EP7 is 53 years after ROTS, I can't see any Clones being alive. Non-Clones, maybe.
aren't humans in SW supposed to live like 100-120 years on average? Better health care and such? Surely some clones, even developing faster, could live a decent 60 years or something and make it into the Disney trilogy?
I dunno, the Clone Wars cartoon actually made them pretty likable characters. If your experience of clones is just from the movie however, I can see how you'd think that.
The Clone Wars did sort of ruin them with the whole "They had a chip in them that made them carry out order 66!" thing, though.

That actually makes make more sense than them just suddenly finding intense hatred to kill Jedi. After all the battles Cody and Obi-Wan went through and the times they saved each others life, I'm pretty sure his true loyalty lied with Kenobi. The chip against forces them to be overly aggressive and hunt down and kill Jedi rather then just turn n shoot. Even in the comics and EU novels prior it was that some clones, like commanders, commandos, even ground troops interpreted the Order as False and protected their Jedi Commanders.
problem is it'll have to be set far enough into original trilogy that the stormtroopers aren't clones, but it can't be TFA troopers because they're basically grown to be stormtroopers
Probably not too far, most clones were phased out before the original film. If we're going by Legends continuity (which isn't canon anyways), there were very few left by the Battle of Hoth. It would probably be best set before Return of the Jedi. Either right before A New Hope or between it and Empire Strikes Back (and maybe ending with the Battle of Hoth?). Hell, they could even cross it over with Rogue One, maybe have Jyn round a corner and kill all the main characters at the end.

It changes it into "They're all actually the good guys, we can't have them do anything bad!". Previously it seemed like it was more of a case of even though they had became friends with the Jedi they were with, their loyalty was to the Republic; they were told to do it, for all they knew it was for the good of the Republic, especially when ordered directly by Palpatine. As far as i know they didn't know it was galaxy-wide, either, so while they might not have believed the Jedi with them would do such a thing, why would they have had any less of a reason to believe Palpatine? He used them all and betrayed their trust, they reluctantly did it thinking they were doing the right thing. That makes it a lot more meaningful than just "They literally couldn't decide otherwise!".

maybe have them frozen in carbonite. Issue with a stormtrooper story is what do we focus on? Cause like, they're not fellows that fill multiple rolls. There's different branches of the military. The standard trooper isn't also a pilot and a mechanic like every main character so far. Now, probably we just pick the rank'n file grunts. And you can probably get some cool stuff off that (this one's loyal, that one has doubts, he's got a family, he really hates others, one of them is a spy) There's potential for a great GoT style show about mandalore or criminals.

Actually, you could probably just remake Starship Troopers beat-for-beat with Stormtroopers. The social commentary would fit.
Well in canon there is a clone trooper who was frozen in stasis and was unfrozen by a band of pirates lead by Sidon Ithano http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/CT-6116 At least that's a way to keep some of the troopers
I like the reference they made to "i hate sand " line in the newest rebels episode.
I like the reference they made to "i hate sand " line in the newest rebels episode.
I giggled at that.
I like the reference they made to "i hate sand " line in the newest rebels episode.
I almost couldn't believe they made that jab. Incredible :v: When I saw Rogue One I didn't realize who Saw Gerrera was, but now I remember! I've been hoping since I watched Clone Wars they'd include an animated character in a live action movie, and they actually fucking did. So happy about this. These episodes completely tied together Clone Wars, Rebels, AND Rogue One in so many ways. It was a really good 2 episodes.
I've just saw the two new episodes of Rebels. To be honest, I didn't understand why they had to use two whole episodes for this plot, which honestly feels like a Rogue One nod filler and little else (at the end of the episodes, the only thing achieved is the knowledge that Saw Gerrera can be a huge dick). Mark my words: just like in season one and two, we'll wait for those few episodes we are all looking for and try to overlook the fillers as best as we'll be able
Honestly I really hope we get an Anthology movie that's like Rogue One but with a platoon of Stormtroopers. Rogue One did a great job at showing how the Rebels aren't these perfect heroes, I'd like to see a straight up war movie that shows that Stormtroopers are really just average soldiers with actual personalities, not just despicably evil faceless space Nazis.
Id love to see the transition from a clone army to a regular army. I mean are the clones just gradually phased out or do they all have a kill chip or what?
Id love to see the transition from a clone army to a regular army. I mean are the clones just gradually phased out or do they all have a kill chip or what?
Most clones were emperor's guards iirc. And some were trainers for the regular troops
Most clones were emperor's guards iirc. And some were trainers for the regular troops
The emperor had a special batch of clones that were made fanatically loyal to him to serve as his guards.
Shoutout to "Mace Windu = Snoke?" for being the most assinine piece of Star Wars related clickbait I've ever seen.
Shoutout to "Mace Windu = Snoke?" for being the most assinine piece of Star Wars related clickbait I've ever seen.
Lemme introduce you to Darth Jar Jar
Id love to see the transition from a clone army to a regular army. I mean are the clones just gradually phased out or do they all have a kill chip or what?
Canon suggests they were just naturally phased out, as it made more sense to just recruit citizens from across the Galaxy to serve the Emperor rather than use a clone army. Chances are they just grew old and retired (forcefully or otherwise) in the following decades after the clone wars. [editline]aa[/editline] ow, automerge Current canon states they had to retire as their accelerated aging compromised their combat effectiveness and Palpatine started recruiting home grown human soldiers instead. By the time of the Battle of Yavin Clone troopers are so rare that some imperials are surprised to meet them in military operations.
Snoke being Darth Plagueis is the only instance of headcanon I've ever had for any piece of fiction ever
that one droid that exploded at the start of ANH is snoke
Lemme introduce you to Darth Jar Jar
Darth Jar Jar is genius tho
honestly. saw in the recent episode of rebels had no reason to be so hostile. he was just a plain asshole? it all felt phoned in.
Shoutout to "Mace Windu = Snoke?" for being the most assinine piece of Star Wars related clickbait I've ever seen.
Both are bald, totally make sense
Id love to see the transition from a clone army to a regular army. I mean are the clones just gradually phased out or do they all have a kill chip or what?
Most were phased out, some became the Imperial Guards, and in the Legends timeline there was a batch that were cybernetically augmented and turned into Phase 0 Dark Troopers, the ones from Battlefront 2.
Darth Jar Jar is genius tho
It really isn't.
Snoke being Plagueis makes sense even if you ignore the "Snoke is Wise" line. Snoke being Plagueis would neatly tie something from the prequels into the new era and retcon the shitty decision to have one of the most powerful sith lords killed in his sleep.
retcon the shitty decision to have one of the most powerful sith lords killed in his sleep.
I don't think they'd outright retcon a line from the movies. Considering they keep taking things Lucas wrote to heart. Palpatine himself killed Plagueis, I think he'd know if he was dead or not.
