I think you're still misunderstanding it. Canon isn't retroactive, making one thing canon doesn't make everything about it canon again. As an example, Darth Bane nearly appeared in the Clone Wars, as you mentioned - that wouldn't make KOTOR canon under the current new setting. If he had appeareanced that wouldn't be a case of "Darth Bane is Canon so the KOTOR games are canon!" but "There is a character called Darth Bane who looks like the KOTOR version", it wouldn't actually be the same character.
You mean Revan? Because Bane did show up, or at least a dark side illusion of him. [editline]6th December 2017[/editline]
No. First of all in this new continuity according to the Thrawn novel [sp]Thrawn wasn't exiled period and was instead sent by the Chiss Ascendancy to infiltrate the Empire to either make it a powerful ally against whatever is lurking into the Unknown Regions of the Galaxy or weak it enouhg to make it a suitable prey for said dark threat and spare the Ascendancy for a time[/sp]. Also, as much as I'm grateful towards Rebels to reintroduce Thrawn into the new canon, his portrayal there can't even begin to do justice to his Legends counterpart in many, too many ways, which is something I explain with the fact Rebels is first and foremost a kids' show where the heroes are the only ones allowed to appear smart or successfull. Regarding your whole discussions about The Old Republic being integrated in the new canon someday, I must say that I'm more sceptical than anything, and you know how much that makes me sad
Ignore the show and go by the novel, he's pretty much the same calculated Chiss from the EU. Yeah he isn't 1:1 the same character since his experiences were not the same, but I don't think he acted out of character.
You mean Revan? Because Bane did show up, or at least a dark side illusion of him.
Yes, Revan. I've not actually seen that episode of the Clone Wars but the point is still the same, it doesn't make anything except what's outright shown there canon.
No TLJ spoilers outside of whats been seen in trailers, but includes info from material released since TFA. Parts of the TLJ Visual Dictionary have been leaked and it confirms something most people should already know from ROTJ. These are not TLJ story spoilers, this is just general lore [sp]The sith are dead, and Anakin completed the prophacy when he killed Palpatine and then died himself.[/sp] [editline]7th December 2017[/editline] If anyone wants images of the Visual Dictionary pages I can PM them to you.

Non-plot spoiler stuff from the VD leak: [sp]The section in the VD on the Lanais is actually pretty interesting. TLJ's gonna have a lot of fun new creatures in it.[/sp]

I'm going to find it a bit cliche if they decide to [sp]Kill off every old cast member. Having Han and ultimately Leia die while keeping Luke alive would be ideal. I know they'll probably axe every old person but it would be nice to at least let one live on.[/sp]
I really like that weird crystal cave we saw in the trailers. I'm glad they're getting more creative liberty in the planets/creatures
Just rewatched Empire. Damn this film is good! It did make me wonder though: what did Vader want at this point in the story (meaning before ROTJ and the Prequels were written)? Was he planning on killing Luke if he wouldn't agree to go with him? Was he planning on overthrowing the Emperor? The thing is, taking the Prequels into account, it seems that Vader isn't all that happy to serve the Emperor, with all the machinations he pulled on him, and Vader doesn't want to kill Like since he cares about his family; but at the same time, there's a line in the "I am your father" monologue where Vader says "we can end this destructive conflict, and bring order to the galaxy" which makes it sound like he cares about all the deaths this Civil War brings - which is unlikely, considering how many Admirals he kills over the course of the Original Trilogy

People seem to mention the rule of two when talking about this, the thesis being "Vader wants to be the master, Emperor wants a stronger apprentice; and because of the rule of two, both of them know somebody is going to turn on somebody (either Palpayine kills Vader, or Vader kills Palpatine). But surely the writers didn't have the rule of two in mind when writing Empire, right?

It comes from a line in the Phantom Menace: "Always two there are, a master and an apprentice." In other words, it's more Prequel-era Lucas bullshit.
It's only a retcon if it conflicts with something. Did it?
It's only a retcon if it conflicts with something. Did it?
Retroactive continuity. Ret con, doesn't have to contradict anything to count.
Hm. I suppose, but I am curious if it did
Yeah, retcons can add to something that's already established, it just imposes a different interpetation to events. For example, Galen creating a flaw in the Death Star's reactor is a retcon since it wasn't previously known. We assumed the Rebels found about it on their own.
Yeah, suck it rebels, can't even do anything right without a lucky traitor handing you victory on a silver platter! It is kind of nice, though, how the Vader speech from ESB does fit both the Rule of Two and Vader's overall disposition from the prequels. Even before the Prequels, though, I understood his offer to Luke did not mean that they were going to overthrow the Emperor and all live happily ever after, but that Vader's idea of Order was even more tyranny.
Rule of two is a retcon. It comes from a line in the Phantom Menace: "Always two there are, a master and an apprentice." Anyway, was thinking about TFA's special effects being both CGI and practical, and this shot of Maz's castle came to mind. There were no flags on set, and the castle walls were a lot lower physically. Considering the lighting in the shot, the light passing through the flags should have colored the scene in rainbow-like style, but since adding artificial colored lighting back to a shot with a dynamic camera is hard, they probably just gave up. They should remaster the prequels and redo all the CGI into modern day CGI to see how it would look
Or even better, build practical sets of places like Kamino and then composite the actors in (assuming they still have the raw greenscreen footage). I'd bet dollars to donuts it literally couldn't look worse than what we've got (because those movies have aged like an Alabama prom queen made of already-expired milk).
Anyone seen the "VIII Days" trailer? The subreddit says it contains major spoilers, does this hold any water? I'm avoiding it, but I might have seen a thumbnail and title from the trailer and now I'm scared I got something spoiled. The title said [sp]"Evil Rey trailer"[/sp] and the thumbnail had [sp]her holding Kylo's saber[/sp]. I don't know if I want a confirmation if it's true though. Edit: Facebook confirmed it, at least the thumbnail. Probably a red herring or something though.

[sp]"Evil Rey"[/sp] is just people's random speculation - I personally doubt it'll actually happen. [editline].[/editline] FYI the TLJ premiere takes place tomorrow, so anyone dodging spoilers should start going dark by then.

We already knew [sp]she'd be at that location anyways, and if it's a force grab it doesn't necessarily mean anything else than that she was disarmed at that point.[/sp] Thanks mate! Edit: Avoiding possible spoilers - DO NOT watch the Battlefront season pass trailer on Youtube's page, thumbnail's in recommended are pretty revealing.

Accidentally read a few pages of a TLJ storybook, seems spoiled myself the first 15 minutes
