I wonder how the rebels got the plans for the DS2.
Before anyone mentions the Bothans, they didn't steal any plans, they got the information on where the Death Star 2 was, and that the Emperor was going to be there, and even then that was leaked to them by the Emperor on purpose.
oh what the hell
Rogue One
[sp]Raddus' fleet had not left yet at the time of 3PO and R2's cameo, he had left for his ship, not the system, so it isn't a continuity error[/sp]

this paragraph says everything you ever need to know why Disney purging the old EU was a good idea
Darth Sidious, newly declared Emperor of the Galactic Empire, soon arrived and snatched what remained of Vader's body from the bank of the lava river, placing him on a medical capsule and willing him to live. He then took Vader back to Coruscant, repairing the damage to Vader's body through intensive cybernetic enhancements with help from arcane Sith healing techniques at the newly renamed Emperor Palpatine Surgical Reconstruction Center. He was repaired and rebuilt over a period of several days by a hyper-sophisticated Ubrikkian prototype DD-13 medical assistant droid named DD-13/HK, a 2-1B surgical droid by the name of 2-1B/DRX, and an enhanced FX-6 medical assistant droid. The Ubrikkian "Galactic Chopper" DD-13/HK oversaw the installation of his cybernetic implants, prosthetic limbs, and synthetic organs, and the FX-6 performed numerous blood transfusions and stabilized the terrible damage done to Vader's eyes, vocal cords, scalp, face, arms, legs, and especially his lungs. Both droids spent much time connecting Vader's severed nerve endings to his new robotic parts. The surgery was also less than pleasant; 2-1B/DRX deliberately did not perform reconstructive cosmetic surgery to Vader's face, as it would be hidden behind the mask. The process included eight hours to supply artificial implants to his internal organs, two and a half of which were dedicated to implementing the linkages. Budgetary limitations and lack of effective equipment imposed by the Empire also acted as a factor to the shoddy attempts at repair, with DD-13/HK speculating that the limitations may have been deliberately orchestrated by the Emperor in order to ensure Vader didn't rebel. 2-1B/DRX likewise ordered for Vader's helmet to be waxed with woodoo hide in the hopes that the resulting shine would distract Palpatine from the shortcuts they were forced to implement during the surgery. In addition, the blackened and dead flesh on Vader's scalp that was exposed to the heat of Mustafar was surgically removed, although the scarring itself penetrated to his bones.
Though I just realized, I was an idiot. Why would the plans be incomplete?
They didn't have the plans, the hologram they had was based observation from spies according to the new canon.

Ah yeah, true. I guess they just mention the information that many bothans died for, never anything really about hard plans.
Explain?
Sorry, I'm poorly versed on Star Wars canon
Good:
Sith T-Rex
Beardy McGrump, Jedi Knight
Revan, KOTOR 2
Bad: Everything else. all of it.
Don't forget IG 88 (the famous sausage droid assassin) literally turning into the fucking Death Star and villains only 12 year olds would find dark and scary wiping out 100s of trillions of lifeforms (no really). Oh and the Empire being wiped out like 15 times only to be brought back every time.
This evening I saw Rogue One. I was pretty hyped about it as I was hoping for a Star Wars movie about ‘regular’ people instead of seeing what the Jedi go through.
[sp]In this movie, everyone died. And fast. I was reminded how they are just human, and about how fragile human life is. I didn't expect most of the rebels to make it out of Scariff when they're with around twenty of them, against an entire force. I wasn't used to it because of the former movies where a team of Jedis would be practically fine. Seeing regular people struggle in a Star Wars movie where all of them are in the spotlight was great. The end suddenly made me realize that this was the sequel to episode IV when the ship was departing just in time before Vader could board it.[/sp]
In my opinion, both Disney and Lucas Arts can keep making films to expand the story the way they did with Rogue One.
I think I like clone wars and rebels more than the OT. Is that heresy around here?
Clone wars>rebels>OT>prequels>episode 7
Haven't seen R1 yet. And, well, this of course takes into account the varying quality of the animations and OT. Like some episodes of CW/Rebels are garbage. but then again Return of the Jedi is about 70% garbage. (RotJ managed to make me cry tho, so it's not all that bad.)
I have a terrible opinion in that I think the force is my least favorite part of the Star Wars universe. Rogue One was very nice for me.

I think the Force made Star Wars for what it is. But having something like Rogue One is great, it makes the universe realistic like “not everyone has super powers, here are other people in the same lore accomplishing the same in a more relatable way without having super powers.”
To clarify “I think the Force made Star Wars for what it is:”
So many science fiction movies have spaceships, aliens, laser based weapons, but none of them include something like The Force. Throw the Force or anything like it into any movie (literally any) and people will say “holy shit that's (stolen from ;) ) Star Wars,” even in Star Trek or Stargate which are also popular amongst sci-fi fans.
star wars really shines when it doesnt focus on the jedi for half of the fucking comic/show/novel/movie for me
ok, rebels is an execption to that
On the topic of the old EU/Legends I'll point you all to this post containing some of the best or worst to come out of it (depending on your perspective), including the comic where Jar Jar's dad kills himself and this... thing.

Hello I just thought I would stop by and let everyone know that Carrie Fisher's mom died of a broken heart and Princess Leia's mom died of a broken heart as well

i don't get why people shit on this
palpatine knew vader would overpower him if he had built him back to 100% strength, it made perfect sense to limit his abilities.

i think its moreso the boring overly detailed writing and not to mention the Emperor Palpatine Surgical Reconstruction Center sounds fucking silly

Isn't that a bothan?
[editline]3rd January 2017[/editline]
People keep bringing up Skippy the Jedi Droid, but that was never canon in the old EU. It was just a silly story they wrote for fun
Same with Jar Jar's father

i suppose that makes sense, but george was always ridiculous and meticulous with the details surrounding events, locations, ships, etc.

ehhhhh. I can get why you would wanna do that if you're writing a script to make it easier for the people working on cg/visuals to well, get what the general idea is
:snip:
Does Rebels get better than the first episode similarly to how The Clone Wars improved dramatically from the release of the film? I watched the first episode and cringed hard at a lot of the dialogue choices throughout and was hoping there was a better starting point.

It improves even in season 1.
I love how these two deleted scenes are non-stop quipping and goofing around, seconds after she's been murdered right in front of them. Makes me want an Anakin and Obi-Wan buddy-cop movie.

Dear god, the CGI on that has aged terribly.
I know it's a deleted scene, but a pretty big portion of the prequel trilogy looks really dated now.
I do like the writing in this scene, though, at least between Anakin and Obi-Wan. It makes them actually seem like good friends.

imo most of 2 and 3 still look fine for the most part. I haven't seen Ep. 2 in a while but the only thing I can think of from 3 that doesn't hold up (and was bad to begin with) is Obi-Wan getting crushed under the platform. This scene looks like it just uses unfinished, possibly placeholder visuals.
I think 2 suffers the worst from dated CGI

you don't see anything wrong with the idea of droids attempting to distract the emperor by making vader's helmet shiny???
