I just want Star Wars but with more vikings in it
Your original post was good, but I just made it better.
You're right. We have space Spartans, where are the space Vikings
[t] http://vignette1.wikia.nocookie.net/starwars/images/e/e6/Gamorean.JPG/revision/latest?cb=20091202145421[/t] We already have vikings, these guys.
The closest thing to viking is uh, mandolorians, in a nazi ideal of the aryan race kind of way.

Porc?
[editline]1st February 2017[/editline] So some of the shots of the Death Star's 'view screen' they used an LED screen, not just blue screen replacement.
Finally starting Rebels S3. I really didn't want to pay $40 for the season on amazon but I couldn't bring myself to go to alternative means on something made by Filoni. He's doing the lords work.
Shotguns IRL do terribly against body armour. The force is too widely distributed so it's easy to absorb. I think the same logic would apply even more to blasters.
I would see this being the case with blaster shotguns, but IIRC clone armor specifically was made to disperse blaster bolts at the cost of personal protection, so they could still be vulnerable to the slugthrowers nobody used anymore. I think that was mentioned in CW somewhere?
A full auto blaster shotgun would be fantastic against jedi tho (they could probably dodge single shots) Until they start wearing armour. I would've liked to see full plate that really works well against sabers and blasters, so we can have full-on-knightly (or samurai) fights. It's a shame kylo has a saber modeled on a late longsword and doesn't have the armour to go with it.
We did have the Shadowtroopers from JK2--they wore cortosis-weave armor that made them a bitch to kill with sabers. Probably the most fun enemies to fight in the entire series. [t]http://static.comicvine.com/uploads/original/4/41224/2501599-shadowtrooper.jpg[/t] So much in fact that I played around with their scripts a bit in my copy to upscale their AI so they could pull a Neo and dodge blaster bolts and saber swings. What ensued would be these super-drawn out long duels that really made things interesting. Really hated the armor though so I'd replace it with regular troopers with yellow blades (thx KotET). Fun times.
A part of me dies to see armour so useless. a little bit of me got really excited when in Rogue 1, the Samurai's armour protected him from a shot, like armour is meant to do (the vader getting struck in the shoulder part of ESB was a bit ambiguous). IRL a guy wearing plate armour totally changes how a sword fight works, and I think that's cool. Blades going through armour is a work of fantasy, and star wars is such, but it's a waste, honestly. So many cool armour designs that do fuck all. I'll forgive them for stormtroopers (somewhat), but the rest...
I wonder if Cortosis will come back in its EU form. It does exist in the new canon, but (so far) it doesn't have anti-lightsaber properties, but it can absorb blaster bolts. George Lucas was against lightsabre resistant materials, in fact the Mandalorians were going to use vibroswords in Clone Wars, but he said no, so they created the Dark Sabre instead..

I'm sure there's stuff that's similar to lightsabers. I remember in the cube episode there were a bunch of orange saber-like things. (and well, mandalorians probably used a lot of anti-jedi weapons) Alright. here's my best plan so far We make armour Out of lightsabers.
We make armour Out of lightsabers.
this again?
tony stark's armor designs are getting weirder and weirder
Have high res shots of a Rogue One hammerhead (Spoilers) http://i.imgur.com/q8zewWl.png http://i.imgur.com/6irSJQH.jpg
it's not outrageously different, but the little additional parts somehow make it look a lot less clunky than the Rebels incarnation
I didn't notice before, but it also has a lot of similarities in terms of the construction to a Blockade Runner. The thin planar parts that connect the engines to the body.
Well Rogue One takes place 3 years after they first acquired them, so they were probably modified in those years
I didn't notice before, but it also has a lot of similarities in terms of the construction to a Blockade Runner. The thin planar parts that connect the engines to the body.
I believe this was actually intentional with their original design. A lot of the visuals in KotOR are supposed to evoke the imagery of the original trilogy, which is weird seeing as its set thousands of years in the past and yet the silhouettes of the starships barely change, at least with the Empire. [t]http://vignette3.wikia.nocookie.net/starwars/images/2/2b/Leviathan_Ebon_Hawk.png/revision/latest?cb=20130204121136[/t] This also goes for pretty much everything else in the canon from what I can tell. Zakuul is sort of an exception to this, they turn everything on its head visually and I think that's part of the reason it looks so compelling.
Wouldn't it be a serious design flaw to have the bridge directly at the front?
Well, the Hammerhead wasn't exactly meant to be used as a giant battering ram. Plus, other ships like the Blockade Runner have the bridge at the front as well.
That scene with the hammerhead in R1 was both cool as fuck, and the dumbest part in the movie.
That scene with the hammerhead in R1 was both cool as fuck, and the dumbest part in the movie.
How is it dumb? [editline]3rd February 2017[/editline] Someone on reddit spotted Donald Glover and Billy Dee Williams in a restaurant. Kind of creepy how he took the picture though.
That scene with the hammerhead in R1 was both cool as fuck, and the dumbest part in the movie.
That was easily one the coolest parts of the movie because it was unexpected.
How is it dumb? .
Ok. So i know in star wars logic, ships explode when they crash. But physics say: [sp] The two destroyers would bounce off of eachother, one's not going to ruin the other. As a result of not being destroyed, neither falls through the shield station, and if they were to fall into the atmoshpere, the hit would've knocked them enough off course to avoid the station. If they just hit one ship straight down (because space isn't some 2 dimensional thing) , it might've worked. [/sp] I mean it's still really cool, but the inner scientist is screaming "doesn't work, doesn't work' doesn't work" all the same
I mean it's still really cool, but the inner scientist is screaming "doesn't work, doesn't work' doesn't work" all the same
I mean, it's star wars, that inner scientist should be going off 24/7 if you really gave a damn about it being realistic in any way. [editline]edit[/editline] It's science fantasy for a reason.

[editline]edit[/editline] It's science fantasy for a reason.
Being a fantasy changes the line of acceptance, but it doesn't erase it. I accept the force, energy weapons , hyperdrive, technobable and fighters acting like planes, among other things. But even a casual observation/bit of knowledge about space (plus destroyers being naval ship analogs in star wars logic) puts that bit of crazyness out of the zone. Sea Ships don't work that way, space ships don't work that way. Star wars shouldn't work that way. Nightsister magic pushes the boundries a bit too. The force was a simple thing beforehand.

Why does it always have to be "That was really awesome but uh dumb too" why can't it just be "that was awesome"?
There is sound in space in Star Wars. This is one of the sounds. It's not exactly the most scientific thing out there, you know
