Star Wars Megathread Episode IV: A New Thread: UNTAGGED SPOILERS? 1 WEEK BAN

They should just stop relying on references, a film should survive on it's own. Every movie should be treated like it's one for newcomers and veterans alike. In-Jokes are not a way of achieving that.
Also.
Am I the only one to think the rule of two is moronic?
One generation fucks up. Say the master dies before he gives all his shit to the apprentice (which can happen either through hyper space errors or the apprentice killing his master too early because they think they've got it all, or just hate the master) Boom. The sith order's progress is undone and the apprentice is garbage without a competent master. To say nothing of them both dying. All your eggs are in too-few baskets. Over a thousand years, the line is more likely to be severed than take galactic control.
The problem I have with the Rule of Two is that, while it can help you hide from your enemies, solve in-fightings and make the two individuals involved far more powerful than your average enemy, you are still tiding the fate of your entire order on top of only two people, with everything that entails
considering they eventually did manage to crash the Republic and replace it with their own regime, i'd claim the terrifying risk was worth it in the end
they just unfortunately never heard the saying about how blood is thicker than Sith teachings so the whole thing went down a reactor shaft as a direct result of that
Thousands of years, generations of sith, for two individuals to have a little over 20 years of power.
Not really worth it.
It has been confirmed that Shaak Ti was killed in the temple during Order 66
[editline]3rd January 2017[/editline]
Might seem random but some people seem to think she is alive or that the deleted scene of her getting killed by Grevious was canon (you see her later in EP3 after the point she was meant to be killed)

I love how these two deleted scenes are non-stop quipping and goofing around, seconds after she's been murdered right in front of them. Makes me want an Anakin and Obi-Wan buddy-cop movie.

Jesus I forgot that deleted scene existed, it's just fucking embarrassing.

Have you ever heard about our Lord and Prequel Savior, Star Wars: The Clone Wars?
Because it's got that and more.

Except significantly better that whatever the fuck that scene was, like seriously, you downplay the absolutely fantastic writing that came from the Clone Wars cartoon by even so slightly talking about it in relation to that scene.
Like seriously, they finished each others sentences, which was weird in and of itself with literally no emotion, I mean wtf was "That was a baaaad" "Mistake" and then they started preforming a laurel and hardy sketch straight after watching a friend get brutally stabbed through the chest for god sake :v: like... Not even a NO! Shaak Ti! the droids in that scene, hell even grievous show's more emotion than the main characters do.

Not excusing that scene or anything, but I'm sure they've seen a lot heavier shit throughout the wars so that the death of a jedi isn't too big of a deal. I mean they watched probably a fifth of the Jedi Order die on Geonosis at the very beginning of things.
The signals were weird though and not really sure what happened to Shaak Ti's body a few seconds after she's killed either.

Never thought they would go with that death, I figured the deleted scene would be the one.

You see her in the Council Hologram on Kashyyyk, so they couldn't.

There is a deleted scene in the EP3 Blu-ray release where you see her killed in the Temple by Anakin.

Only because Palpy fucked up and overestimated his hold on Vader. With an mastermind like him at the helm the rule does well.

To be fair, Palpatine technically had most of the power when he became Chancellor (thanks Jar Jar), just not absolute power.

Spice it up in a screwdriver with some Sneaky Sheev's Vodka. You know it's the best because it's the only one allowed by law!
As much as I love star wars and I've gotten my shovel to start digging into the lore and the books/shows
Fucking Sheev?
i was gonna make a saltine joke relating to satine but im too lazy

If you're sticking to digging for canon you're lucky enough to miss out on a lot worse EU lore than the name Sheev.

There may have been a summer when I was in high school that I spent 3-4 hours a day a couple days a week just following link after link in the star wars wiki. All of this is in addition to the dozens of books and shittons of comics I've read. It gets BAD.
EU seriously was not this holy grail as some people made it out to be.

Explain?
Sorry, I'm poorly versed on Star Wars canon

Old EU and old canon before Disney nuked it to start fresh was a clusterfuck. A lot of it was good, but there was quite a bit of stupid shit, nonsensical themes/storylines, and pointless fanservice in it. Disney came out and said besides the movies and Clone Wars TV show, nothing before they bought it is canon. They've put out a lot of material since then, and try to keep it pretty well flowing and connected.
I'm still concerned about the new canon, like. It's pretty good so far but it also was like this when the old EU just started out. so I'm still a little cautious

Most of old EU was pure garbage before Zahn came in and really put it into motion with Heir to the Empire in 1991.
We have to remember, the old EU (can we start calling that the Old Republic) was essentially fattened by George Lucas permissively letting anyone stamp Star Wars on anything so long as he got his cut. I remember reading a book with Star Wars on the cover that was essentially a generic Sci-Fi story, that was pretty fun and solid and well written, and if it weren't for the Star Wars emblem on the cover, I'd have never connected it.
The new EU is likely to be curated pretty heavily and only put out stuff that is, at the very least, sanctioned as fitting.
I doubt we'll get another Han Solo punching out a giant Platypus.

Fucking Sheev?
i think that's one of the better names they could've picked, it's stereotypically evil in a sort of hissing reptilian kind of way without being overly cliché
overly cliché in my opinion of course being something related to dragons or starting with "Mor-"
EU had some neat shit, but it was riddled with stupid crap like lightsaber knees, horse headed rebel pilots, vader's glove being indestructible because symbolism, a sun-destroying literally indestructible icecream cone shaped starship whose debut included flying through a star destroyer, and ~more!~
Sheev was actually the name George Lucas gave him.
It wasn't used until the new canon, but it was his idea.

Zahn's novels were the first stories allowed to take place after ROTJ, everything else was during the OT IIRC.
But most of the dumb shit was released after 1991.

Why would we call it the Old Republic when it happens in a hell of a lot more eras than the Old Republic?
I wonder how the rebels got the plans for the DS2.
Before anyone mentions the Bothans, they didn't steal any plans, they got the information on where the Death Star 2 was, and that the Emperor was going to be there, and even then that was leaked to them by the Emperor on purpose.
