Star Wars, they thought of robed Jedi using powers of the Force, not mob families.
Two former Visceral staff recall EA looking at Ragtag and asking where Chewbacca was. “EA would get obsessed with market research and start asking people what’s important to them about Star Wars,” said a former staff member. “You’d get, ‘Oh, the Force, lightsabers, the usual Jedi continuum.’ They’re hyper focused on that stuff, and it’d be a topic of conversation in every pitch meeting.”
[sp]Having the game suddenly switch from the Empire's perspective of its own downfall to a more traditional Rebels vs Empire story featuring the OT cast feels like EA's idea of what Star Wars should be bleeding into the plot.[/sp]
[sp] So... Iden had zero problems with Tarkin blowing up a planet? Zero problems with Vader making genocide a hobby? Zero problems with seeing the Empire oppress people for years? [/sp]

[sp]As long as they were not loyal Imperial citizens she didn’t care. Vardos was one of the most loyal planets in the empire and her homeworld[/sp]

had to dislike that with all the pain in my heart.
The video is great but its promotion for a garbage game, and Dices or EA's fault, its core system is an injure to games in general, im sorry.
[sp]Sam i love you dont kill me[/sp]
PD:that guy should land a mayor rol laready jesus
I honestly don't get why you guys are giving shit to the Star Wars Show for promoting Battlefront 2, it's not like they aren't going to promote. It's a star wars property on a Star Wars Channel created by Lucasfilm
