Please stop.
i'm willing to bet the Outer Rim just doesn't care enough to [sp]help Leia's Resistance. if there any sympathetic left out there, they're fighting and fending for themselves in a galaxy in turmoil. so maybe there are republic ships left that just can't be bothered to fight for them[/sp]
I hated that the message in Last Jedi was [sp] Blindly follow the rules, no matter what. [/sp]
Someone saw the RLM review...
But the [sp]purple hair lady did have a lesson taught to her in the end. She scolded fin for being reckless and using a highly dangerous and costly trick to take down the ship at the beginning, and said something like that they dont need hothead pilots like him or whatever, and then at the end when she saw her friends getting massacred she had to pull out a trick with a low chance of working just like fin did to save everyone[/sp]
I think more people would have caught that and have less problems with [sp]hyperspace kamikadze ram[/sp] if [sp] they established that something like this is extremely risky and/or has a very low chance of working beforehand[/sp]
[sp]Or maybe it just takes a really big ship to pull off, the Mon Calamari ships are the biggest ones the Rebels have right?[/sp]
Yeah, the Mon Cal ship is 3km, which is insane to me. Ships just keep getting bigger. Soon everyone will be flying around fleets of Death Stars.

Everyone is talking about this like it had a low chance of working - where is that establish? [sp]I just assumed that ships are expensive and accordingly you don't just wanna blow them up.[/sp]

They do a shit job of giving perspective on just how big these ships are anymore.
3km doesn't show me how big it is when the bridge is the size of my kitchen and I only see small corridors with 5 to 6 people in it at a time. Surely a ship that large would have a massive crew, but you don't see them.
The Death Star in the OT was shown to be BIG. You had HUGE open spaces, literally cliffs inside the station with groups of people walking through corridors, not individuals. When inside, you saw how large the thing was. But with nothing but other large ships next to them, these things have no real visual impact.
Putting a Mon Cal ship that is 3k next to a Star Destroyer that is 2k only shows me that the Mon Cal "is bigger", not "is 3k long", if that makes any sense to how I worded it.

Rogue One absolutely nailed sense of scale though, the Death Star in that film was terrifyingly big. I don't know why the same doesn't carry over here.

One thing that was lost on me in TLJ was [sp]how much of the Resistance was actually killed. I know at the end there were just enough survivors to fit into the Falcon, but they never showed how many people were on the cruiser. Or how many people were in each of those shuttle transports. Every room was shown to only have a dozen or so people in it. I have no idea what % of the Resistance perished in TLJ because we only ever see the main cast, plus a few reoccurring background characters.[/sp]

When's your HBO Comedy Special?

As much as I love TLJ and like TFA, I certainly think the weakest part of the ST is the world building. [sp] The war just feels... so small. Like all of it is just centered around these 2 fleets and that's it, you don't get a feeling of a huge galactic conflict with the Clone Wars or this overwhelming superpower who's might stretches everywhere like with the Empire. I still don't know what the fuck is going on exactly and we are 2 films in. I'm hoping we get some awesome extended material soon because this just feels like a big car chase in space and not a conflict that decides the fate of the galaxy. Where the hell is everyone? [/sp]

No matter what is said about the plot I still think Rogue One is the nicest looking Star Wars film outside of a couple TLJ scenes

I believe [sp] during the briefing on the ship after Leia force pulled herself back onto the ship, a number in the area of 400 resistance members was stated to be left. [/Sp]

Yea [sp] "400 of us on three ships." Totally gave me battlestar galactica vibes imo [/sp]

It's not established anywhere, but it's the only explanation that makes sense to me so I stick to it

The problem with the, shall we say, manoeuvre is that [sp]jumping to light speed in-universe is about suddendly transictioning into a different dimension entirely and then exiting it and reappearing at your desired location inside "our normal dimension".
That said, the only way Holdo's kamikaze attack could work would be if she ran through the enemy ship as she was transictioning into the light speed dimension, as her ship was still solid and thus capable of tearing the bigger starship apart[/sp]
I saw TLJ yesterday and I have to say, I'm pretty pleasantly surprised by it. I was expecting it to have all the same problems with pacing and character development as TFA had, but it surpassed it in just about every single way. It was a much slower film with actual character development unlike TFA's breakneck pace, but it didn't skimp on action. Rey was my least favorite character in TFA as she was rather boring and simplistic without much going on. In TLJ she's well rounded, relateable, and she actually has proper character development and interesting arcs. Kylo Ren continues to be the most interesting character, though, and is actually probably my favorite villain from a Star Wars film (fight me Vader fans).
My biggest complaints are the constant jokes being kind of annoying at times and really upset the tone of the film. [sp]The opening crank call gag felt like an SNL skit that transitions into a Star Wars film like another FP'er said. It was kind of funny but it was over the top.[/sp] They weren't all bad but there were just too many of them.
[sp]I really wish they hadn't destroyed the Super Star Destroyer 2.0 in the first film it appears in. I guess they wanted to stray away from ESB and keeping it around until the next film would be what ESB did, but that's the fourth time (fifth if you count the control ship from Episode 1) the Star Wars films have introduced this ridiculously huge ship at the start of a film and the Rebels miraculously destroy it by the end. It's getting really old.[/sp]
Some of the dialogue is kind of bad but that's a minor issue for the most part. It's mostly pretty good.
[sp]I thought it was kind of weird how the Rebels were constantly saving and/or being around cute animals. It was kind of cute (I can't dislike the Porgs) but it was weird, like they're waving a giant flag over their heads with THESE ARE THE GOOD GUYS written on it.[/sp]
Also, I really hate saying this but Carrie Fisher's acting was not very good. It wasn't terrible, but her delivery was pretty weak for pretty much the entire film.
Finally, and I'm sure tons will disagree, but [sp]there really was no point in using a puppet for Yoda, especially if it's going to end up looking worse than the one from ESB and RotJ. The articulation in his mouth looked like a sock puppet. With the advancements in practical effects from the time of the OT, there's really no excuse for that other than nostalgic pandering. He looked way out of place with the rest of the film. Hell I would have preferred CGI Yoda if the CGI was on par with Snoke, who looked incredible.[/sp]
Anyway, excellent film all around despite those issues. Mark Hamill was all around amazing as Luke, the battle scenes were incredible, I liked how it tried new things (though it was still a lot like ESB, even down to the [sp]Pseudo-Hoth[/sp] scene at the end, though that was amazing so I'm not going to bitch), the CGI and practical effects (minus the one) were amazing and yeah, I don't see why so many people didn't like it.

[sp]The Supremacy got fucked up by the hyperspace ram, but it's not necessarily unsalvagable. The main section and the left wing are still in one piece.
Wouldn't be surprised if it returned in IX with scaffolding all over the right wing a la DSII[/sp]
[editline].[/editline]
Mark's kids had cameos in TLJ.

[sp]Yeah that's true, I hadn't thought of that. I suppose they could easily just reattach the wing as most of it was left intact. I would love to see it return in IX as it was a really cool design. I want to see more of it in detail.[/sp]

Did you really like knock-off Han Solo?
DJ was pretty cool though right
I liked him. His stutter was an interesting detail that I thought helped bring the character to life. I hope we see more of him in IX.

Not once did I think of Han Solo when he was on screen, so meh.

He was nothing like Han Solo.

He was supposed to be Han Solo...? I don't see it...

He's a completely different character.

If you compare him to ANH Han the only major differences are him ultimately siding with the bad guys and lack of Chewie.
[sp]I have to say it still really irritates me that they go to such contrived lengths to find a way to make the rebels the "scrappy underdogs fighting an infinitely more powerful enemy but winning anyway because y'know it just wouldn't be as heroic if the odds weren't impossible" again.[/sp]

They're nothing alike.
Go rewatch ANH

[sp]Yeah and they really should have shown the downfall of the New Republic or whatever in the beginning of TFA. It's like one minute they're winning a massive war against the Empire, skip ahead thirty years, suddenly they're unheard of and under siege by Empire 2.0.[/sp]
